Or better yet, 8th vs 12th:

Which one represents death?

If Neptune is illusions and confusion, then why does it represent Karma?

Pluto seems more like a 'Judgement Day' type planet to me. There's no bullsh*tting with Pluto (or Saturn for that matter, except Pluto seems like the trial, and Saturn like the prison sentence).

Could Neptune, unlike Pluto-the reaper represent a whole realm? The realm where spirits dwell, immaterial and illusive...

I've seen every planet playing a significant role in one death chart or another. I think it depends on the natal chart and its themes.

But to answer your question, the 8th house is associated with death, but supposedly the 12th house is associated with self-undoing and perhaps the final stage of life, but not death itself. I really can't make that click. I would think the ASC symbolically represents rebirth, or a crossing over from the dying time (12H final degrees) to new life (first degrees of first house.)

Interesting topic for discussion, I'm curious what others will say.

12th house true ruler is Pluto.
12th house is true transformation as the 12th to the 1st house represents to transition from one life to the next.
8th house true ruler is mars.
It represents transformation that happens in one lifetime. It could be death, but 12th house is deeper than death.

•Neptune is more like the after life, the negative karma your fearful to see. Karma is not a tangible thing and 12th house is usually the subconscious fears we try to avoid...so it's in Neptune's realm.

•Pluto is the death that takes you to the after life, but Pluto also shows where karma needs to play out in life because Pluto wants to destroy and rebuild what's not working in a positive way for you any longer. The undoing comes when you refuse to do what Pluto asks.

•Saturn is the life your forced to live and be responsible for while your alive, of course this includes the past life debts and gifts you owe or are owed that you've unconsciously brought with you into this life. Saturn can be good...if you've been good! I love Saturn!

I don't think a particular planet represents death as such. But different planets have been associated with particular manners of dying, such as Neptune - poisoning and drowning; Uranus - electrocution, accidents; Mars - injury from sharp objects, knives; surgery; Jupiter - growths/tumors; Venus - diabetes and so on.

Geez, what a morbid topic

That is fascinating omg. I've never before heard of the 4th being death, but it totally makes sense since when you're younger you're as close to nonexistence as when you are old...

What a very unusual house for death to be in.
I just don't see how cancer/the moon/mother/nurturer is relating to death, birth, yes...death, no.
I see the nightine/midnight connection with the moon/IC but it's not as natural of a fit as Pluto and/or Neptune, both of which are death related but it very different ways.

But I have not read Sepharial's take...all I can say is at first hearing of it, it isn't a good fit with me.

I have Pluto conjunct AC, 1st house side.
I've had several near death experiences but never came close enough to do anything but scare me. I was never actually injure, except with my sons birth.

My son also has Pluto conjunct AC, but Pluto sits in 12th house...he's been in the hospital 2 times in his life for extended periods of time not expected to live. Lost half his blood(by volume) twice, once from external blessing 2nd was internal bleeding later that night. He was only 8 months old. Then he nearly died again, they were able to revive him though, he was 1n half years old.
We both nearly died at his birth...I went into a coma for 4 days.
I have 4 children, never had problems like this with any of them except my son with Pluto in 12th on AC.

I've never heard horror stories about moon conjunct AC and near death experiences.
