Capricorns are very resilient. I would think this is the least likely sign to attempt or commit suicide. IP: Logged |

I knew a Capricorn sun who was obsessed with the idea and was instantly interested in anyone who had done or thought about doing so They had a cancer moon though, and I think a Moon-Pluto aspect in the chart. I guess water signs would make sense though.Oh actually which makes me think, what about Scorpios? IP: Logged |

My sister in law committed suicide My uncle committed suicide My ex boyfriend committed suicideSister in law had a libra Sun, virgo Moon , aries AC with a very afflicted chart! I looked at her chart before and her death chart, she had a terrifying chart!! Multiple T-squares, I know she had some pisces placements, if I remember there was a pisces Mars square saggy Neptune...but that was just the beginning of it. My Uncle....I'm not sure I know he was a taurus I'll have to get his birth information from my grandma.. My ex boyfriend, taurus Sun, libra Moon, aries AC but he also had the pisces Mars square saggy Neptune. Mars in 12th house. His gemini Venus made a 2 degree t-square between all of them. I think the aries AC would give an ability to be violent in extreme circumstances....if it's turned inward they could turn that Mars energy on themselves. It's been years since my sister in laws death....I will try at some time to ask my brother when her birthday was or find out discreetly if I can. I can look at my exes chart I still have it around.

Gunter Sachs, a mathematician (and playboy) who actually himself committed suicide in the end, wanted to find out whether sun sign astrology could be shown to have statistical significance in a number of life issues. He used huge data samples that were openly available and had them processed in a thorough manner by a renowned statistical research institute. For the topic of suicide, he used official population statistics for the entire population of Switzerland. In that country, between 1969 and 1994, altogether 30.358 people whose birth data was on file were listed as having committed suicide. Taking into account the fact that the sun signs are not evenly distributed in the population, the result of the statistical analysis was that Taurus, Cancer and Pisces Suns were significantly more likely to have committed suicide. Most other signs (including Cappy) showed a neutral (non-significant) result. Libra and Sag, however, were significantly less likely to have committed suicide. The book is called The Astrology File: Scientific Proof of the Link Between Star Signs and Human Behaviour by Gunter Sachs.

I'm doomed then :P On another note - in an astrology book I read a long time ago, the author had noted that most likely suicide was due to a heavily afflicted mars. IP: Logged |

I would have to agree , the 2 ppl I know that committed suicide had a heavily afflicted pisces Mars in 12th....both aries AC, one had taurus Sun/libra Moon the other had a libra Sun/virgo Moon Maybe with the libra energy an affliction so severe creates an imbalance that they cannot fix, tolerate or endure any longer. Very interesting and going on my list to read. But to get a really good idea one should take the culture into account. Japan has a very different outlook on suicide than we in the West do and I bet the astrological placements would be different than for the Swiss. IP: Logged |

...Have to agree. I cant imagine Capricorn doing so without a lot of other influences in their chart stifling that cappiness. One of the least likely, actually.
IMO, Too much water, not enough air will certainly do it. Furthermore, I would wonder why each sign might be driven to do it. Pisces an existential crisis? cap, professional defeat? Scorp over lost love? etc. IP: Logged |

Now that you mention Aries Suns it made me realize two people I know. One with Taurus Moon and the other with Virgo Moon. Both have fought serious suicidal thoughts all their lives but thankfully never acted on it. IP: Logged |

I have Chiron in Leo 10th house, saturn in 4th and retro mars in cancer opposite neptune and uranus. sometimes I feel like quitting, I've thought of it, but I can't do it, my sag placements pull me back. IP: Logged |

I can vouch for the aspects that would at least make someone very depressed, yet not quite bordering on suicidal (that I know). My ex has a heavily afflicted (Aries) Mars (including Mars square Neptune) in the 12th house. The only positive aspect is Mars trine Jupiter which may help out a smidgen. If not for his Libra Sun & Mercury keeping him afloat, I'm not sure where he would be. He was/is an extremely loving, kind and generous person otherwise with a wicked sense of humour and no one would suspect a thing, so I feel this is a very personal issue for him. I should add he also has a lot of other Neptune activity going on - conjunct Moon, square Mercury, trine Venus and touching all of the outer planets as well. IP: Logged |
