What is the difference between moon energy and neptune energy? Both seem pretty similar.

They are in the tarot - the moon can rule confusion, in a reading. Or deception.

That's true, I had never thought of that before...

I feel that Neptunians work more off general vibes, and Lunarians work more off direct emotions.
Think Pisces Vs. Cancer?

I think it was Linda who made the distinction of a crab being one who lives in and out of the water, while a fish dwells exclusively in water.

I suppose I think of that in terms of Moon and Neptune as well. I also consider their relationships with Earth.

I'd be considered both. My Moon and Neptune are both angular. Moon on the Midheaven, Neptune on the Ascendant, both making lots of aspects to the other planets.

Both planets represent imagination, depth, feeling, intuition. I think the major difference is that Lunarian depth and intuition is much more personal. There's nothing personal about Neptunian energy. It's very universal, very "I'm everyone". That's why Neptune is the chameleon. The Moon can be about other people, too. But, the Moon's caring is more so about people that one knows and/or loves, where as Neptune's caring is for the whole world. There's more of a personal, intimate connection with the Moon's energy.

Neptune is transcendental. Like the sea ... A Neptunian person can pick up on how others project their feelings, dreams and hence neptunian can feel lost because they don't know who they are

Moon is personal. It's all personal feelings, nurturing. A strong moon person acts on intuition and their own feelings, can come off as motherly but definitely not lost

The Moon is more practical, immediate and grounded in personal subjective need. The Lunar is the core feminine principle easily understood through 'mother' and what it feels like to get our needs met. It is tuned in to the human factor. Its frequency resonates with violet. As the 'fire part of water' it receives and reflects all strong drives and urges fiery and spiritual (red, blue), putting them into motion. It is kinesthetic in its direct expression, relating to rhythm.

Moon is a cardinal, initiating, more direct response.

Neptune is a transcendent energy uninterested in practical realities, but represents our ability to dream and create starting with the imagination. It is a more heavenly principle, or at least more all-inclusive, feeling its highest sensation in the transcendent relation to what is often alien or excluded. It is tuned in to the spirit factor. Its frequency resonates with saturated blue/indigo. It is visual in its direct expression, relating to imagery.

Neptune is mutable, alternating, impressionable, reactive.

For many people the outer planetary energies, particularly Neptune and Pluto, refracted through one's more familiar (Lunar) water understanding/experiences.
