I think the issue could be that you don't fear change so much as much as you being weary of the unanticipated obstacles /complications that may occur.That Saturn squaring Jupiter/Mercury is the culprit. Saturn knows better that even though change is good,it can also come with some unprecedented complications.
Saturn on top of Mercury suggests you often doubt that you will be able to meet up with those challenges competently etc.
So you really are weary of all the administration(square Mercury) that comes with planning a trip and inhibit any initial excitement felt by a possible adventure into the great "unknown" (square Jupiter)
This aspect is the girl who is persuaded by her Uranus rich boyfriend to go out.
He is always calling her out on being a prude and unexciting (his Uranus squares her natal Saturn):Too locked up in the "safe" and known etc.
So she decided to go against her initial reserves(natal Saturn square Jupiter /Mercury).
She decided not to bore him with details of her fears and "I am saying "no" because I ..." etc. and just "go with the flow".
Fortunately everything works out better than she expected. She really does enjoy herself.But as the evening dies down, the boyfriend remembers that in all the rush to get there,he forgot to confirm their bookings at a lodge.
Upon learning all this, she has two options;
1. Let her natal Saturn squaring her Jupiter/Mercury say, "I told you to check on the details of this trip" and kick herself for not listening.Forgetting all about how fabulous it all was -up to and until that point.
2.Swallow her lecture to her boyfriend and channel her Saturn instinct into begging, borrowing and stealing their way into getting a place to sleep for the night etc.
Saturn provides caution, but the square aspect suggests that the inhibition could go towards overdrive-depending on the sign.
Someone with Mercury in Gemini squaring Saturn in Virgo may have learnt early on in life(and perhaps painfully) that telling tall tales(Gemini trait), gets one into trouble.
Either people find out that you are lying or something happens in the wake of your tale to have others doubt you/your intentions for telling it etc.
So the individual may grow excessively obsessed (Saturn in Virgo) with watching their tongue, relating only relevant information and NEVER "puffing" a story etc. Its as if their intellectual ego depends on them being absolutely factual etc.
The result is often a dull, nervous and overly self-conscious individual who is not much joy to keep company with -because they tend to be so self "editing" etc: Apologizing constantly for the use of a certain word and afraid of being misunderstood etc.
Don't ever let a square change you into the example above.
