What in the chart would make someone extremely dissatisfied with reality and longing to live in the realm of dreams?IP: Logged |

Probably a strong Neptune/Pisces/12th house influence. Neptune rules dreams, fantasies, escaping, and the like. So the person might possibly have a lot of Neptune in their chart. It can definitely make for someone who enjoys, whether intentionally or not, escapism and dreaming. If they do it enough, it can easily become an unhealthy mode of living and they may lack the quick know-how of living in reality or being grounded/down to earth, like it's opposite, Virgo energy. I would know this all too well - I have a dominant Neptune lol. Though I do have some Virgo as well.I'm also thinking possibly an afflicted Moon or a weak Mars, but I'm just throwing that out there. *raises hand*I'm the queen of escapism and it is not always a good thing. Actually it has really hindered my chances of success and I'm trying to crawl out of it. Pisces is my most prominent sign in my chart because of my Pisces Mars & Jupiter being so heavily aspected. Neptune is also closely conjunct my Sun and my Scorp ASC is in the Pisces decan. Moving constantly, inability to stay committed to ANYTHING, drugs, alcohol, other addictions/vices, you name it. So yeah, I think Pisces/Neptune/12th house influences sound about right!

Sun and Mars in Pisces Mars and Saturn both square Neptune wide conjuction Moon in 6th SagGotta say I love escaping.. but it does get seriously unhealthy at times. Growing up I began looking closer at reality as much as I could, just to stay on the safe side My mind is very creative, it's just that putting it into action alot of times can be difficult

I am a big fan of "Lord of the Rings", "Star Wars, "Harry Potter" books/films and the like. I am always living in a dream world. Sun-Neptune-Jupiter conjunct. Whatever it is,Neptune/12th house is sure to be involved. IP: Logged |

I'm not dissatisfied with reality I just love to dream. I'm a dreamer with huge aspirations for my future, for my life. I get overwhelmed and enjoy moments where I'm able to be free to think. I wouldn't deem that as unhealthy but I understand how someone looking in may view it as such. My mind is nonstop and sometimes I just need time to get it to stop or lessen it's intensity. There are times where I long for a better world with lesser evils and others where I appreciate them. Without them we'd never learn or grow. I just want happiness for everyone. I've 12th house Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter, lots of Neptune going on in my chart. My entire chart is contradiction after contradiction. IP: Logged |

I think of it as a response. In other words I don't live in a state of unhealthy escapism but when I am dissatisfied with reality, I will escape and shut people out. I go into myself and try to heal. I can heal but it's unhealthy in how it makes others feel when I don't include them or turn to them for support. IP: Logged |

I do this, as well. Although I can't relax enough to daydream anymore, so I lose myself in television shows. If I need a certain energy - like the tone of Justified, or Gilmore Girls - then I will watch that for as long as necessary. I disappear, I go to the bookstore, go for walks, take photographs. I used to be like Barbie: I would daydream a lot more, and lose myself in artwork. It wasn't an escape, I just loved it. I think of all of it as healthy escapism. I have Jupiter trine Neptune and my Midheaven, and I see the benefit of it. Unhealthy, to me, would be alcohol, drugs, even too much internet (I've been guilty of the last one). IP: Logged |

I loved Harry Potter. I bought the first book for my sister, because a book club reminded me that I had so many books that I needed to buy, to complete the agreement I'd signed. When it arrived, I peeked inside, and wanted to read more, so I asked my sister if she would mind if I read a book I'd bought her for Christmas. I would have waited if she'd said that she minded. God, I miss those days. I settled into the couch, and was hooked. I got her hooked on the series. Oh: I also have Mars in Pisces, square Moon/Venus/Nodes, trine Uranus/ascendant, and I think I'm forgetting something. It rules my Sun, Mercury and Jupiter, co-rules my ascendant. It's a big player in my chart. I'm not that competitive, I wasn't that aggressive until I had to be in recent years. One of my new favourite things to do, is to prop up my tablet on something secure, and watch Netflix in the bath (epsom salt baths). I feel so spoiled, stretched out with the jets going, bubbling the water around me, watching a movie or a series - and there's no danger of having to buy another library book that's fallen into the water. It's a safe distance away from the tub. IP: Logged |

I know quite a few like this (and I'm not even including the rampant escapism/addiction of society, only those who can't be self-supportive or otherwise skip eating some days in order to have their escapism handy and near constant) and what I've noticed is that most of them were raised abused and/or bullied so that they can't deal with people in this world and therefore seek solace in another world.I only know the chart of one and his Taurus Saturn makes it difficult for him to feel supported (I understand after I left he pretty much became a homeless hermit) and his Cancer rising also makes him prone to retreat from a world that is unsupportive if not downright hostile. I expect his Pisces moon and maybe even Scorpio Neptune contributes to it but I'm pretty sure it was the abuse he endured growing up that pushed him more into it, especially as that's a trait shared by about everyone I've known like him (which includes a Capricorn sun, btw). It's difficult to say because escapism is a fact of daily life for the vast majority of people and where that thin line between healthy and unhealthy (and also exploitive by TPTB) are debatable. (As an extreme example, what about the woman who showed up to jury duty in a Starfleet uniform? Keep in mind that as she was called to jury duty she must have an address and thus, presumably, able to take care of herself which means her escapism may be eccentric but not necessarily unhealthy.) Some wouldn't be recognized as escaping as their interests are so common and shared by so many people that they'd just call it a hobby or entertainment (going back to the one showing up to jury duty in a Starfleet uniform, and yes someone did that, what about someone with a potbelly watching sports every chance he gets who is just into his props/toys and clothes but instead about football rather than a popular scifi show, is it no longer escapism?). I do know that if someone ever makes a drugs that can make it so we seem to live our dreams (even as our lives are destroyed and bodies wither away) that drug will become the biggest scourge on the streets that society has ever seen. Oh wow :0 Although it's completely internal (no costumes here) I feel that it's on that unhealthy side because it causes me emotional anguish. Just call me Don Quixote.

When it went rx in October or something I "slipped w/ two" With it rx now, I've been VERY tested. I'm staring to cope w/ black and milds. IP: Logged |

Neptune/Pisces factors more than any other. The flowing aspects or conjunctions involving those factors. Sometimes Lunar or Jupiter factors, depending on sign/aspects.Very important -- these factors don't 'make' someone go into unhealthy escapism, but just allow a greater likelihood of it if the person reaches a certain amount of dissatisfaction or discouragement in life. ------------------

I've always had a serious escapism problem, and it used to be so bad that I literally dreamt away a better part of my twenties. My excess daydreaming and seclusion from the world caused me so much trouble, from not being able fo finish college or finding a job when I was supposed to because my dream world was so precious to me that I couldn't be bothered to step out of it. As a matter of fact, I'm still dealing with the mess escapism got me into. Actually, astrology helped me a lot to identify the root of my problems. I've got Moon in 4th square Neptune in 6th. Also, Venus in 12th also doesn't help because it adds a desire for escapism in romance as well. I've also have NN in the 5th house and I read that this can also cause escapist tendencies to emerge. I had a difficult time in my adolescence with my family and i couldn't escape from situations. So, i transformed my natural tendency to fantasize to escaping imagination. As a result, I had problems with my studies and my relationships too. I still feel that "my dream world" is the most precious thing in my life and I have to push myself to get real and down to earth. I think from one hand we are lucky that we have that weapon to face the hard reality but it's a curse as well.. Astrologically I think it's my Neptune trine moon, sextiles sun and mercury and Asc, conjucts jupiter. Also my venus sag in 9th house that makes me desire the ideal.. Here is a great article that speaks to me https://llword.wordpress.com/2013/05/20/imagination-as-escapism-imagination-as-exploration/

Same! My dream world saved my life. It still does sometimes, but it can also ruin my life if I let it go too far. I have Sun and Mercury in Sag and Moon in the 9th, so the denial potential is high. Moon square Neptune in the 6th = spirituality and philosophy squared everyday and practical affairs, is how I see it. In addition, my moon is conjunct Alice, and Neptune is widely conjunct Madhatter and Telephus, and tightly conjunct Achilles.. just more emphasis on the planetary square. IP: Logged |
