I am a little confused about how Saturn (and Saturn Retrograde) affects a person.

I am a Gemini Sun. At present Saturn is retrograding in my 1st house (natal chart), but it is retrograding in my 12th house (progressed chart).

As a result of moving into Sagittarius (progressed chart), Saturn is also now opposite my Sun sign which is the ruler of my progressed 7th house. Apparently, my relationships are under review.

I am confused, there seems to be 2 main "Saturn lessons" involving the 1st (natal) and 12th (progressed) and houses; but then there's also this issue with relationships - but Saturn isn't in my progressed 7th house, just opposite?!

This is a lot to take in!

Am I supposed to be learning about all of these things at the same time? Is one of these "Saturn lessons" more dominant than the other? - progressed chart lesson or natal chart lesson?

I hope that helps; and that someone can shed some light on it.

Thanks

I try to make transits as simple as possible for me.

In your case, the sun is in Gemini. Where is your Asc? Scorpio?

Since the Sun is in Gemini, Mercury should be an important planet. Most Gemini's I know cannot stand to keep quiet/still (or both LOL).

So Saturn hitting Mercury by conjunction/square/opposition may have you talking less. Or being told to "shut it" a lot. Or even being ignored

Does Saturn hit a planet whilst sitting on the 1st house?

Transits to the angles are important. But once they are backed up by personal planets...WOWZA

Usually a transit to the 1st will suggest that you get a little more serious, detail oriented and ore career focused.

It would also suggest that you age; perhaps not in physical sense but in your general outlook. You may be a lot more pessimistic/cynical.

I see that Saturn in 1st has manifested here by having you want to "break" down the concept of transits into manageable, understandable pieces.

Do you find yourself critiquing or increasingly dissatisfied with "authority" views on any subject of interest? Yearning to find that "authentic" view point?

Well Saturn tends to respect authority on one hand. But see their fallacies very clearly(on the other).

thanks for responding A.

I do not have any planets in my 1st house; but I do have Pluto in my 12th. Since Saturn began transiting my 1st house, I definitely feel much more grown up; and I'm keen to root out childish behaviours etc. Because I feel that they no longer serve me or at least, where I want to go. However, what I have found is that I have been forced to go back to square one with quite a few issues with other people that I have to make peace with because they have haunted me into my 20s.

I have also started to take my future stability more seriously, e.g. Budgeting and setting realistic goals. It's all ABIT confusing tbh; too many things to understand!

You're attempting to take in too much information for your astrological literacy. You know that when you hit confusion. We're aiming for clarity as a basis for re/orienting ourselves, resulting in reasonable expectations and good decisions.

I recommend that lay-people follow transits because they are more clear-cut and have more classic references for interpretation and synthesis in published books. Take Robert Hand's Planets in Transit, for example.

Astrology is 'cosmic soup' in a constant fluctuating mixture. Yes, there are the tastes and benefits of each planetary ingredient, but you don't want to strain to taste each individual ingredient or you'll miss the joy of the soup!

So don't strain over understanding a single specific factor. Just feel out whether a particular influence is dominant at a given time and requiring your attention. If we lose our inner reference point <center> then astrology leads us too much into the mind and 'out' of ourselves, rather than 'in' to ourselves.
