After that discussion about our Ascendant NOT being just a "mask", it made me wonder about what house(s) impacts our lives the most.

My DOB is July 27, 1990 8:28 P.M. I was born in New york City.

My Sun is in Leo and my Rising is in Aquarius. Both energies have dominated my life.

Since Leo is the 5th house, and Aquarius is the 11th, does that mean I have to look at the signs that are present there? Gemini is in my 5th (I love you gems!) and Sag is in my 11th (A true friend indeed!)

Would these be my dominant houses? By the way, I follow whole sign house systems not placidus

I agree and also using rulership, maybe aspects. Such as if one planet is heavily aspected.

Mine is fairly easy I think.
My 1st, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 12th house rulers are in the 12th house.

The Houses that are full, beginning with the ones that are the most full and moving downward from there, would be the way I would look at it

The unoccupied houses are not that important to the person imo

But what about splash charts? I have this and my planets are all over my chart. I have two houses packed with two planets each--the 3rd house and the 8th house. All other houses have one planet.

Imo, it's more like which house has more of your personal planets than simply just the one that has the most planets. Maybe just for splash charts?

For example, I don't feel 8th house energy much even though my Uranus and Neptune are in there. However, I feel my 3rd house a lot because I have Mercury and Venus there.

In your case your 3rd house is definitely more important.

I have a nice even spread in my chart of 2 planets max, all conjunct and in aspect to each other (but not completely in aspect to each other full circle). I'm disregarding asteroids, etc.

♍ 5th - Sun conj. Mercury (5 orb)
♎ 6th - Mars conj. Jupiter (1 orb)
♑ 9th - Uranus conj. Neptune (0 orb)

・Sun/Mercury △ Uranus/Neptune
・Uranus/Neptune □ Mars/Jupiter,unfortunately...

Overall, I feel like my 5th house would overrule as the dominant house in my case, since it is the house with the Sun in it, and the house ruled by the Sun.

The houses that include your personal planets will obviously be dominate, especially Sun and Moon, and stelliums. I also read that your pre-natal eclipse house will be a important house throughout your life, and the house that contains your North Node is important. As far as determining the one dominate house, hard to say for some charts. But once people know what the various houses mean and incorporate that into the personality, that will tell what is the dominate house.

I have multiple dominate houses. For instance, I don't have any planets in my 9th house, only Chiron. But this is a very important house for me, also my pre-natal eclipse is in this house too.

My dominant house is my 1st
Libra AC- Venus is my chart ruler
Taurus in 8th, Venus rules my 8th
SN in my 8th

My Venus is conjunct Pluto
Pluto conjunct AC
Venus is 11 degrees off AC
Venus is conjunct my anti-Vertex and asteroid Destin
Venus sits on the midpoint of Scorp NN and Virgo Moon
Venus is opposed Jupiter and Chiron

2nd-
Would be either my 12th or 2nd house...
My virgo 12th holds an unaspected virgo moon, unaspected planets can be stronger than houses full of planets that don't make tight aspects to each other, just because the unaspected planet has so much intense for the person.
Mercury is depositor for both 2nd house, MC and 12th house.

My scorp 2nd house is holding my saggy Sun/Merc and Scorpio Uranus/NN, my libra Pluto is on my AC

3rd-
Aries 7th house, holds Jupiter, Vertex and Chiron
Jupiter is opposed my Pluto and Venus
Chiron opposed Venus
Mars in 9th, it's only aspect is to scorp Uranus in 2nd

For these prenatal eclipses.
Would you count lunar and solar?
What about partial eclipse?

I had a full solar prenatal eclipse that would be near my sn in 8th house.

A partial lunar in my 8th and a full lunar that would be somewhere very close to the cusp of 2/3 house. I'd have to check which one that fell into.

Whether a house has a planet in it or not is irrelevant. A house does not need a planet residing in it in order to be activated. I wish people would leave this old mindset. Houses are foundations, Planets are influences. If Gemini is in the 6th house, then that area in your life will be very Geminiac, even if its empty.

Maybe the house the chart ruler is in?
Since the asc sets up the whole charts house system???
Just a thought.

Whoops I'll find another one.

EDIT- Can't seem to find an actual article describing how you find that out. So many on dominant planet(s) and sign(s) of course.

I would say the most packed house as a few others have stated. I think stelliums are the most potent.

Yeah. My rising is in aquarius. Uranus is very high in my chart, as well as saturn and the sun.

I have Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune in my 12th all together opposing my Venus in the 6th.

Im a poet, and many told me i have a very vivid imagination

From what I gathered the Solar eclipse is the most important for simplicity, basically the one that is closes to your birth. So if Moon is closer, some use that -- but Astrologers prefer Solar. Full Solar trumps all followed by Full Lunar. If the eclipse is Solar it will be more conscious and easier to bring forth, if Lunar it will be more unconscious. If it is conjunct your South Node that is also significant.

I think this is personal to everyone and their own charts.

In my case, the most important house for me is the 7th where Saturn sits as the handle of the bucket.

It is not necessarily the house with the most planets nor the chart ruler, IMO. But it certainly can be. It's what is in focus in a chart through place of other planets, aspects, what's happening with the ruler of a particular house. So many things!
