Wait, so why can't PisceanDream come back then? She emailed you twice and never got a response.I guess I would like a little clarification on the rules, since many members have been allowed to come back. Some as unfrozen accounts and others under new names. She was a great contributor here and really added to the quality of the site. Not trying to start anything, I just think it is important for all members to be given the same treatment on this issue. IP: Logged |

I haven't broken the rules or ever been kicked out, so I'm not really "returning" lol, because I've always been here. I simply wanted to register under a new username because this one (Lavender) doesn't resonate with me anymore. IP: Logged |

IIRC, she demanded to be unregistered/banned and left in something of a huff, which is pretty close to being kicked out.I know of at least one message board that waits a minimum of one week before taking any such "requests" (often demands) seriously, and LL has shown me why given how many leave in a snit slamming the door behind them only want to come back in about a week (or even a day or two). OTOH, another message board I know of honors all such demands and never, ever lets them return (when a new member has been busted as an old one that snuck back in then they're immediately banned). Perhaps that's why it only happens like once every few years. IP: Logged |

No, no your good! That is totally fine with changing names. People have changed names all the time, and some who unregister come back. So my question to Randall is just simply why she cannot come back? She sent the emails as a request to rejoin and asked what she had to do (very respectfully I must say, I've read the emails!). Because of no response, she made a new email account and submitted a user request in February to rejoin in case having the same email was the problem- and never got registered. Plenty of people have been enrolled since then, so she should have the opportunity too. Edit: wasn't there something like a Christmas rule where banned people could be invited back, or am I losing my mind?

Randall was probably just busy ^Why doesn't she simply join again with a new name? I'm confused as to what the problem is. All she would have to do is click "join today" on the main LL page.
I doubt that she would get banned, unless she said or did something to warrant that.
I missed the drama, so I have no idea what happened past tense - but if she respects the LL rules I'm sure she'll be allowed to stay. IP: Logged |

Odette, see my edited comment.PJ, you are right in that she left upset, but she left because a mod said some really rude and false things (the same one that is "nice") about her- what kind of example is that setting as a mod? Not a good one. Randall, I'm not asking for you to reregister her- all I am asking for is a clarification on the rules and an explanation as to why despite emailing you twice and trying to reregister under a new screen name and email and she never got a response. Maybe there is an explanation, but unless you tell me, I will never know. Given the amount of new people that have registered the last few months, it looks suspicious to the outside eye. I would hope this is not the case. PisceanDream never broke any rules and was a great contributer to the threads. I think she should be treated the same as anyone else who decided to come back. Why should she be the exception? I guess as a fellow Cap stellium I am surprised in that you don't see how this can appear unprofessional. I have students email me all the time, but do I simply ignore the ones that ask me obvious questions or inconvenient demands? No, because that is a part of being professional, you treat all the same. I could say a lot, but I will keep it short. She didn't cross the line, but she walked it. Good contributor to threads? How so? Aside from getting numerous threads closed in HH? I would say more like a contributor to contention. And once she left, instant peace. And then she conspicuously asks to return when Ami is getting ganged up on again. I'm really wasting my time even explaining this to you, because to you she hung the moon. But I like LL to be peaceful, and given my current state of mind on the issue, yeah, she would have been banned. As will anyone who intentionally tries to wreak contention here. I just don't have the patience for it anymore. And she left because someone wouldn't apologize to her? Really?  I'm not saying I have to like everyone here. But I also don't have to put up with outright disrespect either. Calling me a tyrant and other such insinuations along that line and getting getting away with it (because of my patience and tolerance) looks far worse than me not re-registering her. Her goal here was to disrupt the peace. That was evidenced by the restoration of peace upon her departure. Perhaps that was her agenda. Or perhaps she just didn't fit. But she created a spectacle that was an embarrassment to the multitudes who just want to come here to share, grow, and learn. I'm not saying she's a bad person, but she equated me to a tyrant that needed to be overthrown and thought she had to fight some kind of injustice. LL has norms like any other formal group. People who can't conform tend to leave. She knew how to walk that thin line. That line is more narrow now. I do not dislike her, but I do dislike contention, and she was one of the most contentious I've seen here in some time. IP: Logged |
