I'm trying to understand how Transits work. For instance what are the first things you look at when looking at transits? And then how do you apply them to the rest of your chart?

When I am reviewing my own transit chart against my natal chart, I see that I am going through a few transits right now. However, what I'm unsure about is how to apply them to the rest of my chart so that it is an accurate reading. For instance, I see some transits that are supposed to bring about isolation and loneliness but then other transits are saying that I'm going to be really social and go out a lot meeting new people. Some transits say I will have a difficult time in relationships and other transits will say that it is an excellent time to start a new relationship.

Any help to understand the overall picture for transits would be much appreciated!
Here is my current transit chart. The transits are on the outside in green:

Here's my transit chart from a different website (Astrotheme).

All of us have numerous transits going on at any given time.

The first thing to look at is the column of natl planet positions. Prioritize similarly to how high they are in the list: Sun first, then Moon. Then check the list of transit positions of slower moving planets, say Mars outward.

If you are getting contradictory interpretations about what is a good time for this or that, then you're reading computerized cook-book reports that are incapable of synthesis. That takes a long time to learn.

In any case, look at your Sun position in early Pisces. It is being squared now by Saturn. That's a challenge to focus and apply your vital energies in a way that may be limited for a period of several months, more responsibilities, possibly longer hours.

This transit is also happening to your Moon and Mercury since they are so close to your Sun. These two factors alone tell me these next several months are a time to be serious about your life -- serious enough to do some inventory taking or to push an important project through to a finish.

This - or rather these - Saturn transits (3) are enough to outweigh most other factors from faster moving planets, including Jupiter. Jupiter is trine Mars now, which enhances *doing, to aid in your efforts.

Saturn's position is sextile your natal Jupiter, which focuses all expansion urges for the moment into a mentally realistic framework (not big dreams).

With Pluto in mid-Capricorn squaring your Venus added to all this, not a good time for jumping into pleasurable personal relationships. A better time for personal transformation.

However, with Uranus conjunct natal Venus a bit longer, you may come across an interesting new friend or two that could help in this process. This is the transit normally interpreted as a 'go' - a great time to start a new relationship, but not necessarily for your chart now with the Saturn plus Pluto transits.

Saturn in transit square natal Sun-Moon-Mercury means taking care of personal business comes into priority now in a big way. Don't expect anything to come easy and just get it done. Until mid-November of this year.

Wow! Thank you for your response. I wasn't expecting anyone to interpret my chart for me but I'm so happy you did! What you said about it pretty much sums up exactly what I'm going through right now. I ended a four year relationship about six months ago and I'm a completely different person than who I was back then because of all of the changes I'm going through. I have seen nothing but growth and facing my challenges head on and I know I will have a long journey ahead of me with this growth I am going through but I am finally in the right mindset to face them.

Additionally, because I am so focused on myself right now I can't picture myself starting a new relationship. This is the only time in my life where I haven't just hopped into a new relationship right away. Instead I am focusing on myself and allowing myself to grow and experience becoming a new person. So the transits speak truth in that aspect that I need to focus more on myself instead of a new relationship.

So when you are looking at these charts, you usually focus on how outer planet transits are impacting the main planets- sun through Venus? I'm just curious how to really learn to tie everything together like you just did. What usually takes presedence first, second, and third to develop an overall picture?

Well done, then! Sounds like you've been through a lot and are handling it well.

What I was illustrating is to simply go down the list of your natal planets and see what is transiting them in order of Sun, Moon, Mercury. Right there was a lot of action coming from the Square by Saturn.

Any slower planets making transits to your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars will have quite an effect and tend to color the transit picture at any given time.

The slower moving transits are more significant for all of us since they last longer and aren't the 'softies' the Moon, Mercury, and Venus tend to be. Saturn can be very challenging. Jupiter can really open things up, bring some active energies in again. Uranus and Pluto can both be challenging, much slower through their transits and don't contain the clearer solutions that Saturn contains.

The more important transits are the angular ones -- conjunctions, parallels, squares, oppositions, and contra-parallels. If you understand those and deal with them well, you're doing quite fine.
