The Moon actually moved from 18CAN57 to 3LEO31 [21N46 - 20N20]on the day she was born. Which puts Moon definitely contra-parallel Venus [21S18 - 21S02]. When you look at the possible rising signs for the period later in the day when Moon would be in Leo (Cancer -->/Libra not possible) none of them fit her well, since Leo rising would make her a double Leo which is way too much fire for the personality I see in her and her music with which I am so familiar.

So I think it is Moon in Cancer with Asc in Scorpio (or earlier). Scorpio rising offers the possiblity of Asc conjunct Jupiter in the early degrees of the sign, (or nothing in the middle area) or Uranus in early Sag.

I think there is a possibility of a Libra rising chart in the wee hours (before 3 am), but considering Moon CP Venus, we shouldn't over-attribute her asthetic sensibility, beauty, and feminine appeal to a potential rising sign like Libra. She was more a tomboy type earlier in life, as I understand it, which lessens the likelihood of Libra -- except for Asc in late libra conjunct Pluto, or in mid-Libra contra-parallel Pluto.

Her chart is a bit complicated, which is why I have not followed through to a full validation.

I don't find them particularly "dark" per se, but more of expression of frustration in articulating some unfathomable pain and angst.

I think the exaggerated darkness of the make-up and the whole video themes of her songs, are strongly Neptunian; escape, "deathly" peace ,seclusion,loneliness, nameless sadness etc.

Even the band's name "Evanescence" is strongly Neptunian by its definition.

The MC should enjoy strong aspects from the Moon/Neptune. All this obsession with water in her videos.As well as the fathomable melancholy.

I suspect a Libra Asc really. She talks about relationships a lot in her songs; some partner who is witholding love/ not giving love etc.

This Asc would put the Sun/Mercury/Neptune conjunct in the 3rd house-as this lends itself to poetry and verbalizing things a lot.

Her parents moved around a lot when she was young(Jupiter in Scorpio in 2nd).

Plus her father(Sun), was a disc jockey(3rd) and radio commentator.

She lost a sibling(3rd) at a very young age and this is still something very painful for her.

This sibling was lost due to some mysterious illness(Neptune in 3rd).

She is also a female in a very "male dominated" environment. Mars must be active. And it surely is with an aspect to her Sun by square.

Pluto also squares her natal Moon and so I doubt she is the "wilting flower"- even if her Moon was to be moved backwards to Cancer.

I think Cancer on the MC with Moon there is fitting.

The square aspect of Pluto to it brings that "darkness" that is apparent.

She also writes a lot of songs from her heart(Moon) and brings a lot of femininity to the craft.

My verdict; Asc Lib conjunct Mars in Virgo, MC Cancer with Moon there.

The obsession with melancholy and sadness is that Neptune/Sun/Mercury conjunct in Sagittarius.

I have that too(Sun/Neptune conjunct). It felt too close to home when I listened to some of her songs.

Oy vey! Astrotheme again with their junk "birth times." I argued for a Libra rising chart (and Scorpio possibly), and also mentioned a Cancer rising possibility under certain circumstances. There is absolutely NO birth time cited there by anyone!

Aunt Anomalia, I'd already considered a Taurus rising chart, but to me it seems less likely. The Taurus aesthetic is more low key and 'natural' in appeal. However, a Taurus rising chart has some definite possible features that could describe her with Venus up at the MC, Moon-Node in 3rd, etc.

Aries23Degrees, you've made a good case for Libra rising and have tilted my scale in that direction (again) -- pun intended. However, chart scenarios with Moon up at the MC can also have Saturn 20LIB13 at the Asc, which is very, very doubtful to me. In fact, I'm just not willing to consider Libra conjunct Saturn unless Saturn is at least about 6* from Asc in 1st or at least 4* from Asc in 12th. So that would be Libra up to about 14*, and 23+.

A 14 Libra Asc = 5S32 in declination. That would put Saturn [5S43] parallel Asc -- still not to my liking, except that Pluto [5N31] is in even tighter contra-parallel -- virtually exact.

So in checking for possible wedding day (6 May 2007) transits confirming, we see Uranus at 5N31! Jupiter at 22 south would also have been Parallel the IC of a 14 Libra chart. Progressions for the marriage date seem to qualify this chart, at least initially.

However, Mars was at 9LIB43 on her wedding date and it being the ruler of her DC points to a possible Asc there. These are the two strongest possibilities. I can't spend much more time on this. Just too much else to do.

I still think the best way to narrow down all the possibilities is for a fan to get her recorded birth time via twitter or something.

In theory Leo rising with Leo Moon is possible and worth a look. I just considered Moon in Cancer more fitting based on what I've seen of her. I may not be the best person to even try a rectification if I had time for it, because I have not kept up with her music, mostly losing interest after the first album. This is a more complicated 24-hour rectification than usual and they are difficult to start with.
