I got this question from Plutonian Gal on Linda-goodman.com. I love this question because I forgot that I had it. We are not very different, as students of Astrology. Hence, we need to ask our questions and not feel silly or embarrassed. I have come to know Chiron like a friend, so I think I can answer this question. I hope so.

Chiron and Saturn are very different. They may seem the same, in that both seem “bad”. They are “bad” in different ways, if one wants to say that. However, there is a major difference. That difference is that Saturn can result in true change. One can, truly, can rise above Saturn’s lessons. However, it will not be easy or fast. Saturn demands maturity, responsibility and diligence. If one follows these dictates, one can rise above both the sign and house of Saturn.

However, Chiron cannot be transformed in the same way. Picture a person leaving his home and embarking on a trip.He waves goodbye from the back of the car and drives to the airport. However, one can never really leave Chiron, in the same way. Chiron remains as a core wound. Some Astrologers disagree. My point of view is true to the myth, in my opinion. Staying true to the myth is key with Chiron( as well as all asteroids)

Let’s talk about Chiron. We all have one, just like we all have a belly button. However, Chiron presents very different struggles for different people. I am so sure of the impact of Chiron that I will amend the time of birth if Chiron does not fit it’s House. I know many Astrologers will not agree, but I think Chiron can be diagnostic in better assessing the birth time. To put it simply, if Chiron’s House is not your core wound, I think the time of birth is wrong. That is how pivotal I think Chiron is to each person.

I discovered Chiron’s impact from doing charts. I read one book on Chiron, which was very hard to understand because it was very esoteric. Then, I started observing Chiron in the charts. Chiron is an amazing planet( although it is technically a different planetary body)

Chiron is a strange one. It’s most strange traits come out in synastry, but we are talking about natal, so I will stick to that. I have many articles detailing Chiron in synastry.

Study, study, study the House of Chiron. I doubt the House’s wounds will be a surprise. They never are, if Chiron is in its correct House. A study of this nature can offer peace. One may have felt as if one was to blame for one’s misery. One is not. One can look to Chiron to see the biography of one’s pain. I find this to be very healing, myself. Others may feel differently.

I will not write about HOW Chiron functions in each House. I have many articles on that. I will just say that the Astrology student should study the House of Chiron to understand himself better. The sign is not as important because Chiron stays in the same sign for a period of time, so people born close in age will have Chiron in the same sign. House, however, is very, very, very crucial.

Now, let’s talk about Saturn. Chiron will put a hot poker in your soul. Saturn will tell you to eat your vegetables, save your allowance, don’t hog all the toys, be polite, and don’t talk with your mouth full. Saturn is a stern father. He wants you to grow up right. Granted, in some charts, with a very difficult Saturn, the native suffers, as if he had a martinet for a father In these cases, a point could be scored for Saturn to be as difficult as Chiron. That is one reason, people group Chiron and Saturn together.

Saturn, by House, tells us the sphere of life in which the native will learn to be responsible. The House of Saturn carries fear–fear that one is not up to the challenge. However, it carries an innate desire to meet the challenge, as well.

I have not talked about aspects to each because that would need many more articles, but I hope I have explained it. I look forward to your comments!

A great article explaining Chiron and Saturn, thanks Ami Anne.

I also have the impression that both are very different. I had some good experiences with Saturn transits actually, and some brought me reward and recognition for hard work and effort. My natal Saturn is in Libra, 2nd house, which makes me quite thrifty and good at managing money.

Chiron is another story. It brings pain, pure and simple, and doesn’t care if you deserve it or not. My Chiron is in Taurus, 9th house. I could never figure out the wound in the area of 9th house, I feel that it just doesn’t fit there, but my time of birth is for sure correct. However, multiple natal aspects of Chiron (square Venus, opp. Mars) and its location in Taurus make more sense to me as I find my wound mostly in personal relationships. Also, hard Chiron transits are very, very painful and recent hard transits Chiron made to several of my natal planets was one of the worst periods of my life.

Thank you so much, my Friend. Yes, Chiron is a pure, kind of scathing pain. I understand

Wow, first thank you again Ami for expounding on Chiron and Saturn. I'm not the best at "receiving" a message; very chaotic mind and it's hard to ground me in understanding certain concepts of study. But, I love your threads because you're one of a very few that helps me grasp things with such ease. I've had someone work SO diligently on my chart to rectify my time. With Saturn and Chiron, I chose these two planetary bodies (aside from transits) to truly be 100% nestled with the chosen birth time. A lot makes sense with my chart, but with studying Chiron very hard it just doesn't seem to fit me at all. Not to say that my birth time is wrong based upon Chiron alone! But I too, have chosen to use that as a focus; it's such a huge defining factor in a chart! I'm in agreeance with your theory on where it sits in a chart, and how it could possibly cause a change in birth time.

I'll keep studying Chiron in the 5th house, though thus far it's not registering. There's no "Yup, this placement resonates" realization. And as far as my Saturn in 11th house - another difficult placement to embrace with certainty. My chart has a lot of Saturn energy as is. I've always been naturally serious all my life. Idk. I've studied 3 charts and their Chiron placements and without a doubt, they fit like a glove and it amazes me to see that. But mines? smh

Thank you for appreciating it, PG. You made my day.

Put your chart and this question or copy this post in Beginners

I am in the middle of a professional chart and this may take another 3-4 days, so I may have to wait until then or can pop in and help you little by little and will prolly do this.

I can't concentrate if I don't do three things at once

Please, use Astro, com and put aspect lines to Chiron and NN, too.
