I'm naming this thread 'Peeling the Onion' because I just wanted to know your ideas of the process of seeing someone's Asc all the way down to their Moon while getting to know them.

Think of a person you've met as a three-layer onion (ASC first layer, Sun second, Moon third).

How long does it usually take you to peel someone's onion?

When do you see their Sun sign? Is it after days of knowing them?

When do you see someone's Moon? Do you have to be best friends?

Any thoughts...

Sometimes i see the asc first and then the moon but often times i have actually seen someones moon first, i have noticed the moon can be strong in someones personality. Its rare that i see someones sun come through unless their mercury is in the same sign as their sun then their sun can show through in the way they speak and think sometimes or if they have another personal planet in the same sign as their sun sign but other than that i haven`t experienced the sun as being so much of a strong influence really.

I've only began recently to pay attention to people's asc and moon so am just trying to think my reply now.

Asc always makes massive sense in retrospect but somehow is invisible to me at first. Not that I don't respond to the asc and have this asc 'sense' of them at the time but maybe as a mask, it duly does its job of slipping under the radar. I suppose this is the thing you are supposed to see first and I do, hence the retrospect, but I just don't register it - works like a uniform maybe in blending in whilst making a statement

Moon .. I feel quite early on - I think. It's musical though and not concrete.

Sun .. Depends on if am picking up on the moon but this is more logical to me so the less close I am the more apparent.

I always assumed you see the asc first, their mask. Then as you get to know them a bit, you'll see their sun sign. Then when you really get to know them and get intimate, you'll see their moon.

I think I do see asc first but as I say don't register it consciously. If I had to try identify asc I'd overthink it in most cases and miss the obvious

Wow! This is interesting, lol I wonder what people see in me upon first meet.

I'm a double-stuffed Libra (Lib Sun/Moon) with a Capricorn ascendant.

I'm assuming people see A LOT in me upon first meet, I have Neptune and Uranus conjunct the Ascendant. Neptune being the tighter conjunct and Uranus being the weaker.

Most people pick me for a Gemini (my rising sign). I'm a solar Scorpio and a lunar Aquarian.
One of my besties is a Libra rising but is quite reserved and shy at first (Virgo sun, Taurus moon).
Another Piscean friend does not shine so bright on first meeting with her Leo rising.
So yeah it really does depend.

I don;t think its a stupid post, I simply think your asteroid Post 89903 was poorly aspected when you made the post, which is a problem we obviously share.
I like the PixieJane short answer, It depends. I could go for a long one but it is 2339hrs here and I need sleep.
so a very abridged long answer:
PEOPLE SPEAK their charts. I can't put that
in large enough letters.
The suns and moon placement in chart sometimes make it real easy, sometimes not, It depends on aspects.
BUT I DO LIKE THE POST. Makes me THINK.
I hope I have more time to consider it,, I just don't meet new people often currently,
but I do remember using what I was taught, just listen to what people say and they will say their chart, they can't help it.

Great answer! I completely agree. Except when someone has an unaspected Sun, that becomes pretty obvious to me.

I think its a skill that one can acquire through practice.

But the Sun position is usually a starting point from the birthday itself.

I simply can't "guess" all of them. I have to be given the Sun position at-least.

Then I usually "feel out" the energy I am dealing with with my Moon.

For instance;

I went to a birthday party of someone who was born on May 9.

I didn't look up his positions at all and just wanted to put this to the test.

I was expecting a steady Taurus; probably physically attractive,slow-speaking, moving individual and a generally palatable person with a very "down to earth" temperament.

What I met, was an easily excitable and intellectually curious individual.

The movements were far from slow and steady, but fast-paced and sudden.

He didn't have that steady stare that you'd expect from Taurus, but one that bounces from one place to another.

He also was a lot thinner than I expected. Apparently he is a dancer and choreographs for many Broadway artists.

I wonder if you can guess what the general energy that I was introduced to was?

I agree with the above on ''it depends''.

I think if I was too pick someone out of a crowd and guess their signs the chances are that it's actually because I posses one of those signs.

I have a Scorpio moon so I think I can feel the Scorpio in some people, or because of my Leo Rising I look at some people and think ''Hey you look like a Leo''.

Other times it's because they'll have a specific attribute once I start talking to them that I can't ignore.
One of my house mates always identifies herself as a mum, ever since the day I met her she's always talked about it. She's a virgo but I was convinced she must have either Cancer or the Moon in her asc. Turns out she has both. (and when I explained it to her she was overjoyed)

My ex-boyfriend was a Scorpio Asc and an Aries Sun, his Scorpio was a really early degree and didn't seem to have much going on, so he really came through as an Aries.

A girl I work with has a Libra Asc and a Scorpio sun, and when I met her I felt like I could feel all that Scorpio energy, I wasn't surprised at all when she told me it was her sun signs.

I'm not so good at figuring out peoples moon signs, they make sense once I'm closer to them and open that side of myself up.
