You have degrees and minutes, and here you are at 16 degrees, and 11 minutes.

The maximum minutes you can have until you change degrees is 60 (as 1° = 60').

Here, you want to subtract 14 minutes.

First, to get to 16 degrees with 0 minutes (to make it easier), you have to subtract 11 minutes from the 16 degrees 11 minutes.

Then you get:

14 minutes (that you have to subtract in total) - 11 minutes (to get to 16 degrees) = 3 minutes (that are left to subtract).

You are now at 16 degrees, 0 minutes.

You have to subtract the 3 remaining minutes from 16 degrees, knowing that there are 60 minutes, so you get:

60 (minutes) - 3 (minutes) = 57 (minutes).

-> 15 degrees, 57 minutes.

Hopefully this is understandable...
It was way easier in my mind.
