Having watched all of the Harry Potter movies, I wondered if JK just channelled all the magical information or she had prior knowledge i.e. practised or studied herself, Because while the movies don't go into precise rituals etc....because it's a movie(!) but some of the principles are very esoteric in nature which would have only come from either pure channelling OR from prior knowledge of the art. Then I found out that JK practise astrology. Interesting huh?

I'm not surprised.

And there used to be a very interesting site up that detailed a lot of occult trivia JK Rowling apparently knew as it made its way into her books (with creative license of course). I knew the person who put up the website and she'd been through years of intense occult training and study of the Western Mystery Tradition and even she was impressed at the obscure knowledge Rowling seemed to know. (Just to be clear my friend didn't think Rowling was necessarily an occultist, many folklorist could have come across the same knowledge.)

Knowledge doesn't mean she's a practitioner.
I'd imagine, as an author, she might have well-read on research basis. But you never know....it's not as if....she's gonna say I'm a practitioner.

Do you remember the URL? Could always try, archive.org..... it might have been archived there.

The site no longer exists (down by 2003) and the creator of the site is dead.

Check out what I'd said in parenthesis.

Right. I doubt she is. Maybe an astrologist, probably not an astrologer.

Indeed, as astra7 already said there may be an archived version of the website out there somewhere hrmmm...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_archiving

I don't know enough about it but some server likely has it logged in the bowels of its data lol

Well I'm certainly not going to sort through a billion plus Harry Potter saves in the hopes of finding something that went down over a decade ago.

Come to think of it someone else may have put something up on that since then as well. But Harry Potter is just too ubiquitous on the net (and my mind cringes thinking how much Christian Right lunacy I'd have to wade through before I got to something I was actually looking for, and who knows how many of the utterly insane HP crackfics out there would suck me in). Now if it were Dorrie the Little Witch (maybe even The Worst Witch) then maybe, as I doubt there's a lot to sort through there.
