The 9th House deals with higher education, philosophical pursuits/abstract concepts, long distance travel/foreign matters, spirituality/religion, the law/legality and ethics.

It makes me wonder what else will happen during this transit. What do you guys think?

Hmm, the transit would make sense in the 4th House, but I don't think Gemini Rising suits the United States. I mean, I highly doubt the U.S. would have been isolationist/non-intervenionist up until World War I. With Gemini Rising the U.S. would probably have been too tempted to get caught up in other nation's affairs

With Sagittarius Rising, U.S. diplomats could conduct business with foreign nations without getting too involved, and it makes perfect sense that the 1800s were characterized by American pioneers migrating West, in my opinion

If Gemini rising, the chart ruler Mercury was transiting in Gemini, and would have been on the ascendant and approaching a sextile to that Jupiter/Venus/Uranus trine. So the US is highlighted in the eyes of the world.

Also Gemini rising, the Twins, means that there is duality in the US. And the biggest duality is the black-white dichotochomy. On June 11, the US experienced a Mars return with Mars in Gemini exactly sextiling transiting Uranus. And when transiting Mars hit an inconjunct aspect with natal Pluto, that's when the shooting in Charleston happened in June 17. That's a first house event, it happened on the US soil and it was orchestrated by a native son.
