If any of you guys have been following my past posts you should recognize that i am a BIG follower of the angles/houses and I even claim them to be more important than the planets. But what would you consider to be a more dominant role in life? The ASC or the MC? And please don't use textbook definitions. Don't say things like "Well the ASC represents the mask, and MC is your future job" and blah blah blah blah blahhh. I hate those textbook definitions because real life experience always proves that there is more involved. Ok, I'm just curious to know what you guys think. :-) IP: Logged |

The MC is what you do for a livelihood while the ascendant is your basic personality. Sun sign is your purpose in life. The descendant is the type of energy you attract, what goes on around you.So if you have a Leo MC, for instance, you might require a lot of attention to function and might choose a career in the performing arts and feel comfortable when in front of an audience. Gemini MC would like to be able to communicate, socialize, and talk a lot at work, so telecommunications, sales, teaching or publishing are places Gemini MC could be found. If you are reading a chart, a great way to earn points is to focus on the MC and if it's Gemini, talk about how they are most likely in publishing, teaching, or a secretary. Chances are they will be in one of these fields. IF they have Saturn there, chances are they will experience a rise in life and are likely the self-made type. The MC is important because it will indicate career or obstacles. What is the condition of it's ruler? Is it afflicted? If so, there will be obstacles and issues involving the career but not necessarily lack of one. It depends on the planet afflicting. Neptune tends to block plans so they never materialize while with Saturn there's progress but it's slower with much effort paid before it happens. Could be someone who was born poor and must work hard for every cent they earn, never actually earning much but anything is more than they started out with. Or, it could be a person born into a wealthy family with a prominent father who has to set an example, so the situation is a serious one that creates a rigid structure from birth and once an adult, the person with Saturn conjunct MC could acquire a lot of responsibility so there's never a chance to just relax and cut loose. I def agree with the Gem MC description, only i have Gem on my IC while Sag is on my MC. What you said rings true. I think MC/IC gives a more detailed description to who you are and where you are going while the Sun represents what influences your self-esteem and self empowerment.

I think that if someone has planets or the NN in the 10th in the sign of the MC and especially conjunct this angle, then it should be at least as sensitive as the ASC. Maybe same with heavy Capricorn/Saturn.------------------ Anomaling around since 1911. IP: Logged |

I always think about my Capricorn rising! My Gemini sun and Leo moon, as well as the rest of my chart, don't nearly get as much attention from my thoughts as my AC. Also, I work in retail and it's crazy to see how my ascendant plays out. Sooo many customers think I'm 5-7 years older than I am and just the other day someone asked me how many kids I have! Haha it always makes me laugh. Maybe with future transits I will see the power of the MC with my own eyes. IP: Logged |

Honestly, its a kinda silly question. The MC is an extention of the Asc and vice versa, just like an arm is an extension of the body. Its a bit like asking whether arms or legs are more important. So what do we do, tear them off the body and put them to separate tests? They work together. You can have a number of people with the same exact MC sign and degree, but with different Asc signs/degrees. As a result, each person will approach their higher aims in life and the MC/10th potential in the way that suits them. Another way of putting it, is without the Asc there is no person to activate the MC. ------------------

Neither is really more important, but the AC is more involved with everything in a broader sense than the MC, IMO. It's funny you ask though, my Aqua MC, Gemini AC, and Libra Sun form a grand air trine. IP: Logged |

Always cool to see people with same houses. Sort of like we have the same class schedule or something. I gotta pick your brain, if you don't mind. Do you look younger than your age (Gemini AC)? What are you doing work-wise or aspire to do? Does your Aqua MC make you hate being told what to do? I find this a problem with jobs, haha.

ascendant for me for surei don't relate to my mc whatsoever. it wasn't until i got into decantes and dwads and looked at my mc's dwads then i related to that. my original was aquarius mc - nope. no relating to whatsoever but looking at dwads puts my mc at taurus and thats makes a hell of a lot more sense and i can relate to that 1000000x more most people i've looked at or spoken to about MC all agree with me that their MC doesn't suit them at all IP: Logged |

Me neither but I think I will grow into it later since my north node and MC are in the same sign. IP: Logged |

That is true! quote: Originally posted by CosmiqPhuz: Do you look younger than your age (Gemini AC)?
I do have long legs, long arms and long fingers. I use all of them when I talk . I used to look older when I was young and I look like my age today. As I do not have any plastic surgery it could very well be that I look younger. quote: Originally posted by CosmiqPhuz: What are you doing work-wise or aspire to do? I managed to have jobs where I did not see my boss very often. I intend to have a company on my own. It will be unusual and something straight from my head. IP: Logged |

They are both super important IME!My ASC is Leo and my MC is Aries. I feel like the cookie cutter description of the Asc being a mask is so far from what it really is it kind of makes me mad when I see those words used. My Leo ASC describes me through and through. And it doesn't just describe my appearance, but the way I think/act/feel as well. It is a very personal point and anyone who has planets conjunct it set my senses on fire. As for my MC, I think mine is kind of a special situation. My MC is conjunct my Sun/Moon midpoint and is super sensitive. It is also trine it's own ruler (My 5H Sag Mars) which is conjunct my DSC ruler, Uranus. All of which I believe makes my MC a point of attraction for me. But it's more than just attraction. People who touch my MC leave a long lasting impression on me and can even change my views (NOT an easy thing to do) on life and its situations. I think, as far as the traditional view of the MC being related to career goes, that this may be an archaic view of this angle. When life consisted of little more than working to survive, I think the MC could be directly related to one's choice of job/career. I don't think that's all that it is anymore. Maybe it shows the type of work you would be most satisfied in, though. Like for myself, I prefer a fast-paced slightly stressful job that puts me in a position to be the natural compassionate leader that I am. But like I said, it's so much more than that! IP: Logged |

I believe the Ascendant and MC are both important. My ascendant is Gemini rising 29'and my MC is in Pisces. I see traits of both Gemini and Pisces in my personality. IP: Logged |
