I have been recently very intrigued by Saturn. I have Saturn conjunct my ASC--which makes people misinterpret me all the time.

I am told I am reserved mostly.

I am wondering--what is the Karma involved with this aspect?

This too explains my life all too well as far as Saturn's transits and timing in my life:

"If Saturn is on the ascendant, the first house cusp, or somewhere in that vicinity, this has been called the chart of an “Early Riser.” This suggests that during the first years of this life, Saturn will be in the Formative Sector, very inwardly directed, as it moves through houses one, two, and three. At around 7 or 8 years of age, it will arrive at the fourth-house cusp, which always marks a major turning point, upward in the chart. From this point forward, for the next 15 or so years, Saturn will be rising in the chart, as it moves through the houses 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.In fact, from the time Saturn crosses the fourth-house cusp (I.C.), there will gradually be an ever-increasing sense of confidence that builds within the child, turning away from a more inward and formative time, toward a more outward and social experience. By the time Saturn reaches the 7th house cusp and moves into the upper houses, the child will be a teenager, coming into a more outward and aware time, socially, at quite an early age. This young person may very well be socially prominent, perhaps a class leader or the center of social attention. This is why this Saturn placement is called the “Early Riser.”This social momentum continues to rise until Saturn reaches the very top of chart, so around 21 years of age this person is flying high, having rising to some kind of fruition prominence early on. But we should also point out that as Saturn crests the top of the chart, this marks a turning point, the end of the rising part of the cycle and the beginning of a new cycle, as Saturn moves downward through the chart. Many early-riser types have to be counseled to let the past go, and not to attempt to drive forward, because things will not go on just as they have been – always rising.Instead, there will a turning away from what was, the past success, and, very gradually of course, learning to listen to a new, and more inner, message, a message that will grow stronger as Saturn moves downward in the chart, eventually leading to an entirely new cycle of personal investment, and eventual return. So it should not surprise us that at around 30 years of age, just as everyone else seems to be launched firmly in one direction or another, the early-riser types take a turn inward, going back to school so to speak, and gets busy building or investing, while others seem to be harvesting the results of their work. The result stage of the early rise is delayed until later in their 30s, when Saturn crosses the 4th house cusp once again, and begins to rise through the chart, bringing a new cycle of social prominence and the results of all the investment work.

Totally true for me, I have saturn conj. Asc form 12th house.

My IC is scorpio so currently for the second time in my life saturn begins his way up in the chart.

The period from tr. saturn in 10th house until now - in 4th was time of setbacks, dissapoinments, letting go of lifelong dreams. No, it wasn't all bad, but still - I haven't accomplished much.

Hi BumbleBee--YES--this is so true for me as well! I've been going bonkers trying to figure out why the last 15 years have been SO HARD...my 20s and 30s feel like I haven't accomplished as much as I did from 1st Grade through almost the end of college. It has been so perplexing, that I keep looking for transits that may have been the cause...

It didn't help that I have most of my planets in Houses 2-4...

I have Saturn on my IC (Scorpio) as well now--I'm REALLY hoping what they say about Saturn on the rise is true--I could use a good 15 years...

Thanks for sharing--it's good to hear I'm not the only one who's had a big stretch of hard time.

I have Saturn retrograde in Aries (fall) Conjunct my Ascendant (6 degree orb). Saturn also Conjuncts my South Node (2 degree orb). I think much of my karmic debt stems from being too self-centered in a previous lifetime during the Age of Aries. I probably had a huge ego and displayed traits of megalomania.

The interesting thing about this aspect is that Saturn is said to cause a delay in birth, usually for a purpose. In my case this is somewhat true. My mother had a difficult time giving birth to me. If I had been born 8 minutes earlier my Ascendant would have been at 29 degrees Pisces, thus making my chart nonsensical. With my Ascendant at 1 degree Aries my chart looks like it was made with divine intervention. Also, Aries Rising is said to be a gift, as it places most of the houses in their natural signs. I'm still trying to figure out my karmic past, but all in all I know where I need to go in this lifetime and what I need to do.

FreeLeon--both points you make are quite interesting.

As far as your point on karmic ego--I have my Saturn in Leo at 29 degrees--I wonder too if I am supposed to learn humility in this life with that placement.

On your second point--I was born late as well! Possibly even by a day....

I have 1st house saturn conjunct ascendant.

It manifests as extreme restriction/oppression during childhood and early teenage years. At 15 I moved away from that environment so everything became so much better. I don't think I was "flying high" at 21, I was doing well for myself though.

Yep--that was true for me as well. My parents definitely had ideas on how a girl should be--which was the complete opposite of me. Moving away was one of the best things for me! I also have a Sun conjunct Uranus--so I have a HIGH need for independence.

Since I don't know your age--have you experienced a second "rise" of Saturn from H4-10?

I actually made a separate topic for it here if you want to respond there:

I recomend reading Liz Greene's book about saturn - the chapter of saturn in leo. She says saturn is where the undiveloped part of the personality is. With saturn in leo the creative part of us was supressed.

I also have saturn in leo. My birth was late with 10 days, and even then my mom has no labour. Doctors pull me with forceps.

No I haven't experienced a second rise of saturn yet. I haven't even had my saturn return.

I can relate. Everyone around me had ideas of what I should do, who I should be, whom I should get married to...etc... Even when I was little I knew it was wrong of them to pressure me to fit into the mold they created. It felt wrong.

Moving away was the best thing ever. Although I've come to realize that I seem to get thrown into situations that resemble what I experienced growing up quite often.

My sun conjunct uranus too.
