The spiritual path of Aries-Libra speaks of a magical journey from Heaven to Earth and back. So is it a beautiful magical mystery tour filled with heavenly voices and Divine Love? No. Well, at least, not yet.

In Soul Astrology we are often speaking on two levels. First, it is important to know the difference between the personality interpretation of the Zodiac energies, and their higher, Soul vibration. The 12 Zodiac signs represent 12 Divine Intelligences. In their purest form, these energies carry a high vibration and Divine Purpose. By the time this energy has filtered its way through a foggy, confused and egoic human mind, its original “tune” is distorted somewhat. This is the distinction between an Aries Soul (Ascendant) and an Aries personality (Sun/Moon).

The Aries Soul is carrying the higher vibration of Aries (albeit unconsciously for the most part*) or the original “song,” whereas the Aries personality is working on the egoic level of that sign. It’s a bit like waking from a dream in which you understand everything and all is clear. However, upon waking the details become blurred and you lack the language to express what you experienced. (I guess you had to be there!) Just as we go through our day without really knowing how we are breathing or digesting our food, in this way most of us are still largely unaware of the energies that are an inherent part of us at Soul level, and we are therefore personality-centered and personality-driven...

In Part I, we look at the importance of Taurus’ opposite sign Scorpio in awakening Taurus to the treasures of the spiritual journey.

It is said that the Buddha had six planets (plus Chiron) in Taurus.1 It is believed that he was born under Taurus, passed in Taurus, and became enlightened in Taurus. Many important Buddhist festivals are celebrated during the time of Taurus. The highest vibration of Taurus is about revelation, illumination and enlightenment. It is a very mysterious sign, associated with the opening of the third eye.

Esoterically, the ruling planet of Taurus is Vulcan, which itself is hidden (a hypothetical planet once believed to be orbiting between the Sun and Mercury, Vulcan is used only in esoteric astrology.) Vulcan is the blacksmith of the Zodiac, and Master DK says that Vulcan either forges “the chains that bind us” or “the key that sets us free.”2 The choice between imprisonment in the material realm of “Samsara” (the cycle of death and rebirth) or liberation lies in the mysteries of Taurus.

At the personality level, Taurus has a tendency toward stubbornness. This is natural; as the fixed-earth sign, its purpose is to create stability. Anyone with a Taurean friend or relative will know the reassuring sense of stability we feel around our Taurean friends. The purpose of all “fixed” energy is to stabilize; however, the Soul purpose of Taurus relates to the deeper mysteries of “stabilizing” spirit in matter...

The sign of Cancer is associated with home, family, the womb, birth, the Mother, the Moon, water, tides, feelings, emotions, emotional intelligence, empathy, Love and ultimately the highest Love of all: Compassion.

In our Soul’s journey through the 12 zodiac signs, Leo rules the center of the heart but to reach the heart-center first we must pass through mysterious, watery, Cancer and the minefield of human emotions. After the ‘interplay of light’ in Gemini, the Divine Light in form begins to stir in the minds of humanity, and ripple throughout the masses, in Cancer:

They are able to send their Cancerian radar deep into the mass consciousness, take a measurement, and sense what is needed next for the benefit of all. The answer usually is Love. As the sixth sign, the Soul in Virgo has reached the mid-point of it’s journey through the developmental stages of the Zodiac. This is the point where the journey home, the returning, begins. The essence of the Virgo Soul is the Divine Feminine, Mother Earth, purity, one’s vocation, spiritual calling, and Divine Purpose.

From it’s starting point as a ‘point of light in the mind of God’1 in Aries, the Soul has now reached the farthest point of it’s journey – the deepest level of immersion in the material world. This is evident in the characteristics and concerns of the personality-oriented Virgo: work, discernment, precision, perfection, health, the physical body. Yet the true purpose of the Soul in Virgo is not to become overly concerned with mundane affairs but rather to bring spiritual energy into physical matter. To imbue our mundane world with spiritual energy through sacred action. To the Virgo Soul, work is sacred action, and it’s purpose is to elevate our world: to literally bring heaven to Earth by making the World sacred.

So does this mean that all Virgo’s embody the qualities of an Earth Goddess? Well, not exactly. Earth signs are concerned with Mastery of the Physical, and as the Mutable Earth sign, Virgo is concerned with change. Changes in the physical. In the case of the Virgo personality this often means concern with the physical body and physical health. The personality ruler of Virgo is Mercury which means Virgo has the unenviable task of trying to ground Mercurial energy into a physical body. This relates to the deeper spiritual significance of Virgo. The Virgo Soul is somewhat like a Cosmic lightening conductor: here to ground higher spiritual energies into the planetary body.

I found out that she had been a Midwife! I gave birth to my daughters using midwives... Ruth is "perfection" with the way she Delivers her word here. I could just imagine her as a physical (and spiritual) midwife.
