I know that Saturn's transit always generate major changes in one's personality/views but I have recently noticed a major shift in my behavior/personality.

I am undergoing the final part of Saturn in my sign and I feel as though I've really been asserting myself a lot more.

My views have really changed. I used to be a very closed off person who only looked at the glass half-empty. Then, I realized it was because I was trying to conform to my parents' unrealistic expectations. My parents are utterly miserable, yet they're very judgmental of others, especially those who are not religious, of a different race, so on and so forth.

Their views used to infuriate me. My very secluded upbringing instilled in me some serious insecurities along with strong anger bursts. I had so much anger, I could go ballistic on very trivial matters. Anger management therapy would have been advised. That anger was probably due to my abusive childhood.

However, this summer I feel as though I'm not the person I was 6 months ago. I'm so mellow, to the point where I just go with the flow. I'm calm and I know how to deal with situations in a more diplomatic manner without taking it personally.

I realize that what made me utterly miserable was the secluded life I had been living in order to comply with my parents' wishes. I didn't allow myself to be who I wanted to be, because I wanted to make them proud (they've never been proud). Today, I had an epiphany and realized that I've become "free" and this freedom I gave myself allowed me to change drastically.

I used to allow my parents to dictate my every move, until I woke up and told myself I couldn't do it anymore. From that point on, the anger I had turned into optimism and a strong will to be a better person each passing day.

Of course, my parents are not happy with the trajectory I took because I'm not secluded, or overly religious and I mingle with people from all races/religions.

So, my question is, aside from Saturn's transits, what kind of transits change people so drastically?

Or is it simply the product of my traveling/growth?

Thanks!

"Today, I had an epiphany and realized that I've become "free" and this freedom I gave myself allowed me to change drastically."

This happened to me too, except it was about a week ago. I think Saturn is the main culprit here, since Saturn has been in my fourth house.

Other than that, Uranus is trine my Sun-Mercury exactly, and my AC 3 degrees. It's 6 degrees from my moon.

Something that specifically got intense last week was tJupiter conj. my Mars in the 1st, which is squared to tSaturn and natal Pluto-Jupiter in the 4th. Becoming my own person. Breaking free of old habits learned from abuse.
Feels good

Thank you very much for your quick reply!

It does, doesn't it?

I'm happy to hear you're now on the path of freedom and self-acceptance! Congratulations!!

Breaking free from old self-destructive habits was a long-awaited transition.

Don't you feel like you've become more "sane"/"healthier"?!

Becoming my "own" person is exactly how I would define this change. Letting go of other people's expectations and opinion of you is freeing. I've let go of all of my inhibitions.

It didn't happen overnight as I think I had to do a lot of introspective work but this week most definitely marked the culmination of this internal analysis.

I'm definitely undergoing a shift in my personality, or rather an awakening of a part of my personality that was dormant for as long as I can remember. I've had satur. Transiting my first house.
I actually feel that I'm allowing my anger to surface and am finally asserting myself. So the anger thing is opposite to your experience lol. Such HUGE changes at the moment.

It feels like the universe is on acid right now.

MineAgain,

thumbs up for this post, and congrats to you for freeing yourself from these shackles! Indeed, other people's (especially parents') expectations can be the main reason to hold one back from developing one's full potential, even from being happy, and one needs to find this space of freedom in one's own mind to break free from that. Sad but true. My SO who's also a Scorp Sun experienced much the same thing you described re: the parents, so I guess the Saturn transit over his three Scorp placements was indeed responsible for that change. But boy was it a painful process, and hard to watch.

In my experience, Saturn transits have indeed brought the most decisive changes in my life and personality as well. Most of all, it was the transit of Saturn over the natal 8th H Sun and Saturn many years ago. At that time, I also had tPluto opposing my 8th House Ruler which is also placed in the 8th House, and that kinda added to the experience, making it a life-and-death matter. Pluto has been important for me transit-wise also at around age 15 - at that time it crossed my natal AC and the transit from the 12th to the 1st House was very noticeable, it felt much like the stuff you describe, freeing oneself from the shackles of other people's opinions. Suddenly I didn't care anymore whether people approved of me or not and just did my thing, and life became so much better and I attracted new, positive people into my life that way. But Pluto is my Chart Ruler so that may be the reason why its transits affect me in a positive way because lots of other people report traumatic rather than positive changes through Pluto transits.

Agreed. Esp changes for the better that are a result of learning a lesson. Changes that are more or less permanent.

For temporary changes maybe something like uranus sq sun.

Definitely Pluto. Pluto transits causes you to lose something in your life (whether it be a job, relationship, identity, etc.) so you can be 'reborn' again.

I think when an outer planet touches your natal planets through transit, you will experience a change in personality. However, each planet will change your personality in different ways.

Example: Jupiter (feeling more optimistic, however these transits aren't as permanent)

Saturn : Causes you to experience struggles with hard aspects. Require you to work alot but ultimately you will grow in the end. Huge reality check

Uranus: These transits can cause you to shake your identity in unexpected ways. Doing things outside of the box

Neptune: Definitely increases your softer, spiritual side...Compassion and emotions are heightened. Alot of feeling lost...Losing your sense of purpose in life, direction. But in the end, you have to lose yourself to find yourself again.

Pluto: Difficult but true definition of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You will DEFINITELY be forever changed with this transit.

Since learning astrology, the strongest one has been prog. moon entering Scorpio from Libra.

Have to edit though: I also did have major transits at the same time, like tr. NN on asc, and Uranus squaring most of my personal planets.

Oh wow. Sometimes you need to exteriorize the anger your had been internationalizing for far too long in order to start anew.

Thank you so much for your support Vajra! It means a lot. Your words resonate so much.

tSaturn in Scorpio was a very painful process. Those two years were extremely trying. It was bullet after bullet. I personally could never get a break then. I was angry, depressed and pessimistic all the time but to a higher degree than usual.

Once Saturn left Scorpio, I realized I had to exteriorize my insecurities, anger and resentment in order to heal those deep rootes wounds. Saturn forces you to look at your fears, wounds and inhibitions to become a better person. If it weren't for Saturn, I'd still be an inhibited dysfunctional person.

Parental influence, especially when toxic, is really hard to break free from because they instilled in you this fear of "disappointing them". The moment you realize your happiness comes from making yourself proud first, that's when the energy starts shifting. This shift doesn't have to be egoistical, but purely internal.

This is so true. I only attracted dysfunctional people when I was dysfunctional myself! Your internal thoughts create your reality!

This transit feels like a sort of revival.

It reminds me of when I once tried to break free from my parents shackles in 2005 but I ended up reverting back to conformity. It's coming full circle.

Whenever the outside planets touch any other angles...

Like Neptune touching your MC. Or Uranus touching your IC

Angles reveal 95 percent of everything about us. And the outside planets reveal how we are being impacted by the generation

The slowest moving transit of all-Pluto- has some monumental effect on the personal planets.

When it aspects the Sun ,IME this could be the biggest change of all.

Hi MineAgain,
Like some people have already commented, I TOTATLLY understand what you're talking about. I have been having horrible luck trying to find work. I'm also at home with my parents right now trying to figure things out, but through the process I feel like I have become a completely different person.

Astrologically, Saturn has basically been harassing my ascendant by hanging out in my 1H almost all of 2015 (thanks to the retrograde). Pluto has been in my 2H squaring my North Node and my 2H ruler and is trine my IC, Sun, and Merc.

I think those are the big 2 for me right now - Saturn has a big influence in my chart thanks to some major aspects and Pluto is my chart ruler.

Because I've been home all this time, I've been forced to deal first-hand with my parents' issues. I love my parents very much, but they have made some really bad choices in life. Instead of dealing with them and trying to be better, they get angry and take it out on other people. They are also unhappy but completely unwilling to change that - It's both sad and infuriating because their drama always effects me and my siblings in some way. I didn't really realize how MUCH of an effect it had on me until recently.

Needless to say, once I started putting the pieces together and realizing that I am NOT my parents and that I can live a life that is my own and not a reflection of theirs, it was like a switch went off inside my head and my personality changed. I felt so much more zen, lol. I was always a pushover, but now I'm much stronger in my self yet I'm not angry or aggressive. I just am...if that makes any sense.

I think, like NYCdodger mentioned, Saturn on my AC and Pluto touching my IC probably contributed this change a lot.

Either way, good for you for finding that peace within yourself You're likely setting yourself up to attract some really positive things in your life.

Thank you so much for sharing your perspective! Congratulations on your progress! I really hope things will start improving for you very very soon

Saturn always isolates us so we can deal with your own issues without any distractions. When we're not "forced" to isolate, we can't look within and heal. Isolation is never easy, especially when you're struggling professionally, but I am sure you will see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Saturn always leaves a gift upon its exit, I hope you will be granted the wish you've been praying for.

The "switch" metaphor is so accurate!

It's as though you read right through me because our experiences are similar! I've been looking for a job and that's why I returned home, which obviously meant I had to deal with my parents' dysfunctional environment. Just like yours, mine take their anger out on other people. The atmosphere was so toxic up until a couple weeks ago.

Instead of getting angry like I used to, I became the peace maker. I sat everyone down and asked them to speak their truths. They all did, it turned into a huge blow up which cleared the resentments their had towards each other. I've been communicating more effectively since! That's how I gathered I've become a completely different person.

They're still very narrow minded and ungrateful despite their success, but that is their problem. As long as they're not fighting like they used to, the rest is not my business, just like my life isn't theirs.

I hated Saturn's initial transit, but I've come to realize that it made me an adult. I still don't like being isolated and restricted though! Yuck.

What a great perspective on these tricky Saturn transits. "Isolated" is the perfect word to describe how I feel right now - not because I'm not going out and spending time with people or anything like that, lol. I just feel as though it's hard to talk to most people about what I'm going through because they don't really understand. Most people can sympathize, for sure, but beyond that I think my perspective on everything is just so different because of my experience that it makes me feel like I can't always connect.

I'm definitely feeling much more matured though. Being forced to face these things and struggle has given me a much different outlook, but I oddly feel very empowered in many ways. I agree though - I'm getting tired of the restrictions and slow progress

That's awesome and takes guts! I've been much more vocal with my parents about their negativity and lashing out. They seem to respect my space a bit more now but yea...old habits die hard haha For me I think I just finally learned how to distance myself from them. I noticed a huge difference when their negativity just stopped bothering me so much. I didn't realize how much energy I was spending just trying to keep the peace and fly under the radar rather than be myself. Exhausting work, lol.

Amen to that! I think that's a hard but incredibly freeing lesson to learn (like you mentioned in your first post).

I can completely relate to what you're experiencing. I do think things will turn around for both of us though Seems like we're headed in the right direction anyway, lol.
