What happened?

I have this aspect forming right now. I'm a little scared because I've noticed that when progressed aspects are almost exact, SOMETHING always happens and Mars square Sun seems kind of ominous.

When my progressed moon was conjunct my natal Pluto in Scorpio a few months ago, my entire life changed in a heartbeat (of course tPluto was also in exact square with my natal sun). Then when my progressed midheaven was in exact square with my natal Jupiter I started getting random job offers left and right...things I hadn't even applied for.

Even if it is not Mars square Sun, please tell me about your experiences with progressed aspects. I am interested.

Obsessing a little now.

I just looked and saw that on the same day exactly one year from today that pMars is in exact square with my natal sun, tPluto will be in exact square once again, and tSaturn will be exactly trine my MC. I'm freaking out.

I have this progression now. It started some weeks ago and will be active for the next 3 years :/

What houses and signs are involved in your case?

In my case, progressed Mars in the 4th house (Sagittarius) square my natal Sun in the 1st house (Virgo). I was afraid that this aspect might make me more accident-prone but so far, the changes are more internal. Even if this is only the beginning of the progression, I noticed that I lose my patience more easily and tend to be more frustrated and express my anger more openly. People irritate me more than before.
I am also more physically active and I will start a new job in some weeks so I plan to channel this negative energy in these directions.

Progressed Mars in Cancer 12H square Sun in Aries 10H.

Mine has been forming for a long time now, but it will be exact in exactly one year from today.

I suppose anger has been a theme in my life for awhile now. There have been a lot of changes, including a divorce, so definitely conflict with males. But really just an angry, "eff everything" attitude in general. I trust literally no one, but I think that is my progressed moon in Scorpio more than anything.

How do you feel the house placements have manifested as far as the activity associated with this progression?

Every time a slow moving planet transited my 4th house I always experienced deep internal changes, sometimes change of dwelling place. I think that pr. Mars there squaring my Sun in the 1st house might cause these internal changes to externalize, hence my anger which so far tended to be directed to members of my family, especially my mother (4th house). I hope Mars in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, will make these outbursts of anger temporary and short-lived. At leat this was the case so far.

In the case of your progression, Mars is not well placed in Cancer, as it is in the sign of it fall. Cancer rules thing related to family, home, roots. I think that the fact that your natal Sun in the 10th house was affected by the square from Mars, might have manifested as the change in social status (=divorce), as the 10th house is also related to social status.

I think with this kind of progression it’s good to have something which could calm down the emotions, such as a good trine or sextile of Saturn or a positive Jupiter transit or progression. I will be having progressed Sun conjunct Saturn in the near future but I’m not sure if it can mitigate Mars square Sun progression.

I haven't had the square, but I did have prog Sun Parallel natal Mars in 2005. While it was exact/near exact (within 0*04') I had an ego-based conflict pop up from someone who reacted as if I was behaving in some autocratic fashion when I was only taking initiative. (Some projection on his part).

There's no point being in a state of apprehension of 'ominous' things. That is your consciousness saying you don't think you can handle what pops up. Don't do that to yourself. Things are always better when we come from a positive anticipation that some less than desirable circumstances might develop, but we can handle it, make decisions and change those circumstances.

In my case, I found it better to start focusing on my own agenda, instead of group efforts during that prog Sun to natal Mars period. That is generally the idea. I could have asserted myself more clearly and fought for my position, but I was in a healing phase then and that seemed to run contrary to what I wanted.
