The 4 seasons as we know are separated into 3 different phases which eventually leads into a total of 12 phases in a year. Each season has a specific purpose and it pretty much describes the current condition of mother nature herself. A constant repetitive cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The seasons of this year are not the same as 50 years ago. This is because the essence of the seasons and the 12 phases are constantly "pushing" life into a higher direction and evolution. These "3 phases" that are found in every season are called "modalities". In astrology these 3 modalities are Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable.

Cardinal in astrology represents new opportunities, a fresh start, and a new direction. Anything that is "new" and "original" is dealt with and handled by Cardinal energy, the beginning of the season.

Fixed in astrology represents prominence, fruition, organization and putting the pieces together. Anything that deals with handling and "molding" is dealt with fixed energy, the midpoint of the season.

While Fixed energy deals with fruition, Mutable energy deals with "reaping". Mutable represents transitions from the old to the new, the harvest, breaking down, the end result and moving circulation of the finished work. Anything that deals with "spreading" is dealt with mutable energy, the endpoint of the season until a new opportunity arises again (cardinal).

The 3 modalities although the same quality, are experienced differently because every season is different. What we experience in the Spring, will always be completely different from what we experienced in the Autumn. Every season has its own energy that is required for the proper conditioning of the Earth, and symbolically for our own spiritual growth. These are what every season represents...

SPRING: Discovery, the entering of a new place and world

The beginning of Spring represents seeing the new opportunities this discovery is revealing and claiming it as yours. (Aries).

The midpoint represents putting structure to this new discovered world, and seeing it is taken care of with slow progression. (Taurus)

The ending represents spreading the bloom, the life, the new discovery with other forms of life and nature.(Gemini)

SUMMER: Self-Esteem, awareness and experiences. The Sun shines throughout most of the day and evening.

The beginning of Summer represents the new opportunity one has in discovering what nurtures them and what gives them security, this is the transition from Gemini. (Cancer)

The midpoint of Summer, represents the highest results one experiences when bringing together their Self-Esteem, awareness and empowerment (Leo)

The ending of Summer represents the attentiveness of the self and the reaping of the harvest. Focusing on, and taking care of what one has gained through their experiences (Virgo)

AUTUMN: Discovering interactions with OTHERS. Night begins to become more transparent than the day, meaning the focus on the self and external matters are no longer as important as the night of introspection. Think of the leaves falling away from its familiarity and roots

The beginning of Autumn details a new discovery on interactions as well as a freshly new path on dealing with other people and patterns. This is from the meticulousness of Virgo. (Libra)

The midpoint of Autumn details the prominence and organizing of interactions. The molding of trustworthiness and full intimacy. (Scorpio)

The ending of Autumn details the end result of that intimacy, and sparks a new direct approach to others through introspection, knowledge and learning more about the self from others and personal adventures with others. (Sagittarius)

WINTER is a meditative season. This is when darkness owns most of the day. It is the season of isolation, maintaining and getting rid of anything and everything that does not serve sufficiency.

The beginning of Winter deals with the resources gained, earned and KEPT from past interactions (Sag). New opportunities to make sure you have whatever keeps you safe through the darkness. (Capricorn)

The midpoint of Winter represents using the resources to provide what is best for your place(s) of establishment. These "resources" are meditative thoughts, not just material. (Aquarius)

The ending result of Winter represents the total loss of everything. What was once the darkest point in the year is slowly beginning to change as more light becomes noticeable. The dissolving of the darkness to ascend from nothingness is the result of this meditation. (Pisces)
