I am having a Jupiter conjunct ASC transit soon (6 more degrees or so) but i have begun a fitness program that would make me more fit and thin than i am now. I don't need to lose much but some kilos would be nice though i concentrate more on my inches not pounds and they are becoming smaller. But i've heard that Jupiter conjunct ASC transit makes you gain weight not lose it. Somehow very differrent from me - i've been working out so while i am at my highest weight, i am also at my lowest inches/fittest state i've ever been. I like what i see in the mirror and have all the motivation to keep going and work out as hell. Could Jupiter on ASC mean that i am self-conscious and having my body transformed to my best shape ever? IP: Logged |

I gained seven pounds during the Jupiter transit to my 1H. But, I made some changes to my diet and got into exercising every day. Now, I'm at what I consider visually to be my ideal weight. So, "expansion," which is Jupiter, can be literal, i.e., weight gain, or improvement, as in creating something more desirable or ideal, at least that's been my experience. IP: Logged |

I agree with Peony. I just finished a Jup/asc transit and I put on a bit of weight. But I think it also made me more "self aware" of my physical body. By the time it passed, I made some changes in how I take care of myself.Good for you by the way! Keep at it. Not many can say they like what they see in the mirror. IP: Logged |

It's because the sign it's in. Virgo is health and Jupiter expands whatever sign it's in.Gaining weight would probably be Jupiter in Taurus, Cancer, or Pisces. IP: Logged |

I had Jupiter in Virgo going over my Asc. when I was in the 4th month of my pregnancy. That's when you really start to show. I also think it was then I suddenly couldn't walk anymore because of my pelvis. Fortunately that lasted not long, also started physiotherapy. When Saturn went over my Ascendant I lost weight, three or four kilo's. Could it also be you will gain more muscle? IP: Logged |

Well, I can't speak of the transit, it usually brings me money, not weight. But I have Jupiter in the 1st in Scorpio - a water singleton, and I have never been overweight. Even when I was pregnant, my weight was heavier, yes, but in the "normal' range for my height.Always thought Jupiter = weight a bit of nonsense TBH. Taking the theory of expansion a bit too far. Over-indulgence that leads to weight gain seems more Venusian to me, Jupiter expansion seems more about material extravagance or luck, or expansion of the mind. End of the day: eat more than the body's energy requirements, or build muscle through weight-bearing exercise - gain weight. Jupiter can't make anyone do this, eating/lifting can. IP: Logged |

Virgo/6th house also rules body issues. I have Jupiter here now and I've gained 12 lbs. I don't go up and down in weight like that either. Ive stayed the same weight for the past 5 1/2 years. Its no cooincidence. Saturn in the 6th made me lose. Jupiter brings out my ethical side. Since it's been in my 6th, I found myself not wanting to eat meat. IP: Logged |

I didn't study astrology the last time I gained weight but I looked back and it happened exactly when Jupiter went over my ascendant. Now I'm gaining weight again and its happening while Jupiter is in my 6th house. Definitely not nonsense in my case, but the energies of the planets affect us differently. I feel Jupiter transits more so than other planets.

I am not doubting your experience! But one would think that I would be perpetually overweight if that were the case, with Jupiter in the 1st H? Perhaps the sign makes the difference? But again, my weight rarely changes, and I have Jupiter transits too. Anomalies like this send up red flags about interpretation for me. I still think overindulgence RE food/drink is the realm of Venus - shouldn't we look to the myths and archetypes? IP: Logged |

The sign definitely makes a difference. For example, if you had Cancer in the 1st, you might be more aware of food in your life. In your case, you may have an expanded sense of Scorpion traits that directly influence the "self". The combination of Jupiter & Venus plays a huge factor too. When these two are brought together, it's a recipe for weight gain. Venus makes us want the things that makes us feel good, sweets, rich foods, and Jupiter expands that. In my case, Venus isn't too far from my ascendant. So I've recently had T Venus & T Jupiter Conjunct N Moon in the 5th, followed by Jupiter transiting my 6th and also T Jupiter Opp N Venus <---this last one had a profound effect. 12 lbs later, I'm out of the denial phase and learning a few lessons...sigh Weight gain/ loss also depends on our will power and genetics. You may have aspects in your natal chart that give you a strong sense of will, which if you do, I'm jealous! IP: Logged |

I lost quite a bit of weight when Jupiter passed over my ascendant last year. I was trying though. When Jupiter went retrograde it went back into my first house and I had a major life event happen that caused a lot of stress and stole my appetite, so I lost more weight. It's actually been since it's been in my second house that I've gained some of it back. IP: Logged |

I think it depends on the sign jupiter is in. I have natal jupiter tightly conjunct my Cancer ASC. As a Cancer, I definitely had a tendency to put weight on easily. I am 5'11 so I had to stay physically active all my life to keep my weight in check. However, in 2013 transit jupiter was going over my natal ASC and I lost a ton of weight. But that was also because I was going through a divorce so stress probably was a factor as well. My pASC has now gone into Leo and even in Leo, transit jupiter on my ASC has allowed me to drop weight and I'm in as good of shape now as I was playing college sports.IP: Logged |

Hey Selene, just realised I have it coming too! We have the same Ascendant Virgo. Mine is 15 degrees! Let's see how this one goes then. IP: Logged |

Selene, sounds like you are using your windows of opportunity positively. Transits and progressions are just that -- windows of opportunity. How we use them is up to us. We are responsible for the results. There is no dictionary definition or implacable result indicated by the astrological factors.Jupiter in transit will time weight gain only for those who have that tendency indicated in their natal charts, or who are indulging themselves or neglecting treatment of an unknown condition related to water/fat metabolism. Also, it is quite possible that your Asc is actually at an earlier degree and that Jupiter has already begun transit conjunct your Asc. This is not uncommon. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Complete Rising Sign Descriptions IP: Logged |

Kannon is correct about Jupiter's effect on weight gain being specific to people with the natural tendencies built in.You won't find many people more sensitive to Jupiter/Venus transits and weight gain than me. I'm a Taurus Ascendant with Jupiter in the 1st. I'm very active and maintain myself in good health and shape until one of these transits come in. I lose my mind. I begin consuming an extra 3.5k cals a week or more resulting in gains of anywhere between 1-5 lbs of fat, and sometimes much, much more. I'm talking pure fat, I use skin fold calipers and count my calories year round without fail (it is the only way to manage my appetite). Because of this built in indulgent nature of mine I'm suspectible to many forms of tJupiter and tVenus transits that make me want to indulge other than 1st house crossings or Ascendant aspects. When they aspect my Sun for example, I get a sweet tooth. But a lot of this is built into my personality and all the transit does is make the fight much harder. IP: Logged |

don't forge"t that this jupiter transit in virgo is kind of special because of the supporting trine from pluto in capricorn, so all the virgo ascendant are really helped by this jupiter transit though jupiter is not at ease in virgo, but trine from pluto can give you determination to lose weight and go for what you want for your body as you pursue a daily diet, traingin program etc...current jupiter trine pluto is really fine for this!IP: Logged |

I believe the more more more energy of jupiter on the ascendant will mean you will try to put more emphasis on the image you project out onto the world. Because the asc isnt necessarily how you physically look, more like the vibe you project, physical appearance included but not the only thing.Sounds like the jupiter energy is effecting you, making you want to improve your self image. Transforming you to a better version of you. Nows the time to do it, since its the planet of luck and expansion and reward. You hard work will pay off.
Yes, I feel that! Also, my ASC is progressing through the last degree of Virgo and in a year it will be in Libra. So definitely a change there! The desire is huge and the motivation as well. Almost the same as i had when Saturn transited my second house (yes, second house, not first). Only then my self esteem was a crap, no matter how much weight i lost (and i was very skinny at the end of that transit and still thought i had more to lose). Now is the opposite. As i've gained back all those 15 pounds i lost back then, i actually look good because i've gained more muscle and my self confidence is great. Now i'm doing this for myself, not for all the wrong reasons i did it last time. IP: Logged |
