I like your theory. It matches my experience with my sun-Neptune brother and my Pisces moon brother. Sun-Neptune is more extroverted and uses music to bring people together and amplify the good feeling at parties. Pisces moon is totally into music but less obvious about it. He does just randomly start singing, and he sings well, so that always captures my attention and has a strong effect on me.
Like when I first told him I like Elvis, he just stared at me sadly for a second, shook his head "no" and then sang these lines from Suspicious Minds:
We're caught in a trap --
I can't walk out --
Because I love you too much baby....
And it just delighted me. He really embodies the spirit of the song.
I'm a Pisces moon myself and really don't consider myself any kind of DJ, and I rarely if ever play music in a party setting.
But I've always listened to a lot of music, especially alternative and indie bands. Many times in college (which is the last time I was consistently around a lot of different people) I just had something playing in the background and someone would walk in wondering what it was...then THEY would love the song and promote it.
This happened a lot with my Capricorn roommate who was much more outgoing than I am. I'd be playing something, she would walk in, like the song, and turn the volume all the way up so everyone on our floor in the dormitory had to listen. LOL
That happened with this song, which she adopted and played all the time (loud):
Luna ~ California All the Way
Though there were other times that I would just set a scene within my room, to create a mood, and music was part of that, along with Christmas lights, scented candles, the way I arranged colors...it wasn't with the intention of pleasing anyone but myself...but some people who experienced that would tell me for a long time afterwards that it was such a special memory for them, or it even opened up for them a new way of thinking.
That happened with a friend one day when I was playing this song that she had never heard before:
Magnetic Fields ~ 100,000 Fireflies
Another roommate that year even used to sneak into my room with her boyfriend and recreate "my scene" with my music, which apparently he loved. I know he bought at least one CD for himself and played it at his place. He liked this song:
Sensefield ~ Voice
Not asking anyone to listen , but I feel my story would not have been complete without the actual music...

And please don't quote, I might edit this later. I realize I kind of went off topic.
