Not sure about short-term transits - I'm not as familiar with those - but when I was finishing up my first bachelors degree, Saturn was transiting my 9th house - which falls in Scorpio and is also the location of my natal Pluto. Talk about intense studying - I lived and breathed studying the entire time it was there, really refined my studying/learning skills and then made a perfect score on my professional exam on the first try...

When Jupiter passed over my 9th house nine years ago, it did so with a stellium of other planets (Sun, Mercury & Mars) and Venus was also conjunct my MC. It had a similar effect as well. I devoted myself 100% to studying, made top grades and was accepted to several great schools.

I would look at your ninth house, what sign it falls in, how that ruler is affected, if any transiting planets are passing over your ninth house or affecting its rulers.
