Hello! I recently posted an introduction in Knowflakes - so feel free to check that out for some info on who I am and all that...

A friend of mine recently told me of her success conceiving by using what she told me is an Indonesian method having to do with the moon. The way it works, is you find out what phase the moon was in the day you were born - and then aim to attempt to conceive on a day when the moon is in an identical phase.

Of course my first objection was "but my ovulation is a week away from my birth moon phase". Her reply was , "just wait".
So I did, and within a month, inexplicably, my best day for conception had coincided EXACTLY with the moon phase. Bizarre!

my friend said - "not really - there are many documented cases of a woman's body aligning with her moon phase, once the decision to conceive is firmly made".

So - we've given it a try and I'll know if we were successful or not in early October.

Not only was my friend successful doing this - but I've since told 2 other women about it - and same thing happened to them! Within a month their cycle lined up with the moon phase and then after only 1 attempt, hey presto - they're pregnant!

Has anyone else ever hear of this??? Fascinated to know!!!

Yes I've heard of it.

And I do believe in it, because of my experiences. It's quite extraordinary how I got pregnant with my two youngest, because the timing of conception was way off the center of the cycle.

Then I read about this. My husband and I were both born four days after a new moon, so that is peak PEAK time for us, though I don't know all the specific details of how the body amplifies fertility at those times.
Maybe the, um, necessary ingredients are just strengthened and preserved longer at that time? Maybe one even ovulates again if they sense an "opportunity" for conception?

I really don't know. I just know not to trust the Rhythm Method. ETA: Not saying it doesn't work, just that I am paranoid and wouldn't use it.

Good luck

Good thread Ceres_Moon :thumbs up:

@Faith,

By the Rhythm method do you mean fertility awareness/charting (basal temperatures, cervical height, firmness and mucus)?

Because I have used this method successfully with my ex partner for a couple of years, and have had unprotected sex in the past with him after I had ovulated but during my natal moon phase.

I currently cycle with the new moon and am born at balsamic moon so if was sexually active and practicing that method I would have already ovulated and have unprotected sex at that time....

How come I didn't/don't get pregnant? Is it because the intention and desire to wasn't there?

Because I do believe in this, but as I said practice the fertility awareness where my ovulation occurs before my natal moon phase yet don't get pregnant with this method.

ETA: without going into further detail, it was for sure not a question of whether or not actually being fertile on either part... As we both definitely were.

Hey Ceres_Moon!

I'm actually gonna try this method for the 1st time within my current cycle. However, my ovulation date is off from my moon phase. My ovulation was a few days ago and my lunar conception date is September 27th. But anyway I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi deepseablues,

I didn't chart anything, so I shouldn't have put down the Rhythm Method, since I wasn't actually formally using it.

(I'm not saying it's not dependable, just that I am being extra extra careful now! I'm done having kids )

It's just that I had a regular (though long) cycle, and I only took a risk just before I was expecting my period, but still got pregnant.

ETA: I think I spoke too soon ~ I don't know the exact dates for when I conceived, because I wasn't really into astrology back then, and wouldn't have been positive of the exact day anyway.

It's just ever since I read about what the OP posted, a few years ago, I have speculated that that was a factor. I was fertile when I wasn't supposed to be.

I just ran a chart for the day exactly 9 months prior to when my son was born. The chart for that day has a new moon. If I conceived him about four days after that (so he was born four days early) then it matches.

So it's possible...

Yes, I remember in my case it was also when Sun/Moon were same distance as natally.

Hi Faith! Thanks for your reply! Yes - we have been working with the rhythm method for about a year and it didn't work out. In fact, I ended up getting pregnant in March totally outside of my charts etc. That one ended in miscarriage mid-April. So I am hopeful that this idea will be more successful!

Thanks Deepblue! Glad to find some people interested in this!

Yes - from what I was told and have experienced in myself and with other women I told about this - intention has a lot to do with it. When I first heart this - my ovulation and moon phase were off by a week - but then by the following month, my AF had come early and everything was in sync. I've heard this at least 2 other times so far! So interesting!

Yeah - let me know what happens! You might also need to wait a month or so - and then likely you will find that they are in alignment. That is what has been the case so far!

I will add though - that my astrologer friend pointed out that in my case Jupiter is sitting opposite my ascendent right now, so she's not wanting me to get my hopes up just yet.

Pisces ASC?

I'm a 0 degree Aries so I'm right behind you!

Just curious why does Jup Opp ASC deter pregnancy?

I'm an aquarius ascendent. She said that in her experience, she sees most of her clients getting pregnant when Jupiter is in the first house. I don't know enough about astrology to really know if this is true or not - but that's what she told me a couple of weeks ago.

Interesting!

I've noticed pregnancy also happens when the moon or Jupiter is in the 1st on Solar Return charts.

My pregnancy that ended in miscarriage happened when Jupiter was Opposite my natal moon.

I'm really sorry to hear that. It's tough. I was nervous to try again because it really took my body a good 4 months to get back on track. Meanwhile we got married and I felt like a huge blob of blah in my dress on the day. Not important - i know. I didn't marry for the dress!

I don't know where my other planets and placements are right now. So other than working with this moon phase, I have no clue what I'm doing, Lol.

Thanks! They're more common than most think, but yeah it sucks when it happens.

I don't know much, but I've read on old posts here that pregnancy will show up on the SR chart with either the moon/jupiter in the 1st house or the 4th or 5th ruler on the ASC. I've tested this out with some friends charts and so far, it seems to be true.

I've also read about the moon study you mentioned. I think it makes total sense, and could explain why the rhythm method fails sometimes. It's possible women are ovulating 2x. Once mid-cycle and once during their natal moon phase.

Sorry for your miscarriages and troubles.

I was infertile for a while after my first child, my son, was born. I did an intense fasting cleanse and got pregnant immediately (two weeks later) with my daughter. I think the fast was crucial, but at the same time, I had some astrological factors that were supportive:

1) My progressed moon had just entered my natal moon sign.

2) Aries Mars was transiting right by my natal Jupiter when I conceived, and Jupiter rules my 5H.

3) Jupiter in Cancer, transiting my 12H then.
That doesn't look auspicious. However, natally I have 5H Sag Neptune...so having Jupiter transit the house of Neptune may have helped me.

4) In my Solar Return chart for that year, I have Mars right on the 5H cusp, and it's conjunct my natal moon (2.34 orb.) SR moon is tightly trine my natal Mars. I believe moon-Mars is potent for conception.

5) My Leo MC in the SR chart is tightly conjunct my daughter's Jupiter (0.35 orb.) The MC almost predicts her Jupiter placement. It's just a little weird, because my natal MC is tightly conjunct my first son's Jupiter, too.

Not sure which of these factors is most responsible for overcoming infertility, but I do think they are all positive "markers," and maybe the information has some useful value to it.

Wow Faith - that's great that you had your daughter! <3
You know a lot about the astrological factors! I don't think it's allowed to post my chart here - but if you ever had time or care to look at it from a fertility perspective - I'd be happy to return the favour with a reading - tarot cards or just free read

Thank you but I'm not especially qualified to give you a really solid prediction. I can look at the charts and tell you what I see, though! Maybe I will see positive indicators that you missed.

I tend to focus on the positive. *Power of Positive Thinking* Only problem is this can get in the way of my giving an accurate astrology forecast...so I can't ask for any favors in return for my opinions...I know my opinions may be skewed towards the positive.

With that caveat in mind: if you like, post your chart(s) in Personal Readings and I will check them out!

I love your screen name, btw.

A woman after my own heart - I love the positive perspective

That's really generous of you - I'll post my chart in the section you mentioned. I'm still new here and figuring out the ropes.

I have been thinking a lot about conception - an that reminded me of the Greek Goddess Ceres - like the earth and grain mother - and because we're working with moon phases - ceres moon just kind of rang true for the time being!

Great to know!

I can believe it. A co-worker had a baby on this last eclipse and they said the hospital was crazy with women in labor. LOL
