The Highwayman:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi94mMed6EQ

It's interesting to me how esoteric classic country (or at least the singers of it) could be with ghosts (like Mountain Angel, and though the link doesn't mention it, it does end with her as a ghost haunting the region), spectral visions (such as Riders in the Sky ), encounters with the devil (like The Devil Went Down to Georgia ), but as far as I know country has gotten a break for it from the same people who don't give other genres as pass.

ETA: I viewed this as "past lives connected to this life" rather than "between partners who share lives together." Still, it should be of interest to those who want to hear songs with themes of reincarnation.

For a more romantic one, here's Annie Lennox, Love Song For a Vampire:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6EBzUh5Yfc

In this version of Dracula, Mina was the reincarnation of Dracula's bride from when he was a mortal that he "crossed oceans of time" for to be with again. If you'd rather see the song set to the movie itself (keep in mind that this IS Dracula, it has gory moments) then listen to it here instead:

In any case, good for Halloween!

I found one made for the movie that has an emphasis on the connection between lives of Mina and as the one Dracula married centuries ago, and if there was any gore in this then I missed it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoH9x9P-r2E

Song goes pretty well, though probably not the intent:

quote:
Like a dream I had in subconscious deep
Here you come again only in my sleep
And I remember you
I remember you

Like a memory of a time gone by
Many things I've seen still I can't deny
That I remember you

quote:
I would recognize your shadow in a crowded room
Change your name a million times, it wouldn't change my mind
Or what I hope to find in your heart underneath
In a new rhythm I breathe 'cause I remember you

And the scene from the movie where Mina remembers:

Live
Forever May Not Be Long Enough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO-ndnA3s1c
From The Mummy Returns

It's a shame Anck Su Namun left Ihotep to die.Epecially after all the drama that happened in Ancient Egpyt and her resurrecting Imhotep
and him brining her original soul back from the underworld back into the present.I suppose I should look on the bright side she did feed some poor starving flesh eating scarab beetles when she fell into the pit so at least it isn't such waste after all.Poor old Anck Su Namun I hope they resurrect her again at some point LOL

I loved watching the rivalry and hatred between Anck Su Namun and Evie Ricks wife who was the reincarnated Princess Neferttiti.
Anck Su Namun cheated on the Pharoh Neferttiti's father with Ihmotep and they murdered the Pharoh then Imhotep was taken away and Anck Su Namun committed suicide.I love watching Anck Su Namun and Evie/Neferttit battle each other its really entertaining.

This is how Anck Su Namun and Imhotep's love started http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3XXKF0oDtU

This is it how it ended http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tLmqXEGnrc

This is the Duel between Anck Su Namun and Neferttit in Ancint Egpyt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8svNN8saeU

To me this is the ultimate past life soulmate song...
http://youtu.be/DZqFK4dcl2Q

Savage Garden "I knew I loved you"

Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant
And there it goes,
I think I found my best friend
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

There's just no rhyme or reason
Only the sense of completion
And in your eyes, I see
The missing pieces I'm searching for
I think I've found my way home
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I've found you

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

I meant to share about Cloud Atlas, a bit on it (with IMDB link) here:
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/004012.html

That one was long and brilliant, and I'm glad I resisted the temptation to stop and finish it later as I'm sure I'd have missed some parts. I'm betting the next time I watch it all the way through that I catch a lot more.

It includes, but is not focused on, romances that cross more than one life.

This isn't about a song, it's about a movie.

Don't know how relevant it is, but...I've had a vivid recollection of a past life. This didn't come from a hypnotist who made me remember, in fact at the time I didn't even believe in reincarnation and was instead trying to take care of something else metaphysical. It's a long story so all I'll say is put your expectations on hold, it's not what you're going to imagine.

Long story short, vivid memories overtook me so that I thought in a "male voice" and also in old form of French. I recalled being something of a "righteous pirate" for want of a better word in the days of the American Revolution, though we stayed more in the Caribbean as well as La Nouvelle-Orléans (New Orleans)...in my dying moments I'd come to realize how vain my life had been, and knew regret, and also compassion for everyone, even for those I'd hated while alive.

But the very worst was the two wives I had in different ports who didn't know about each other (well the one in New Orleans did, a "friend" of mine told her while having an affair and she somehow came to realize it was true, that "friend" would die with me then and is my father in this life, and that wife my mother, while my other wife was my BFF who died when I was 15), and both suffered terribly as a result of my never coming back...and they didn't know, just that we never came back. Given that it was not a world easy to survive with way too many ways for nature and man to kill you, and seemingly eager to do so, it was no surprise and why both had tried to get me to settle down.

And the reason I didn't settle down is because I loved both wives and couldn't choose one (I wonder if that's why I was born a Libra in this life, to push me to learn to choose) so I always invented reasons to keep at it, and feared when boys by both wives would be able to sail next to me and learn of my other family. In a way, I think I hoped to die so that I'd never have to choose, as I couldn't destroy either of them, my love was sincere for the both of them. But as a result, BOTH were destroyed. When it became clear me and mine weren't coming back, others preyed on them and took the treasures I left I'd left them to take care of things. One cursed me (who is my mother now) and the other was just a heartbroken tragic victim (as I'd be heartbroken when she was killed in this life).

In any case, this song (told from two perspectives) makes me think of the mistakes I made in that life as a pirate and forced a harsh life on two families, and how it has bled over into this one for some reason (it doesn't seem to have been such a big deal in lives between that one and this one for some reason):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euuxPokAeIA

The last time I saw Mom it was on friendly terms...it's something, even if it was mostly because I beat up her hated sister (another long story, and I come from a violent family, she attacked me, btw, I just finished it, and btw one of her sons told me I'm now his favorite cousin for having beat up his mom! ), and because of that (or actually what inspired her to attack me, not the fight itself which wasn't seen as a big deal in of itself) I was having to cut my time there short and leave.

But as Mom came out of her trailer as we (my BFF today and myself) came down the long dirt driveway, we stopped and I used the moment to say sorry things got messed up, we all make our mistakes but should try to rise above them rather than stay mired in them. Then in a deeper voice trying to sound like that pirate from another life I added, "And I'd say that even if I were a French pirate named Jacques, ma Cherie." Then I nodded in the firm way Jacques did and waved saying "Adieu" (as in that was the "last word Jacques had on it, goodbye, and he commends you to God/dess") as I got back into the car.

Perhaps Mom was just baffled but she looked downright unsettled to me. Maybe that's because she thought my behavior was very strange, or maybe I struck something deep within that Scorpio. I heard she got really drunk later, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
