So, I have a 3rd house Gemini Mercury squaring my Pisces ASC (3º)

I always wondered how a person with a Gemini stellium could have such issues talking to people! I'm always nervous and I get misunderstood.

Anyone else with this? Please tell me about your experiences :-))

Cafeastrology's description was a shocker:

"Without intending to, you often express yourself in such a way that people misunderstand your meaning or are offended. You may use flattery to win people over, but they can usually detect your insincerity if you choose that route! As your own worst critic, you may continually compare your accomplishments to those of your peers.

You must learn to relax and be yourself when you meet new friends and lovers. You project so much nervous energy that this is sometimes all a person sees when they meet you. You send out body language that at times directly conflicts with your verbal message. Ask your partner to pay more attention to your words until you improve your communication skills to bring your verbal and nonverbal messages into agreement. Avoid talking about your problems with your partner to just anyone. This could cause serious damage to your relationship, even if you mean no harm"

I have Mercury at 18 Gem in the 10th and my Asc is at 15 Virgo. I have seen APPALLING interpretations of this aspect, lol. We're suppose to be all liars and frauds and cheats.

I can relate to that description that you posted. I do get misunderstood often--mainly my intentions. I do definitely project way too much nervous energy, and I try to work on that (but it's hard given that I've lived with an anxiety disorder for most of my life!). I don't flatter people, my Aqua mars won't let me. I tend to be a little too honest instead, so yeah, I offend people or just make them uneasy. Making friends for me is hard.

It's rather ironic for Gemini like myself to experience so much anxiety and blockage when communicating, but life is not fair. I did not get to grow up in an environment where my self-expression or personhood was encouraged, appreciated or respected. I was expected to stay out of the way and not be a problem. I was often ridiculed, criticized or mocked for any self-expression at all. So I become extremely introverted very young. When I was younger I was quiet a lot, almost to the point of having selective mutism.

I had, and still have, a hard time in "unstructured" social settings, where people just chat and talk about whatever. If there's a point or agenda to the social gathering, like school, work, rehearsal, etc, I can do OK. But if it's just for socializing, like a party, I'm totally lost and have a lot of difficulty asserting myself in the mix and there's so many social cues going on, I just get overwhelmed. I do better in small social groups or one-on-one.

I started channeling my need to communicate into music and writing early on and even that my parents tried to crush. They thought it wasn't practical (and on a deeper level, thought it wasn't something I deserved to have, because it made me happy), so I had to really fight to pursue my creative ambitions. I ended up having a severe mental breakdown before my 23rd birthday and have struggle with serious mental illness (depression, PTSD) ever since. Like I said, life isn't fair.

Music and writing are still very important to me, but so much damage caused by years of mental illness sometimes make it a struggle to pursue even the things that let me communicate and be happy.

This is probably way too much information, but in typical Merc sq Asc fashion, I tend to overshare.

Honestly.. As much as Mercury Gemini/Gemini people are supposed to be the 'talkers' sometimes I feel that they have an easier time writing than talking. Maybe that is because I have a very minor aspect between Mercury and Uranus.

Then again.. Sometimes I feel that people with Gemini Mercury think so quickly they have a hard time gathering their thoughts into something that they can put into words when talking with people. Writing makes it easier, because it slows down the process a bit and gives the person somewhere to PUT the thoughts as they go by, rather than just having them drift away. Not to say that I am exactly the quickest thinker at all times.. lol.. But, sometimes, I do have a hard time conversing with people, because my thoughts are all over the place. Then again, I do have Mercury very loosely square Saturn.

What else is your Mercury aspecting?

(EDIT: Thought I should add.. My Mercury isn't squaring my Ascendant. However, it does Trine my ascendant somewhat loosely..)

Also.. I feel Pisces also has a problem with putting their thoughts into words at times.. Or, sometimes has a hard time conversing with people. Same could go for Scorpio/8th house placements too though.. In the right circumstances.

Actually.. Reading this made me think a bit of someone I used to talk to in school.

It just so happens, she has Mercury square her Ascendant too. It wasn't that I ever had a terribly hard time talking to Her, but, as that description says.. It often seemed there was a lot of nervous energy. (even if that wasn't really the case.. ) I usually really enjoyed our conversations though. Although, she was so sarcastic sometimes I had a hard time knowing whether she was serious or not.. Hahahaha.. I don't think that probably has anything to do with the Mercury square Ascendant though. (She does have a pretty strong Gemini, though.)

I also like scullcap/skullcap personally. Skullcap is a good anytime herb. Kava Kava tends to knock me out, pretty strongly. (depending on how much of it I take.. LMAO.. However, if I take a smaller amount, Kava Kava IS pretty good for anxiety, without making me sleepy.. The thing is, with Kava Kava, you have to get GOOD quality Kava Kava in order for it to REALLY work. Luckily, back when I used Kava Kava, I was getting a pretty high quality of it.. At least, from what I am aware. I had a pretty reliable source.)

I have the square and Mercury in Gemini. I am very very agile. When in conversation it's hard for me to not move any limb, foot, eyebrow or the like. Fidgeting with my hands all the time. I have never heard anyone say they feel my nervous energy but I think it might be only obvious.
My biggest problem and pain throughout my life from that square is that it seems I was invisible in conversations. Maybe I was talking in such a tone that it sounded boring, making people loose their focus and then, all of a sudden they start listening to someone else or another person just bombards all of their words over my conversation. Leaving me hurt and confused. It made me very insecure in conversations. It stems from childhood. Where my dad was leading the talks and his sentences never stopped (mercury conjunct sun). Throw my sister in the mix and we're complete. Spicy conversations I was not able to get through, there was never a pause moment where I could have my turn. Then when THEY GAVE me my turn all eyes were on me but with a Gem Mercury I had already forgotten about that thought a long time ago. I sat there lost for words it was so frustrating!! And of course leaving them saying:" ah, it probably wasn't important.: Or something along those lines. I have learned this is about setting boundaries and it's about feeling worthy. I don't have it any longer and when someone enters my space and wants to steal the talking stick I I assertively tell them "I was talking"
It also helps that I have learned to be an instructor in front of a class. It's nice to play with tone of voice to hold people's interest.

I also have -the being misunderstood. I don't know how many times I experience this. Luckily it's not with all people but yep, that's also very frustrating! You mean well and say something that people take completely different and they start to attack you Haha, I don't feel pity for myself. This is the fun thing, when you know about astrology you can work with it.

Like Readingthestars said, writing was always my thing. I always rather write than talk in person. And this is only because of the reason Readingthestars mentioned, it's much more chill for my thoughts to organise them because sometimes it's as if my thoughts go with the speed of light
