Sun is at 28 deg, what do you mean? Is is Longitude, Declination, what? I've been doing this how long and I cannot believe I don't know that.

No, on the box that comes up on astro.com when you click the tables thing. Which one of those numbers gives the degree? Is it the Longitude or Declination, please?

It's the projection of the astronomical bodies on the ecliptical plan. You basically compress a sphere into a circle, like this:

I don't think there is a quick way of converting the latitude to the zodiac position. For instance:
