Example: I was born when Moon 12CAP08 was in separating square to Uranus 5LIB32. It represents a waning, thus decreasing influence that is effectively gone from my personality and life now at age 45 (and was by age 40). (This is due to the direction of my development, not due to any timing hinged to Moon or Uranus).

Applying aspects, particularly by planets in perpetual direct motion in progression, will create a stronger effect at exactly the same orbs. So for example, if my Moon/Cap had been in applying square to Uranus/Libra with the same orb (6-1/2*), the effect would have been stronger and probably continuing in terms of my personality/domesticity even today.

This is because the applying aspect is waxing, that is gaining.

The separating aspect is waning, that is decreasing.

How close/wide an aspect is that Moon trine Uranus? If it's a wide orb while the other aspects are tight, you're not going to feel it very much, regardless of whether it is separating or applying.
