Hi Visions,

I have been having this transit since March 2014. Well, much will depend on other transits that will accompany it. My Neptune is in the 4th house as well, but doesn’t conjunct IC. Neptune has been squaring my MC from the 6th house. To be honest, most of the time this transit was active, I was unemployed but there were other factors as well, which made my professional life exceptionally hard. And my general life situation was very unstable and elusive as well. It was difficult to predict in which country I will be, where I will live, etc…I tried hard but I couldn’t do much about the external circumstances so I was doing my best and then waited for the situation to improve.

Before this transit started I had already been looking for a job and obviously this transit didn’t help much. But I also was having other nasty transits at that time, career-wise, such as Chiron square MC and Moon, then Chiron opposite Sun and Ascendant, Pluto opposite NN in the 10th house…

Actually, this transit is still active and I now experience its last hit. But I recently started having some new, positive transits, such as Jupiter conjunct Sun/Ascendant. I have a new job now since the beginning of October! Not everything is going as expected, but the situation is much, much better now. So yes, if you have some other positive transits in the same time, then the situation shouldn’t be that bad

thank you very much gemmi !

it seems that it has a lot to deal with unemployment and career.

i had also same experience wandering and unemployment since neptune transit my 6th house.

but you didn't say nothing about public image which is Midheaven stuff also...so with neptune you can wait gossip, betrayal, over expectation about job offer or promise in career that will be not followed...i dread this transit because people can talk on your back and attack you reputation but i will have neptune sextile my natal moon at the same time so maybe some protection but my IC neptune is so afflicted that i have to stay realistic to the point that every single good news must be immediatly brought back to reality and not put any single hope on people.

Hi!

I have MC 10 Gemini. When Neptune was 9 dgrs back in March/April this year I was chosen out of many people for the job as a school counsellor/advisor. This is actually one of the best job one can think of in my view. A lot of conversations with young people who find trouble in choosing, or trouble at home or school. Or they have serious disorders, anything. This job has a lot of variety. I have worked at the same school since 2000 and I finally have a DREAM JOB! I invested my time and money in a coach/therapist study the past 4 years. This is mainly why I got the job. It can mean that in april next year, when Neptune is 10 dgrs, and the square is exact that I will doubt if I will still do this job because I am really a therapist now and that's what I have to do, I know it's my calling (north node Pisces). It might mean I will start my own practise on the side or something else, I don't know that yet.
It is going very well and I believe everyone is very satisfied with my work. Of course it can change. I am also a breathe of fresh air because I am the joker.

If people would gossip about me I really wouldn't care. It's their words, says nothing about me. If it so happens and it means I will loose my job it is just how it's meant to be. I am so not worried about that. I am almost 100% sure that will not happen! I think it will only get better because I feel i have the power to create my own destiny.

I think the squares always get a bad rap but in fact what I have seen it's frequently action and events. Squares are good!

To be honest, I don’t think I experienced any serious damage to my public reputation during this transit. Well, people knew that I was unemployed so that was not great and had an influence on my social life. But I think that tr Chiron square MC, which I had before, was far more damaging. Also, people might have the impression that my life was very unstable. I used to live in one country, couldn’t find a job there, so moved back to my home country and lived with my parents for some months, and then got the job in the first country and came back…my social life was very limited, everything was very elusive and during all this time I thought that my life was going nowhere….But as I mentioned, I had a LOT of bad transit going on and only recently some more positive transits began, and so the situation improved.

Hi, I'm new First post but I want to share my square.

I was lost in my direction and feeling out of place in my home community, in my work, but at the same time I had feelings as if I was starting something new. And different! I started to act in some plays in my local community theatre group, my MC is Taurus. But sad very sad sometimes with the family. Direction with my family was lost and no good.

No, they don’t. But it’s true that some transits coincide with painful passages. And then, everything depends on how you approach the problem and what you learn from the experience.

In my case, during the unemployment I was doing some voluntary work and had an internship. I’m a little bit old for this kinds of things and I had a regular job before, but it was better than doing nothing and thanks to that I don’t have a big gap in my CV… And yes I learnt a lot about people, myself, my true values, etc.

I think one has to do as much as possible to minimize the damage of a difficult period and know that it will eventually pass

i think you are all very optimistic...maybe the blurring effect of neptune or is it me who is pessimistic? with saturn conjunct ascendant i will say i have pessimistic view.

is it good for you to manage your life without any gap in your cv gemmi but i think you forget à lot of bad events in life who could affect you and exile you from society whatever you do or whatever your good intention and drive...like depression, burnout etc...when the mind want to go on but the body refuse because of traumatism, hardships and accident.

but yeah, society call you loser easily or outcast or anything more violent despising you often for reason that lead you in this turnmoil because you have been exploited, a lot of people cannot say "no" to boss and they don't have the choice to change because of fear because they have to feed their son because of home etc...so they work until they burn then they are out for years i have seen cases in my own family. a cousin who finish with 2 heart disease and heavy chirurgy then at work again then backbone problem then immobilized again for 1 year etc..

Visions, I don’t think that I’m overly optimistic. It’s not the first and probably not the last time that I am going through a difficult period. But there is no other option than to confront it, and see what you can learn from it.

Sometimes some things just happen that are completely independent of how much we try, work, care, etc. But despairing and putting your life on hold during these periods is the worst thing that you can do, that’s my opinion.

I could have indeed ended up with depression, but I think I am immune to it since Pluto transited my 4th house . It made several difficult aspects from the 4th house to my Moon, MC, ASC and Sun. After that passage, I deal quite well with depression-prone periods….

It really mattered to me that I was somehow professionally active, even if I only did some voluntary work and internship. Maybe because my Moon is conjunct my MC, so work life is very important for me? Also, internship let me gain new skills that might be useful at some point, you never know… It was not at all what I had expected, also because I used to be very successful in my career before, but it was much better than doing nothing.

hello !!

so as this transit is beginning i have great rates on my exam but this willd me nowhere i guess...even i have the luck to do a phd icannot do it since my income are unstable and i can't tell i will not quit during the phd which is very very disqualifying in france. SO better to do not start anything until you know you can do a phd until the end...

So as i have a bad neptune in oppistion to midheaven in natal i think its going to be rough...but neptune do a sextile to my natal 9th taurus moon also so i don't know...

i wnat to know how do you feel after this transit gemmi ?

and also to sylven, you must have good natal aspect to neptune to have so much luck with a neptune transit square to MC...but neptune rules health field so maybe therapist worked good and i am just finishing my master's degree in psychonalysis so...

i am so disappointed my life has been too much a mess except maybe my studies which is the only thing in my life that can make my life worth sth...

Remember anything square the MC is also square the IC... very important to consider this aspect of the square. It means Neptune is at the natural midpoint of the MC/IC. Squares to angles and nodes carry extra meaning and have the focus of Intergration within the whole chart. They are demanding attention because of the potential for integration of the axis holistically... Neptune is interfacing with your life path... your kundalini axis... the spine of your life.

Backbone problem, visions, could be directly related to your MC/IC and aspects to it. I personally think of the MC/IC as relating to the spine. I actually wrote my last post before reading about your backbone issue.

from my perspective.. you're looking to straighten it out. Dissolve tension there. Neptune is dissolving and also revealing underlying realities. You need to work with the energy of unconditional love to help heal your backbone. It may not seem related but this transit indicates it very well could be.

Hi Visions,

First of all, if tr Neptune is squaring your MC now, it means that tr Saturn is opposing it in the same time. This is actually a good news as Saturn should help you see things much more clearly and refine your goals. It might probably feel a bit frustrating as you could observe your ideals (Neptune) clashing with harsh reality (Saturn) but it should help you to think things through and prepare a realistic plan of action.
This is probably why you are having these doubts about pursuing a PhD. And believe me, from what I can see myself, doing a PhD is no longer what it used to be and many PhD holders are struggling with finding any job because they cannot stay at university (limited tenure track positions) but are overqualified to work outside of academia and are automatically rejected anywhere they apply… This is something that everybody envisaging doing a PhD should really take into consideration…

The outcome of this transit was finally pretty disappointing. As I wrote before, I was struggling with everything related to my career during that time and went through a period of unemployment. I had a precise goal in my head related to both my career path and residence/location but I also explored and tried out many other options, less desirable. I tried everything but all my efforts were fruitless and nothing seemed to work out….

Well, what happened is that towards the end I kind of got what I wanted but quickly discovered that my cherished goals which I pursued against all the odds during that time were in fact not that good for me… The problem is, I can fully understand why I wanted to pursue these goals, and they were not irrational nor impractical. I am quite a sensible person. The problem is that a lot of facts were hidden from me during that time, I didn’t know the reality of the situation and only hard Saturn transits which took place at the end of tr Neptune sq MC brought me down-to earth and helped me realize that my goals were no longer relevant…
This is because transiting Neptune likes to hide things and the truth, it creates confusion and is especially dangerous if you are already in Neptunian situation … Whereas transiting Saturn directly confronts you with the truth, shows you the reality as it really is (often painful after Neptune’s passage). The problem is that you might never find out until the transit is over…

I hope this transit won’t affect you much, or not in any bad way. Actually, if you are doing psychotherapy it is possible that the Neptune’s energies will be somehow channeled in this direction. Positive transit, sextile, to your Moon might also be helpful. Neptune was and is still squaring my Moon in the 10th house, so it might make things much more difficult for me...

I think that there are two factors that will determine how this transit might pan out:

- your situation before this transit starts:

If it’s stable, hang on to it and don’t make any drastic changes. This was actually my cousin’s situation: he had quite a stable life, no other dangerous transits, and as far as I know tr Neptune sq MC didn’t affect him much….so it doesn’t have to be bad….

- other transits happening in the same time:

Now, the transits that you should absolutely hope to get are Saturn transits, I would risk saying hard transits and preferably conjunctions. Easy Saturn transits, ex. sextile might be less helpful

Pay attention if you will have one of these optimistic, “I am awesome” and “there are no limits” transits (ex. hard Jupiter or Uranus transits). People are much more prone to take foolish risks if they have one of these transits and consequences might be horrible with Neptune square MC transit …

The problem is even more complicated if you have many other difficult transits in the same time. This was actually my case (ex. Chiron opp Sun, Neptune sq Moon in the 10th house, Pluto opp/Uranus sq NN in the 10th house, Pluto sq/ Uranus opp Mercury...). It might be more difficult to prepare a realistic plan to put things back on track because things might not work out anyway, regardless of whether your goals are practical or not…

Finally, as yungang_grotto noted this transit might also affect your IC, which means your home, dwelling place etc. Well, I moved countries 3 times during this transit and moved homes 3 times within one country only to realize at the end that I have nowhere to go back to and there is no place I can really call home….. Which is very telling…

Please don’t quote

thank you gemmi !

why don't you want us to quote you ?

i understand that a phd can lead nowhere,i see those ones working in awful job at the end for some of them unfortunately.

I can figure in life that having a practical approach of life, career view from the moneyside of it but i am not seeing life like this. As i am doing psychoanalisis i am more sensitive to what freud call " the family novel". So the better thing in life for me is to run out the "family novel" mobid repeating what ancestors did etc...Because the question what is the people, your kids will remind of you ? making money and have house you let all thing on this earth when you leave, if you live a life to be another employee, or manager in any field doesn't make you different...But when you hit somethng like a phd, you reach some elittist intellectual place that can't be denied or taken back, you can die...your name and phd remain maybe in some book, your descendants will recall, because of theory you create, your name are spreading outside your own little history to me that make sense.

It's weird because i have progressed moon sextile my midheaven yet...but the saturne transiting my MC in opposition to my MC with the neptune square MC transit and natally i have saturn square MC definitively create hindrance to whatever i would like to do for me...

I can understand where you are coming from saying that a PhD represents a more lasting and fulfilling success. The only problem is you cannot eat prestige… There are serious problems with higher education and doctoral degrees and the fact that people outside of the academia absolutely do not want to hire PhD holders doesn’t make things easier… I wouldn’t dissuade people from pursuing a PhD but I would recommend developing a back-up plan or alternate career paths in the meantime.

My situation was already fragile when tr Chiron square my MC, when everything I had built collapsed: nobody invited me to interviews, many of my friends stopped contacting me because they were used to the fact that I was pretty successful and not unemployed, a loved one also turned his back.
At that time I had Chiron transiting my 6th house, squaring my MC and Moon, and some other nasty transits. It was painful but as transiting Neptune later joined Chiron, my situation didn’t improve… Actually, to some extend I am still struggling.

then saying your friends and boyfriend turning back say how reality is harsh...but it tells a lot about what it means to be successfull, unemeployemnt is looked like failure and all high rank social status are greatly appreciated yet i dont think we can judge someone by his rank but in my country it's the social rank that prevails. But i will hardly trust someone you met in your social circle around job because they fade up really quickly when you are retired or fire...but sometimes you can make real contact with some coworker that remains.

i think we cannot bypass also the fact that our goals can change as we aging...

so what you look for at 20 it's not what you will look for at 30.

btw it will not spare me from that transit...

i am really thinking to do byzantine theology studies for spiritual fulfilment as it's really awesome spiritual philosophy there. i love russian philosophy. And neptune is about spiritual things also but i dread to be deluded in the end. But doing sth is better than doing nothing.

visions,

Good News - the transit of Neptune square MC is already well over for you.

I took the time to dig into your past posts for clues that would allow me to reverse engineer your chart and discovered a past post containing your chart with data. This allowed me to make the determination that the rounded birth time you've been using creates an inaccurate chart. If indeed you are Virgo rising then your Asc is at 6°.

Assuming this, it means that the transit of Neptune square your MC was in the period of 2009-14, peaking in 2012. This roughly correlates to the period of 2009-11 in which you stated in previous post of 4 February 2011, "last 2 years was terrible for me, i have been harmed emotionnally, physically drained and exhausted, nostalgic, depressed, etc..."

However, it also means the peak of Neptune's transit opposite your Asc would have taken place from early 2013 to early this year. Because Neptune is currently Retrograde and will move back into opposition to your Asc (6 Virgo), you've got a bit longer to go. Neptune in transit opposite a natal Asc closely conjunct Saturn can mean prolonged psychological stress can affect the spinal nerves, possibly the column's structure itself through strong tensions.

Make sure you are getting good supplementation from sources of calcium phosphate of the hydroxyappetite variety, which is the most absorbable type of calcium. Look into applying liquid Kava (alcohol) extract (or similar anti-spasmodic herbs) to your spinal column if you are having tensions and pain there.

Instead of Neptune playing the strongest role related to your material circumstances, you've had Saturn in transit square your Asc the last couple years plus Pluto in transit around your IC, which means opposite your MC. That combination of Saturn and Pluto in stressful aspects is a typical combination of challenges to material resources and support.

A good thing is -- if you can take advantage of the opportunity and some unexpected changes -- Uranus [8N45] has begun its transit parallel your natal Asc [9N18]. This can open things up to get a new start, but not without some shakeups. But considering that as Uranus continues into late Aries, and will square your natal Jupiter, you've got the change for a bolt from the blue to help with possibly some unexpected funding or similar aid. At very least you can get away from stressful circumstances and feel freer for a while.

Good luck.

thank you Mc Kannon. didn't know my true ascendant was so far from my natal ascendant from my birth data...

you leave me speechless since i have spasm since 2 years now probably from stress...
and i have put a lot of effort into my master degrees to get a high qualification "very good" and open the door to the phd with a money contract along this but when i asked for the contract, it was too late...

so i am really trapped for now...don't know how to do.

visions, be encouraged. Your chart has Jupiter [21N01] parallel & sextile MC in Gemini, an excellent help for higher education, and for opportunities and open doors to a career in communication, writing, delivering thought/philosophy.

It is your Asc conjunct Saturn that will often be the challenge: narrow vision, focusing too much on the problem. Make sure you practice envisioning the result you want. Tell the universe that. Don't worry about how it comes about.

Venus square MC also allows benefits from social graces to open doors for you. With both Jupiter and Venus in aspect to your MC, this overcomes the challenges or obstacles of Saturn/Asc - especially since as an Aries you are an action-oriented person.

Any transits to the MC,filters the Ic & changes to the Ic impact the Asc. Thus changes to the Asc will affect the Dsc.

Typically this is an event that impacts all the 4 angles of a chart. Maybe a death circumstance? A birth? A relocation? An illness? Etc.

If for example its an illness, the change in the family dynamics will have to be made(Ic/Mc). If the native is going through the transit and perhaps it is one parent who is ill, the other one has to be the bread winner.

Once the other one is the bread winner, they'll spend more time at work or in other ventures trying to supplement the lack of two incomes (Mc/Ic). So there will be an absence (Nep) in the parental authority from both the Father(Mc/Ic) and Mother.

The impact this will have will make the native feel lost(Asc/Dsc) or have a sense of being "overwhelmed" (Nep square) by the increased responsibility of having to care for their siblings.

The relationship they have with others( social life) as well as with their own parents & siblings will change. They will no longer be available to hang out as much with their friends(Neptune square Dsc/Asc) thus feeling alienated from them.

They will also be seen as the "partner" by their parents & share responsibility. Whilst their siblings will distance themselves from them because of the dynamic of them being the "secondary parent". They will have to institute boundaries and discipline to their siblings so increased emotional distance will be necessary(Nep- Asc/Dsc)

Typically, the overall effect of Nep trans will have the native feel like they are "drowning" in demands/ duties & responsibilities. Thereby there will be themes of wanting to "escape" or be "free" from such draining demands a lot. They'll feel like zombies because of so much expected from them etc.

If you watch "What's eating Gilbert Grape" (one of Johnny Depp's oldest and really good films),it describes the Neptune transit to the angles. In his case however,I suspect its natal and not a transit.

He has a Mom who is obese and thus needs his care. He becomes the reluctant "head" of the house because there is no Father(Nep on Mc/Ic). His father committed suicide 17 years ealier and his mother has been "stuck" in grief since.(Neptune rules suicides and grief).

He has an ambiguous relationship with his mentally challenged younger brother- feeling resentment for him on one hand, as well as protectiveness(Asc/Dsc Nep square) on the other . This because he is the only one who can take care of him.

He dreams of escaping with the girl he likes. He actually likes her because she represents "freedom" to him(I suspect she hypothetically has Ura on her angles or Ura on his Sun/Moon or angles)

Finally, all this comes to a head and the mother dies. The siblings decide to preserve their obese mother's dignity by burning the home instead of attracting attention from the town's people by removing the body via a tractor etc.

For me,its their burning of the home(which I link to a hypothetical Mars transit going through Gilbert's MC/Ic axis or Moon) that is symbolic of a "New Beginning" and closing off of the old burdensome past for all the children.

Gilbert is(additionally) set "free" from his Mom and what she represented. The siblings also venture out into their own lives and Gilbert and his younger brother leave the town with his love interest from earlier(Ura).
