Well I have this question about Chinese astrology. I want to calculate my hour pillar, but my birthdate is 23:00 exactly, so I don't know if my hour pillar sign should be:
21:00-23:00 - the pig or
23:00-1:00 - the rat
Help, please?

It's splitting hairs but I'd go with the rat.
The way I'd personally look at it is:

21:00 - 22:59 = pig
23:00 - 12:59 = rat

Oh OK. I had a hope that I was the pig. I don't feel very much like the rat.

However somewhere I read that an animal was given for the hour and a different one for the minute, in my case being the pig (hour) and the rat (minute).

I'd be a mixture of the two, which makes sense (being born at the exact hour).

a bit of both perhaps as far as those you may get along with based on hour.
I have Sun(sep7) hours from Rooster for the monthly cycle and I attract via both(monkey and rooster) energies.
Which hour sign is more compat with your day or which hours feel luckier to you?
answer yourself that after self-exam and reflection.

I see Seimei, then I might have both of the energies in me . I don't have experience with Rats, but I've met some Pigs and we usually get on well.

Yeah I'd honestly say an influence of both. I just thought rat if you must say one or the other.

If they recorded your birth with a 30 sec delay, you'd be a Pig (as far Chinese Astrology is concerned).

So, if you feel like Pig suits you more, then I'd stick to that!

Birth times are seldom 100% accurate for the exact time the baby draws its first breath.

Maybe not just that sign, but those sextile and trine to each. Not all signs side by side have for each other like the affinity that rat has for ox as well , so no affinity with Ox, then Pig it is.

In the first page, I see apart from the four pillars there are 8 eight squares below. Are they relevant? How do you interpret them?

I'm not sure to be honest. I think it may be regional. Like eastern/western or northern/southern.
But that's just a guess.

The top row matches what you'll find on other sites.
