Hi everyone

What planets indicate paying excessive attention to outward presentation? I am quite vain - it is because of planets like sun in 1st house, Libra moon, Aries venus/Pisces rising etc?

I'd also say Leo/Aries/Libra planets are generally the biggest 'show offs'. Anyone else agree? Fire signs like to draw attention to themselves the most.

Aries, Libra, Virgo, and Pisces pay the most attention to their appearance, from what I've seen.

Also Snakes.

My best friend is a Pisces/Snake, always dressed up with makeup and accessories.

Honestly I think she does it out of consideration for others as much as anything...she is "easy on the eyes"...because it's refreshing for others, to see beauty.

ETA: Come to think of it I have several Snake friends and they are all meticulous with their appearance.

Classic 1st House. However, I am really vain too and that is classic for the Libra ASC

I think Pisces on its own would not result in vanity - it would have to be mixed with venus influence (or fire signs perhaps). Libra ascendant has a lovely outer 'shell' - but as always we need to check the rest of the chart to see how deep the 'lovely' surface mask really goes.

I have observed Pisces with Aquarius results in an 'alternative' appearance i.e tattoos /grunge look etc.Libra and Leo moon are vain - two of the most charismatic moon placements.

Maybe Pisces indeed. I care for my appearance, but not in an obssessive or arrogant way. I just like to dress well and take care of my skin.

I wonder about Sun/Jupiter conjunct because it can give a love of luxury and even in clothes...I like shiny, silky, elegant stuff

Gemini has a thing for earrings, necklaces and bracelets. LOL. From my own experience, my cousin and other gemini friends.

Meh, I said nothing about vanity.

I said, care of appearance.

I think it's not necessarily vain to care for one's appearance. Beauty is meaningful. Your presentation of yourself can be art. And some say, art is the domain of Neptune.

Thanks for the welcome! Isn't Pisces supposed to be the 'bohemian hippy' sign - i.e not caring so much about appearance etc? However it gets confusing with Pisces planets as Venus is the higher octave of neptune in the sign so it may be they at the very least appreciate beauty and art.

Virgo is a great sign for "attention to outer presentation". I'm a Virgo ASC and as long as I can remember, I've always been hypersensitive to fabrics, patterns, color schemes, tailoring, and the juxtaposition of complementary cuts.

Virgo's in the fashion world is a major astrological trope!

Virgo is often present in the charts of many designers - defiantly correct! However the best combo for design is Virgo/Libra - this gives an excellent aesthetic sense. Pisces will also be in there somewhere

I have pisces sun (with mars, neptune, uranus aspects) and leo rising with (scorpio aspects).

One thing I would say about me is that I like to have my own style. If everyone is wearing it, it doesn't interest me. I am not always the most done up, intact, I rarely wear makeup... But only because, in my perception, I can see the makeup and then more clearly see the "flaws" i'm trying to cover. Ie, i don't wear it because I don't care, but because I'm not convinced it makes me look any better.

I find that in women, Virgo influence in rising, or moon will give the desire fir a meticulously perfect appearance.
In both men and women i find that Libra rising and also libra moon and to a lesser extent venus in libra will give desire for an aesthetically pleasant appearance.

I agree with a lot of what has been said.

This Neptune transit has sort of caused my Virgo Moon (and even my Leo Asc) to give up for the time being, and let Neptune transit over my Sun and be like "meh...I'm natural."

But, under normal circumstances, my physical appearance needs to be exactly the way that I like it to be. Hair done (to the best of my ability), clean clothes that are reasonably stylish and flattering, and if I have my way, some unique jewelry and enough makeup to be flattering (I used to wear a lot more makeup and jewelry, but these things become less flattering after a while, imo).
Edit: I realize that I just used the word "flattering" like five times, but I'm too lazy to dig for another adjective.

Also, before company arrives, my Virgo grandma taught me well that you CLEAN THE ENTIRE HOUSE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM! Get the scrubbers, mops, vacuum, and dust cloth! My husband rolls his eyes and mutters, but it's a matter of pride, and...how else would the house ever get clean?

I am Pisces sun and Aries Venus, but I like to have the most natural and confort look possible

Maybe my Sag Asc and Moon in Gemini prevent me to pay too much attention to my outer presentation.

Ahahaha. I am married to a Sag Asc (Leo Sun, even), and have many Sag Asc friends. It's true, they simply don't care about looking conventionally tidy or anything of the sort. They wear what they want to wear, and look how they want to look. The only exception is my Libra Sun best friend, who also has a Libra stellium (basically everything in Libra, or Scorpio). She is pretty meticulous about her appearance, but all other Sag Asc people I know prefer to be natural, and above all comfortable.

Are you the one who told me we have all the same placements?! Because I have Pisces sun, Virgo moon, Leo ascendant, and Aries Venus too!

It depends on the reasons for it as well.

If it wasn't for health/fitness considerations, or because I'm aware that statistically, I'm much more likely to get ahead in life in general - if I look my best - then, I probably wouldn't bother.

I don't know if I would call this being 'vain', or just being practical

Also, I definitely don't feel like the attention I pay is "excessive". I think it's completely necessary. I mean.. maybe if I was male it would be excessive.
But for a woman in this society - it is necessary.

As for the astrology, it's all my Capricorn talking!

Yeah, that too. If I'm at home doing nothing, it's yoga pants (I don't do yoga, for the record) and a hoodie, with crazy hair. So don't knock on my door unannounced.

Venus aspects to the asc.

I have the conjunction. In capricorn, and conjunct saturn. Pampering myself puts me in a good mood.

I wake up like this. So preening is not just enjoyable, it's kinda necessary too. Although sometimes I like that wild look.

Sagittarius ascendant on women seem to be women who want the laid back look...defiantly no patience for fussing about with complicated beauty routines (in the words of my sag rising mum). Only exception is if the sag rising person has points in Libra,Taurus, Pisces or venus contacts.

I can be quite vain, but I don't have the time and energy to always have my hair and make up done and styled.

It's a lot of fun, and a confidence boost! But then some days are just, "ain't nobody got time for that!"

Plus my hair is so long now. So it's clean, and I spent an hour brushing out all the tangles, what more do you want?

When school gets demanding hair and make up go out the window.

I use to do new make up looks religiously, I'm way more into hairstyles now. I feel like I only do make up a few times a week.
I usually have a hair style most of the week. Until school gets demanding.

I plan my outfits a week in advance. I will get compliments and comments. I do make a statement, I guess you can say.

I work at a school, so I will at times dress like a square. Tomorrow I'm wearing slacks, with a blouse and a sweater vest over it.

I've started dressing more feminine a few years ago. To the point where people are like "hey, you are wearing pants!" Part of it is, dresses and skirts are way more forgiving when you lose and gain weight. I've had some of the same skirts since high school. I haven't worn dresses and skirts so much since I was a little girl.

I was born in the chinese hour of the wood snake. The say snakes have good skin. I must say, I'm pretty blessed. I am not hairy on my arms and legs. My skin feels like a baby. Also, I'm not too bothered that I don't wear make up everyday. The people who matter don't mind. Plus knowing in the long run makeup is not good for skin. When it comes to skincare, I go for the natural stuff. I currently use organic face wash. Sometimes I do flower water, or which hazel. I made my own face serum. (aloe, rose hip oil, vegetable glycerin, and jasmine water)

I sometimes joke and say, I'm so vain that I don't do my make up and hair everyday cause it's damaging, and I'd rather get my beauty sleep.

I'm an Aries sun. Sometimes I'll take a risk with fashion hair and make up. (red lip stick, a fancy hat, finding a piece of clothing and saying "I can make this work!"
Venus Pisces, helps me get in touch with my feminine side at times. The dresses, skirts, my love fore lace clothing.
Leo IC, need I say more, um yeah I like the attention I get from my looks.

I have Aries Venus and I'm the same way. I love getting decked out. I love being the best dressed. I love having flawless makeup.

The underside of that is I have Venus square Saturn. If I'm not the things above everyday then I feel crappy and so low.

I also have Venus square Neptune, but maybe in this instance that can be a positive? I've been told I don't look anything like my pictures because sometimes I'll do really bold and heavy makeup, and other times not.
