Sun at ascendant in natal says, I am who I say I am.The personality and the will are together. I don't know if that is all Leo but it makes SUN sense as the Sun is at home in Leo. There is a great vitality and presence in the placement. Of course aspects matter.
Chart of Ross Perot is a fair example.

I have Sun and Venus in the 1st but my Sun sign and Asc are not the same. Sun / Venus in Sag and Asc in Scorpio. I have been mistaken for a Leo quite often but I'm not sure if this is the reason. I'm not one of those Scorp. Asc with Leo midheaven either so it's odd, I only have Jupiter in Leo (mutual exchange with sun in Sag).

I have Sun in first, and I think I come across quite forceful but I also feel very self-conscious. I tend to make an impression on people I suppose. I am a good leader but sometimes a little proud and overbearing.

No.

My mom has a 1st house Virgo sun with Virgo rising. She acts Virgo xD. It gives more of a "I do my thing vibe to the person" but I wouldn't say the person acts Leo per se.

Sun in the 1st too, conjunct the AC (in Gemini) but my Sun is in Cancer. I would think that the Sun being conjunct the AC would give some sort of Aries-like characteristics since the 1st house is the Aries house.

I don't think I'm a very forceful person, but most people who meet me would say I'm a very cheerful, sociable person. I have Chiron in Cancer, right between the Sun and the AC, Uranus and Saturn opposing all of those, and Moon in Libra squaring them, just to give a bit of a soft edge to all this.

But I can feel extremely self-conscious and shy at times, especially in groups where I feel like an outsider (that's a Chiron thing though). I've noticed that I sometimes watch my words and the way I act very carefully, to not come across as rude (or for fear of rejection) and then choose to not say anything at all. That would be pretty Cancer-like, right? I've decided to try harder to not resort to that so much.

Sun in 1st tends to make someone "self-centered"- which is itself a Leo trait.

It is hard for people who have planets in 1st to listen to the opinions and views of others outside of themselves. Because their own voice is usually the loudest and lasts the longest.

So the Sun in 1st house person may seem very much resolved to talk about something that interests them. And may steer the conversation in the direction that they want it to go.

They may not be everybody's favorite person to be around; because they tend to have an ego that is quite sensitive or prone to be easily offended.

So you either really like how "out there" they are. Or you may find them overwhelming (especially when Sun/Jupiter/Pluto/Mars) is there or selfish.

Because sooner or later everything starts to revolve round them or be about them etc.

First house is ruled by Aries and planet Mars. Leo rules 5th house.

Aries and Leo are both fire signs, and have some similarities, so I see why you may have confused two of them.

Sun and mars in Libra there. I can't say I act like a Leo rising(tho I have a Leo moon)but I can say my personality Is a lot more open and forceful than my sign suggest. Didn't notice how pushy I actually was

That's been one thing I've noticed with Leos, especially in the moon placement and other fixed signs; the tendency to shut people down. This is where they lose me.

Does your Libra Mars behave more like an Aries Mars? Do you relate to "Mars in Aries" descriptions? If not, how's your Libra Mars aspected?
