Hi,

I had transiting Jupiter go over my ASC earlier this summer--and up to the point leading up to Jupiter's transit to my ASC in the H12 to it going through my H1--I am gaining weight! I had read on this forum that can happen, but didn't really believe it since I don't usually gain weight.

My nephew and a my cousin's son who have Jupiter over their ASC this year--ALSO gained an inexplicable amount of weight as well (and they too tend to be thin).

Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

Will the weight fall off once Jupiter goes into H2?

Help,
Scorpio in the land of Weight Gain

Haven't experienced that. I also have JUPITER in the 1H.

Maybe it's something else.

I'm also going to move this one over into Astro 2.0, where I feel it's more appropriate.

I had transit jupiter sextile my asc last year and my mid-section expanded quite a bit. Even for the sextile. I think it was because everything increased, lots of work, and gatherings, with other people, where there was a lot of food. I just didn't put in the extra work to keep the mid-drift slim. It was a bit frumpy.

I have this placement in libra and I love me some damn sweets, but I was bigger when I was younger. However, as I got older it balanced it self out. It will make you live it loud and not care!

When tr Jupiter in Virgo entered my 1st house 12 years ago and conjunct my ASC and Sun, I put on weight almost immediately, with the first hit. But it’s not the case this time.

I am also having some difficult Saturn transits (square Venus, opposite MC and soon Moon), and there is some stress involved so maybe that’s the reason why my weight stays the same.

Yeah I lost weight during this transit too. I've never bought into Jupiter in 1H expanding the body, as I have Jupiter in 1H natally and consider myself average size - others tell me I'm small.

If you don't like the weight I would think attempting to lose it while Jupiter is still in 1H would be the best course of action, as Jupiter is benefic and is in the house of the physical body. It may mean you are more likely to lose the weight easily.

Honestly Jupiter in 2H was not better for losing weight for me. I actually gained back some of the weight I lost as I was in a better place emotionally than when Jupiter was in 1H (when I get really sad I am unable to eat and lose weight rapidly). Jupiter in 2H also made me feel more secure and expanded my love of creature comforts (ie, food!) lol. So no I wouldn't say 2H is necessarily better for weight loss.

Well look at the other planets too.
Don't be ruled,, is to say do not manifest the energies of THAT transit only in a way that harms,,,, rule by your stars(planets) and DO something that is A better manifestation of growth. FREE WILL

I can absolutely vouch for the truth that Jupiter transiting your Asc/1st house can, and probably will, cause you to gain weight. At least that's my experience.

I have always been very thin, to the point that people were annoying in pointing out how "skinny" I was (that's not a compliment, imo).

But...when Jupiter transited my Asc and the entire year it was in my 1st house, I gained about 25 lb! I went from 120 lb to about 145 lb! I'm reasonably tall, so it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but I wasn't trying to buy an entirely new wardrobe. -_-

In answer to the last part of your question, as soon as Jupiter moved into my second house, I went back to work full-time, was on my feet all day moving around, and lost almost 10 lb.

It was kind of ridiculous how predictably it affected my physical body, and then my finances when it entered my 2nd house.

So yes, just hang in there if you don't want the extra weight. Again, I can only speak from my own experience, but that's how it happened for me.

In other news, I never paid much mind to Jupiter transits until I realized the correlation with my weight gain and the Jupiter transit.

Now I pay more attention to Jupiter.
I will also add that my H1 is empty of planets.

I'm the same way, no planets in H1...what happened when Jupiter went to H2?

It transited over my Moon, and I was hired full-time at a nursing home, doing work that touched my heart and soul deeply, and I also became the primary source of income for our household. My job required me to be on my feet for 8 hours a day, so I lost weight.

It's still in my 2nd house, and we have moved to a place we really like so far. I gave notice at my job, and was also reminded of how much I love being able to stay at home with my son during the day.

So, although I'm not making the money that I had been making, I'm still involved in 2nd house type stuff. The things that I value in life.

...

Oh. And besides my H1 being empty of planets, my H7 is also empty of planets. So not much going on during that Jupiter transit, other than moving through my H1.

So nice to read this wonderful experience. My life is a mess now and Júpiter will soon conjunct my moon and Mercury, hoping for a change. Thanks for posting!

Bumping this because I would like to know the answer lol. I have Jupiter sitting right on my Asc (and NN) right now and the struggle is real. I’m a very small person and every two pounds I gain, looks like 5. This is not funny anymore! 😭

Jupiter on Asc tends to enhance self-appreciation in the holistic sense of the word. One does not look at oneself as maintaining or needing to live up to a "Ken Doll" image or becoming Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This is about appreciating the tongue as an important muscle, the neck, the toes and all the encompasses the physical in making the body what it is- a beautiful physical specimen.

It is not about aesthetics nor about society's standards of what the "body" is, but really the celebration of you as a specimen who is alive, kicking & thriving.

Jupiter in aspect to Asc may pick up weight as it relaxes the constraints of the emotional pain-body.In that when we come to a conscious realization that "all is well", the body stops living on a survival mode & is able to take in more nutrients and absorb more fats etc.

This is much like a person being supplied with a Z30,000 (or dollars) cheque and being told to "go wild" as all their bills & outstanding debt has been settled. What resistance is there? They savour that spending.

Jpiter relaxes resistance-hence the weight gain, increase in confidence & "can do" spirit. What's another chocolate?Soda? Or last piece of Pizza gonna hurt? And Jupiter whispers in your ear "All is well. Do it."

I have Jupiter trine Asc wide orb of 4 degrees. I like chocolate. A LOT. I am also a big fan of dairy products . But i also the Venus/Saturn sacred guilt to tell me "That's enough. Put that donut down." LOL

I was really surprised when that happened.
I had some super-double-whammy Jupiter transits at that time also.

Been a slim person and never had to watch what I ate. Everything stayed in balance. If I gained a few, I'd lose those, back to the 'set-point' without any thought.

Had gone to my doctor who said I was "older" now, and he preferred me to gain some weight.
I was 'too' thin for a while, and was under the weight-range preferred for my age.

{{And, I'd had some physical difficulties that fell into the mix too.}}
Problems that required right-food and not allowing an empty stomach while it healed.

Well..
Last time I was weighed, the nurse kind of looked away a bit. She knew that I knew..

I told her, The doctor had asked me to gain weight-- and you know what?-- All my life, I've always been an OVER-achiever in meeting my goals!

She liked that. The staff that overheard, grinned.

Thanks for your answers guys. Aries, you’re exactly right...I’ve definitely been less harsh on myself the past few months & telling myself I’m fine the way I am and enjoying more - but now it’s catching up to me! Ugh.

And Mirage, that’s a good story. It’s good to find a funny side to a situation! But yes, I’m the same as you, where my body has always regulated itself within a few pounds - so this has been an unwelcome situation for me. Dangit! Must.find.discipline.

well, my tr Jupiter is in 1st house, and I did gain some weight. I am usually on a slim side, and gaining weight makes me uncomfortable. I started to control my food intake (never had to do it before), it is somewhat helps with not putting too much weight, but still even with all the efforts I gained some Can not wait when my Jupiter moves to 2nd house , lol

I just recently had Jupiter transiting my ASC (Scorpio Rising) and I had neither gained nor lost weight. I did build muscle mass but that's also because of working in hardwood flooring.

I have noticed on a couple of occasions in my life that jupiter transits have the opposite effect on what one traditionally expects. When jupiter transited my ASC that was the time I'd lost a couple of cm around my waistline and have kept it off since. When transit jupiter trined my sun exact I lost a sibling. Maybe it's due to natal jupiter being retrograde in my chart, I don't know.

Electro, I am as Scorpio Rising as well and I did gained weight I gained about 5 pounds but with my 5'2 height it is noticeable . Anyways, by the end of 2019, my jupiter should move to 2nd house.
Mirage, I really really really hope! I am so tired of working, all my life hard work, have to do everything by myself. I need a break! My TR Uranus opposite natal Jupiter, and Tr Jupiter in 1st house, I really hope for lucky break. I had a real opportunity became independently financially secure, but I missed this opportunity because I was preoccupied with other things plus it required to substantial investment (well at least in my book substantial) and was really really really really risky. So I skipped it, well... as you can imagine people who invested it got extremely nice returns . I am happy for them, but damn....... I am really upset at myself
