Have a VERY cool link explaining the indicators of political ideology:
http://zot.net/pallas_liberty.htm

VERY interesting... the Moon/Venus/Nodes formula as described on this site fits my views PERFECTLY. For cultural/social views I have Moon sextile Neptune, ruler of the 4th Jupiter trine Neptune and South Node, Neptune in the 4th, Moon's rulers Pluto and Mars each sextiling Neptune, and Neptune parallel the IC, and for economics I have Venus opposite Neptune and the North Node parallel the 2nd house cusp. I am VERY socially liberal, while economically mixed but leaning left. I've tried this formula out on people I know and it also works... VERY interesting.

What are your Nodes/Neptune aspects involving Venus, the Moon, and the rulers of the 2nd and 4th houses (Moon, Venus, and 2nd/4th house rulers in the 12th house or Pisces also count towards liberalism, and the same with them being in the 2nd and 4th houses or in Taurus and Cancer being indicators towards conservatism), and does it all resonate with your actual political views?

Pallis inconjunct Sun and bi-quintile NN is all I've got, though Pluto (ruler) makes several major aspects including a Jupiter trine. I would rate myself as a defensive Pallis with very little tolerance for authoritianism. So I'm not sure this is in line with the article.

Venus conjunct NN darn near exact. Free markets good! At most, governments should act as referees to keep markets honest.

Moon... square Neptune so fluid moon maybe? Comes out as Libertarian either way... Which I suppose is close enough to me as lables go. Though they are little more than brand names these days if you want my opinion.

There's much to wrap my head around!

I lean left, but am unsure about the aspects in my natal chart.

  • Pallas sits at 28 degrees Aquarius while my Sun sits at 11 degrees Aquarius.
  • Pallas is square my Moon and Jupiter (chart ruler), forming a T-Square.
  • Pallas is conjunct my North Node and semi-sextile Mercury.

Aquarius is ruled by Saturn and Uranus; I'm Capricorn-dominant with Uranus sitting directly on my Sun/Moon midpoint.

quote:
Pallas in disharmonious aspect to Jupiter, in any aspect to Pluto, or in a stronger aspect to the South Node than to the North Node ("Aggressive Pallas") tends to increase a native's philosophically aggressive or authoritarian tendencies.

Pallas makes hard aspects to my Moon and Jupiter, but is conjunct my North Node. *Scratches head*

I have no idea. :S

Cool thread, though!

For me:

• Pallas Rx and Moon (both 10th House Libra) are closely conjunct each other. My True Node also lies in the same sign and house.

• Both Pallas Rx and Moon are also closely trine Venus (7th House Gemini).

• Moon biquintile Mercury (6th House Taurus) EXACT.

• Venus biquintile Neptune (2nd House Capricorn)

• Jupiter (2nd House Capricorn) semisquare Pluto (12th House Sagittarius) EXACT; closely square True Node

• Saturn (4th House Aries) closely trine Pluto

But I have to say, I question the inclusion of many people in the "Left-Wing Authoritarians" section. Abraham Lincoln? Dick Cheney? Are you kidding me?

I read somewhere recently that moon in the 5th house is a political indicator or at least shows that the person might be interested in politics Barack Obama has moon in the 5th house

Attempting to attach a particular type of politics to a person because of factors in their birth chart assumes the person is static and does not learn. Personal politics is part of one's world view and interface with society which can change as one matures and learns.

I have been voting since 1988, and I was a political activist before I began voting. My politics has gone from far right to what some would consider far left.
I would describe myself in Alan L. Lin's (zot.net) terms as 'principled progressive', yet I am not 'authoritarian' in any way in my politics. I despise hierarchies in any form, economic or otherwise.

Mr. Lin's libertarian-capitalist bias is revealed plainly within this statement:

quote:
... While "Fluid Venus" is present in nearly all the charts of leftists in this sample, it is not a reliable indicator that the native will adhere to leftist economics. Many natives with the pattern will shift to non-interventionist economics after a comparative study of economic systems ...

I did the exact opposite, going from 'libertarian' non-interventionist economics when I was young and stupid to more and more support of intervention against policies of capitalist collusion against democratic interests.

In addition, I have Moon in aspect to North Node and in the 4th house, a factor he says indicating 'cultural conservatism.' I was born into it, but couldn't be further from it now.

Mr. Lin seems to lean heavily on an off the shelf notion of right vs left in some ways, apparently priding himself on being in some ideological middle ground (wrong). However, he does show a better than average understanding of politics, at least in terms of election cycle or partisan alignments.

Since human beings are moving targets of ongoing development, using set particulars, especially relying so heavily on a single asteroid particular like Pallas to determine their politics is simply not credible with me. Notice how Mr. Lin uses the word 'tends' so often in his descriptions of the influences of Pallas in aspect to planets. Where there are patterns there are going to be significant exceptions with human beings.

You have to ask yourself what is the purpose here? To nail people into boxes of fixed perspective? To suggest that astrology sets your politics at birth? To just show tendencies? To create self-awareness?

And what is the purpose of getting such information -- for you, now?

I gained little if anything from it. I could school Mr. Lin on economics and politics.

Oh yeah, Pallas... I have Pallas square Jupiter but rulers of Pallas Saturn and Uranus are each opposite Mercury, Saturn is parallel Sun, and Mercury is parallel Uranus. This is an ethical indicator, which fits me pretty well. As for Cheney and Lincoln in the left wing authoritarian category, I know, though Cheney was pretty authoritarian and he often puts the "RINOs" in the left wing category because they have very mixed charts all-around and all have authoritarian Pallas (nearly every politician has one). So interesting and this explains why there are so many people I know with heavy air and fire in their charts that are conservatives and there are quite a few liberals with heavy earth and water in their charts.

I just did your chart, and while you do have Moon in the 4th house, it's trining the South Node, which is a left wing indicator. Moon is also semisquare Neptune and its ruler (which is also ruler of the 4th) is also trining the South Node. Your economic indicators are also left wing and your Pallas aspects support that you're anti-authoritarian. For the nodes the conjunction and trine outweigh the opposition and sextile... as for the right wing bias, I saw it too (it's even more prominent on his other blog http://astrolibertarian.blogspot.com, which has numerous charts on world events and how Pallas plays a huge factor in them), but I used the site to find out why people vote the way they do (and why it's nearly impossible to change someone's views unless an event happens to them that causes it, which is always the result of an astrological transit) and when it was so accurate for myself (I always test a theory before believing it), as well as others I know, I just found it extremely interesting.

So everyone born when I was, LIKELY has same political view,
I don't buy that.
Age of parents, their income, only child or multiple siblings, maybe whether raised in New York or some small town in Iowa bound to have as much to do with it.
I put Sun opposition Pallas in my edit find box and there are six on that page. Of course they all have different other aspects and moons.
I guess I just think their sampling is far to small.

I don't think you can see political views, as you really cannot see character. These are choices and values. These are not shown, I don't think. One can see how HARD it may be to have good character in some charts and it really is in some charts.

Also, political views change. One often, if politically minded, starts right wing (or the reverse) and progresses to the other end of the spectrum. So, how would astrology account for political views that alter dramatically!

I think I can explain that... basically I see it as part of God's plan, similar to how people born in a certain month or a certain generation share certain characteristics. The sun signs, and to a lesser extent, the inner planets, are there to make everybody different, and the outer planet placements are there to give generations certain obsessions/ideals, in order for society to evolve. Life wouldn't be as interesting if everybody had the same personality... same goes with political ideology (the positions of the angles are why there are liberals and conservatives born on the same day, similar to how everybody born in the same Sun sign has a different ascendant and Moon sign), because if EVERYBODY was liberal or vice versa, there would be a BIG risk of extremism as a result of no opposition to keep it in check. Extremism can destroy society... I did notice a couple exceptions (Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry, for example, don't have major right wing indicators, but politicians can act right or left wing in order to gain power if they're in a highly liberal or conservative area. This isn't as prevalent outside the state and federal government, as local government is non partisan) but there are enough matches to where I believe that this site is on to something.

I tested the Moon/Mars formula, and I have equal aspects to my Moon and Mars (though I do resonate more with the Moon stage than the Mars stage), while a very conservative person I know has minimal Mars aspects... very interesting nonetheless.

Another possibility is that evil entities feed off our negative energy, and by inflicting contradictory and often irreconcilable doctrines (as opposed to not wiring our brains to hurt each other over ideology/politics and/or inclined to extremism in the first place), they can add to the fighting, misery, and yummy warfare (which is always going on somewhere, and pretty much has for all of human history--the "exceptions" were when there "weren't enough people to count" as the population was too low or it was considered "pacification" and other police measures which includes tortures, executions, and mass murders against people unable or unwilling to fight back). Extremism is encouraged, though some are trying to get past that, but it's not natural because we were made to bleed negative energy, which is what ideology does. It's actually a form of insanity (at least those who identify too close with it) that can be measured in brain scans. And if everyone was about the same ideology then that would eliminate a lot of misery and warfare and then our creators would starve which would mean we'd have no purpose.

Gemini Moon. Notice how Gemini Sun ppl are rampant in the entertainment world. Yet both Vladimir Putin and Obama are Gemini moons as well as U.S. generals and politically vocal philosophers. Gem Sun loves being part of the crowd socializing. Gem moon loves to seduce crowds into choosing them (for whatever it is they want to be chosen for). Doesnt matter if they are particularly social or not. Their words and cleverness are their tools and thats how they win ppl over (think speeches, economic promises, etc.). All things that require the skill of "swaying" ppl to your side. Gem moon is a master at this b/c while other signs may do it for image or status gem moon literally feels emotionally happy in the position of eloquent pied-piper. They love the intellectual game.

Also, Cancer / Cap Sun. Tons of presidents have these just look it up

Oh wait, I misunderstood your post based on the title lol. My political views are the kind that would bring both wings together in a mutual decision to off me. And it has nothing to do with being a middle-ground type. Do my views match my placements? My Pluto in Scorpio makes a hard aspect to my Rx Jupiter in the 9th, so I would say yes

I find it difficult to see how a chart can be reflective of political views.

I'm a Gemini Moon as well, and I'm the diametric opposite of President Obama. Yet, I'm also politically different from President Putin.

I'm a Capricorn Sun in 10th House. In that sense, then one can see myself as being a capitalist, but then, Mao Tse Tung was also a Capricorn Sun in 10th House.
