I think interpretations of planets in the first are more so getting at the fact that the sign traits will double/intensify (since typically first house placements will be in the same sign). Then those intesified traits are applied to first house (arian) issues.

Hmmm.... There has to be some exchange of energy with the ascendant though. Perhaps it gives me the expression of both a Scorpio Asc and Sag Asc (since my sun in the 1st is in Sag). A case of feeling the sign that the first house planet is in. Another perspective could be that it gives me Leo-ish traits on my Asc. A case of feeling the original sign of whatever planet is in the first house. For example, I also have Venus in the first house and I can definitely feel Libra/Taurus influence all over my ascendant.

I believe I feel the original sign of the planets in my first house more than the sign of the house ruler itself. Im not very Arian at all. Here is my theory. I have a Scorpian, Leo-ish, Libran/Taurus-like expression in relation to Arian things (the self, goals, etc.) lol. Would probably seems less odd if I didnt have so many things in my first house. It seems the most fitting based on the energies I can actually feel.
