I am not a Taurus, but I feel like defending them and explaining why I think they are cool, not dull.

When people say that Taurus is slow, plodding, patient, pleasant, conservative, loyal, materialistic (non-spiritual), food-loving and unimaginative, it annoys me a little bit. It implies that Taurus traits will ensure that you remain no more than someone’s loveable, but slightly stupid and overweight friend. There is something covertly insulting and condescending about most of the “nice, but dull” adjectives that are used for this sign. Well, this may be true for a mediocre version of a Taurus … but as with any other sign there are many people who have evolved far beyond this.

The highest manifestors of Taurean traits show that Taurus is potentially the most “Zen” of all the signs. The thing about Taurus “stability” is that it confers an ability to be in the moment. When a person authentically expresses their Taurus traits, they will find they are supremely present and at home on the earth. Time does not enslave them and they can see, feel, hear, smell and taste without the interference of their monkey-mind jumping to the past and future. Taurus has the ability to just “be” more than any other sign. Taurus embodies the ordinary miracle of existence … the relaxed but fully alert mind which is attuned to inspiration. In this sensitive state it is possible to connect on a highly spiritual, intelligent and creative level with everything that is. Yes, this Taurus can be sensual – but it is not self-indulgence – it is a powerful awakening of the sensory antennae to life without needing to “do” or “have” anything. It is a mistake to think that Taurus is all about grasping things – the truth is that Taurus in its purest form is about “be-ing” not “have-ing”.
And please don’t tell me all Taurean’s look like hefty, thick-set, rugby forwards. Ethereal beauty, Audrey Hepburn was one of the coolest Taurean beauties of the past century. And Taurus Rising includes elegant and graceful beauties such as Elle McPherson, Kate Middleton, Mia Farrow (very delicate), Vivienne Leigh and Sheryl Crow.

What do you think?

Well, I'm a Taurus female, so take this for what it's worth, LOL
First off ,I am very calm & Zen UNTIL someone crosses me. Then that famous taurean rage comes out! But it takes a LOT to get me to that point. I forgive but don't forget, I have a very pure heart and am SUPER sensitive. Cry over everything, but am not weak at all, am very emotionally strong.
I have been described as very humble & down to earth, also, (and I don't see it, but have been told I'm beautiful). I love food & the arts.

I've been told I make people fell better just by being around them , as I have a very calm & friendly disposition. I also have a moon in Pisces, and am highly psychic & spiritual. so I'm sure that helps as well. I tend to be "the healer". No way would I be described as boring! LOL....so not sure...but I truly feel I am pretty cool & diplomatic. I make friends wherever I go as well. And people confide in me often as I try to be non judgmental and I DO NOT GOSSIP. I hate gossip.....

My brother is a Taurus. An EXTREMELY cliche Taurus, too.

Overweight, thick neck, Taurean lips and jaw, loves soft things, hates going out, likes being in the comfort of his own home watching movies and football, smoking weed, talking, etc.

I'm a Pisces and we get along well. When I lived at home, I used to take him to the movies to watch chick flicks with me and he never minded. (I can count the number of chick flicks my husband has watched with me on one hand)

Food is his holy grail. But he eats a lot of junk.

Zen? Now that I think about it, a lot of the things I try to do (meditation, yoga) is to get where he is and his natural calmness.

But oh boy, if you get him angry (which, like DreamCatcher, takes a LOT) it's like all hell breaks loose.

The odd thing is, I feel like Taurus actually has much more of an interest in esotericism than they are given credit for. Especially 3rd Decan Taureans. The two other Taureans I talk to on a regular basis are really into esoteric subjects.. One of them is really into Conspiracy theories. The other one is interested in a lot of esoteric subjects. My Mom, also a Taurus, while she was often skeptical, she also showed a slight interest in some of the things I'd talk about in the past.. Such as crystals, astrology, and sometimes even extraterrestrials.

I feel like Taurus, they have the tendency to want to look within the lines, and to stay within the realms of what is easily seen.. But, I feel like a lot of them also have a deep interest in how things work, on a deeper level.. Leading them to have an interest in metaphysics, even while they have a slight aversion to it.

I will admit, the Taurean I know that is into conspiracy, she really likes eating and enjoying physical comforts.. But, there is much more to her than that.

Then, there is David Icke (not to say I agree or disagree with him on all the things he talks about..)

Another Taurean I know, on a non-personal level is really into crystals, astrology and herbalism.

After all, Taurus does have a certain connection with the Moon.. I feel like for a lot of them, there aren't many that are completely closed off to ideas that go beyond the physical.

Yes, we might like to enjoy our senses.. And I think that is because, to me, Taurus is all about learning to enjoy the things we DIDN'T pay for (things we came to this world with) and learning to enjoy the moment.

I feel like it is a sign that is interested in learning how things work, and, I feel like for some of them, that leads them to metaphysics.

I also feel like we are a sign that is generally a lot more anxious than we seem. Lol..

I think for a lot of us, we've spent SO much time with extreme anxiety that we kinda just learn to live in the present and come to the realization that worrying about things without a change in action does nothing for us.

WOW is all I can say to this! I agree with ALL of the above! Everyone comments on how calm, cool & collected I am, meanwhile, I am WAY more anxious than anybody will see!

I am very much into crystals, herbs, astrology, conspiracy theories, Aliens, and the list goes on &on...I can talk about these subjects for DAYS! I am also constantly seeking for the deeper meanings of things...WOW so spot on!!!!

I've got a Taurus moon and I agree with all that's been said so far. I've always been interested in metaphysical subjects, astrology, numerology, crystals, meditation, herbal health, and I love nature. More than anything, what I want most in life is a sense of internal peace and happiness. I've had plenty of comments about how level-headed, calm and sensible of a person I am even in hectic situations. I've also been told I'm very strong emotionally. The thing about Taurus is that we tend to project calmness on the outside, but if something hectic is going on around us we're usually a ball of anxiety on the inside, but somehow no one ever sees the anxiety lol.

My Taurus friend who I've known since age 9 is the first person to say the words "astral plane" to me. We were about 12 then. It took me a while to figure out what the heck she meant.

I do love Taurus calm.

My SN is in Taurus, though I rarely think about it.

Wut, we're cool?! ?!? 🤔

I'm with what DreamCatcher said. But I think Tauruses in general can be boring, but it's a different kind of boring.
Actually, what is considered boring? It's a weird concept to me. A lot of things can be boring.

But really, I actually see what people say in general about Tauruses being such a "stick in the mud". Stubborn as a mule, rather be home than get black-out drunk, very practical. Nah, we're just full-blown zenful people. Most of the time.

who ever you are thank you for writing this post
i get a little depressed when i read things about my sign and it's nice to see someone giving us a little credit.

i don't know about the whole zen thing, but i do think that we have more of a thing for the esoteric thing than many sources write about...like someone already mentioned

i'm a taurus andi don't really know how i'd describe us, i am aware of my boringness....but like someone said what does it mean to be boring anyway...acting like an idiot getting drunk and partying or w/e is personally boring for me.

i just wanted to say thx for trying to expand the understanding of what it means to be a taurus

"To ignore or abuse the body is mistaken spirituality. When we honor the body with our attention, we begin to reclaim our feelings, our instincts, our life. Out of this developing attention, we can then experience the healing of our senses. The eyes, the tongue, the ears, and the sense of touch are rejuvenated. Many people experience this after some period of meditation. Colors are pure, flavors fresh, we can feel our feet on the earth as if we were children again. This cleansing of the senses allows us to experience the joy of being alive and a growing intimacy with life here and now." (Jack Kornfield, A Path With Heart)

I saw this, and it kinda made me think about this thread

Sure they don't have to be boring. It's just a Sun sign. I can see Sagittarius, Pisces and Scorpio somewhere in the big 3 lead a Bull to exploration of the otherworldly. Neptune, Pluto, 8H and 9H would be useful here too.

One of my favorite YT occultists turned out to be a Taurus. This guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/Rich2150x/videos
I was initially surprised but then I'd suspected him to have some Sag before and if I'm right, the way he evolved wouldn't be that strange. Also, my 9th house covers 29 deg of Taurus which means his Sun and possibly something else falls there which totally makes sense in my case. There's also a woman who I suspect to have at least 1 Taurus placement, the Sun or the ASC or both. I think her Moon is in Pisces.

I have Taurus Mars (3rd decan) in the 9th house. My energy level, tendency for energy conservation and stubborness may be Taurean but other than that the house rules over it.

This all fits on my husbands Taurus Moon (Aries Sun). Likes being in his comfort zone (home), LOVES LOVES food, smokes weed, very polite/kind/talkative until you cross him and then? WATCH THE F*** OUT!! I've seen 80 % of his rage and it's no fun. He is very family oriented. Much more than I am and I have a Cancer stellium. He is very, very slow to change but when he does it's for good. I change in a heartbeat and he hates it.

He is sensual and loves earth and naked bodies. All senses are on fire in him!

I have Taurus SN, Chiron, Jupiter and MC.

Oooo he's attractive. (Minus the ponytail, it's too glossy and pretty and doesn't match his face...sorry to nitpick, but my pr moon in Virgo demands expression.) I've noticed a lot of Taurus men have long hair.

Thanks She has Sag NN with Gem Mercury opposing Sag Neptune. Pisces Mars.

The moon was in Aries & Taurus the day she was born. I would choose Taurus. But she's a yoga instructor...so maybe Aries.

Point is her mother was into all kinds of esoteric and oddball things, and it trickled down to us. But I don't know her mother's birthday.

There is this Taurus guy I talk to at the organic foodstore from time to time. He's somewhere in his 60's (I know, that probably seems extremely irrelevant, but, given that I am 20, there is definitely a bit of a difference in perspective brought on by our age difference).. He always interests me with what he's talking about lol. He's always talking about the places he's traveled to, what they were like.. And he recommends me to go to all kinds of places. I've also overheard him having some really interesting conversation about Wine (I don't know much about wine, so it was interesting to me).. I hear him talking about certain specialty shops that specialize in certain foods/drinks.. He's always so fun to hear from. One time he told me about this shop where all the sell is licorice lol.. He told me that if I liked licorice, it was definitely a place to go to because they had all kinds of varieties and such.

I think he's a really interesting guy. Yeah, some of those things may seem really simplistic.. But, the enjoyment he shows about those things, I believe that is where the Taurean in him really comes out.

I feel like Taurus is one of those signs that also seem to really sit down and take their time to find their "favorites" kind of like.. That person you talk to who's tried hundreds of different beers and has one or two they absolutely love. I feel like Taurus is interested in really exploring the variety of things and finding a new favorite fruit.. Or, a new favorite wine.. Or a new favorite song.

That may be my Sagittarius Moon conjunct Jupiter though. But, I feel Sagittarius and Taurus have that somewhat indulgent characteristic in common.

I'm sure I've written this somewhere before, but I feel like the reason why Taurus is considered stubborn sometimes is because it is a sign that can be a bit indecisive and really take their time taking in and thinking about the different decisions they could make. So, once they finally make their decision (which takes awhile) they want to stick to it, because they've already spent so much time pondering all the different choices they have. This is probably a trait that is especially apparent in Taureans with Gemini Mercury. But, you have to remember Taurus can be slow, but sometimes there is a deliberateness to that.

^^ However, that could be somewhat coming from the Neptune aspects in my chart.

I just feel like Taurus likes to take its time. For some people, that could box them in, 'if it worked well once, why not again?' (AKA not AGAINST or resistant to trying new things, rather staying with something because it is "secure") or, it could give the influence of being very meticulous and explorative (I know, it's not a word.. But, it works for now)
