No, actually it isn't, but you're not required to believe in it in order to accept astrology.

Changing from one age to another does not plop extra compassion into our laps, nor guarantee any improvements in the human condition. Thinking that it somehow does has persistently miscolored the entire notion of a shift of the ages. People feel disillusioned about the current state of the world (hate and conflict), and react to their own disillusionment with an idealism about the coming 'new' age. The Age of Aquarius is not coming to 'save' us from ourselves. It is just another mode of expression, of values, for a period of the next 2100 years or so that is characterized by the Uranian energy in a fixed air (structurally oriented, global-relational) mode.

I don't think it has to do with bringing in more compassion, because people already help. And killing off people via storms, fire, floods, etc, isn't very compassionate.

By that reasoning life itself (or its Source) cannot be compassionate since everyone gets killed off by something.

People also still judging and hating and living in separationist consciousness. That is only remedied by more compassion and greater unity.

All suffering presents the opportunity for Compassion.

Compassion is a choice of human response. Death and how many people die does not seem compassionate, but death will happen to all of us. The thing that matters is the state of consciousness we hold in the process.

The work of many people on death and dying (Ram Dass, Elisabeth Kubler Ross) is testimony to this.

That there is suffering in the world is not a substantive foundation for belief or disbelief in anything. It is simply a call for Compassion, which is not pity, but the Love for the whole of the human condition and life itself (self and others simultaneously). This is the only thing that cushions the blows of life on Earth, the only thing that generates hope and makes it worthwhile. We all want it.
