Ascendent square Mars (3) Ascendent square Uranus (3) Ascendent square Neptune (exact) My ascendent pretty much squares all my personal planets but by a wide orb too. I really give off the wrong first impression but I'm not sure how to change this. Once people get to know me they say that they have complete different ideas about me than when they first met me. Upon first meeting some people either really like me or they don't like me, some even have gone as far to say I'm rude and ingenuine. However, once they get to know me they find the exact opposite is true. I get people telling me all the time that they wish they would have gotten to know me sooner. Are these ascendant aspects common in people giving off "the wrong" first impression? ------------------ Cap Sun Leo Moon Aqua Merc Aqua Venus Cap Mars Leo MC Libra Rising ~~~Blessed Be~~~~ IP: Logged |

I can relate. I'm also a cardinal girl and my Asc receives 4 squares (Mercury, Mars, Pluto and Saturn). I'm Aries Sun, Cap rising. I get that a lot, people telling me I seem very cold and standoffish until they get to know me better. Some have said the B-word. It's a pain to have an afflicted Asc, not only it affects your body, your perception of your body, but other's perception too! And it f^cks your relationships since any square to Asc is a square to the DC. Fun times. I have no clue how to handle squares because I don't have any aside from the ones to my Asc. I have oppositions, those I have mastered. Sometimes the negative energy is unbearable. 3 weeks ago I had a breakdown because I was contemplating meeting someone for the first time and became extremely self conscious that I almost broke it off with him. It's a tension I need to learn to get a grip on instead of letting it ruin my life. I started by working my body - if it wants tension, tension it will have. IP: Logged |

Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, squares are very hard, especially the cardinal ones. I can relate to having breakdowns when worrying about first meetings. I was depressed and had a breakdown before my job interview and I always become way more nervous than necessary on the first day of classes IP: Logged |

I know! I am the same. I hate meeting new people, in any circumstance. I think the conflict we need to figure out is between who we are on the inside and how we want to appear to others. My Sun and my Asc are not technically in a square (10 deg is too wide), but it doesn't matter. Aries energy and Cap energy will always butt heads. I don't know about your experience, but this conflict usually resides with one of the parents because the planets generally fall in a parental house (or both). They don't in my case, but it still fits. Basically I was too much to handle for my parents being a hyperkinetic little Aries, so I learned early on the Aries energy was unwanted and I had to be quiet, polite, well mannered and especially unemotional. Both parents had a problem with that, but my Mom in particular. Crying was forbidden in our house. So I learned to put on the Capricorn shell, except it wasn't who I was and people saw through that and they confronted me about it (some of which have been brutal - Mars&Pluto). I think having an afflicted Asc is ultimately an exercise in authenticity - figure out who you are and want to be from now on: the Cap or the Libra? Channel the qualities of the other sign but behave like the one you favor. In my example, I favor Aries over Cap, however I need the Cap patience and stamina to get anything accomplished. But I will try to behave more like an Aries in my interactions. Not because it helps smooth relationships but because it makes me feel good about myself. IP: Logged |

Tell me about it. My Asc sits in Scorpio opposing my Saturn, Squaring my Merc, Sun and Neptune and is involved in T-Squares. It also is in an exact conjunction with my Scorpio Mars, and it sits on the 00th degree. I don't necessarily give off an entirely negative impression, but that might be due to the disassociate trine my ascendant has with Venus in Aquarius. People have said that I can be cocky and rude, which isn't me at all. I can agree that I can be arrogant at times, but I'm definitely not cocky. I'm extremely difficult to approach and people have told me that sometimes I'm just too quiet and I'm a mystery. I also find it difficult to approach certain people at times and sometimes unintentionally offend them, unable to understand how I offended them. Being rather reserved has helped tone down how extreme I can come off to people, but once you get past that Scorpio rising, you'll realize how much of an Aquarius I really am lol. IP: Logged | |
