It can override any crap synastry that there might be, that would otherwise be really annoying. Like I just realized that your Sun is also square my Pluto, and opposite my Saturn, but probably because of that Venus/NN connection (and the wide Venus/Venus trine), I find our interactions to be fun and pleasant, instead of all Pluto/Saturn-ish.
