I was doing a chart analysis for a good friend today, and noticed that he had, no joke, at least 5 major planets retrograde. I have NEVER seen this before...He has Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus AND Pluto retrograding in his chart. I had no clue what to make of this. He is a very gentle, kind, sensitive person. He's very much trying to find someone to have a family with (he's 35), and loves children. I find it interesting that his Venus is direct, because he IS such a loving person, and seems almost too gentle as a result of the other influences? But I am still getting to know him. Anyway, would love to hear a little more from the masses on retrograde planets in the natal and how having almost ALL major planets retrograde could effect someone? IP: Logged |

Makes for looking inside and kind of contemplating one's naval BEFORE one can really use the energies of the planets.I have many articles on retro planets because I have several and am interested too. ------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? I've also got five: Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Pluto and Neptune, and all except Pluto are quite strong and affect me a lot. Luckily, my Mercury is supercharged, being the chart ruler and generally quite positive so I don't have to deal with it at all, but the others - they're the ones who run the show that's my life. It is worth noting that outer planet will stay in their retrograde phase longer than inner planets, which may affect more people rather than having a mercury or mars going retrograde. Personally I have five of them: mercury, jupiter, uranus, neptune and Pluto, all of them do impact my life heavily. Especially mercury, I truly have a way of not being capable of saying what I want to say... or losing things... or thoughts... or just a weird way of understanding and learning in general. And everything is going SO WELL in my life when it goes retrograde in transit. I also have my north node direct, which, while is not a spectacularly rare occurrence, do not happen as often as it is in a retrograde motion. IP: Logged |

The average time between the successive oppositions of Mars, its synodic period, is 780 days but the number of days between the dates of successive oppositions can range from 764 to 812.wiki We know from experience that Mercury is retrograde frequently. The Outer non personal planets spend a lot of time retrograde so that means a lot of people may have retrograde planets. Mars on the other hand, not so frequent, thus more rare. The duration of this retrograde motion is about 72 days. Looking at such a chart you may wish to look at the speed of Mars, and whether or not it was increasing in its daily motion or decreasing in its daily motion and naturally whether or not your friend has Mars SD in his progressed chart. Also any aspects that were made in his very formative years.noting those to chart ruler or planet most angular or nearest Sun in natal You can do that using this page http://www.true-node.com/eph1/ just enter planets in csv ------------------ LeekingChee IP: Logged |

Retrorgade natives are naturally very kind, gentle, and considerate. This is because better than anyone they understand the power of planetary energies. It is an innate understanding. Unlike most ppl who are use to simply expressing energy, Rx ppl are use to feeling energy internally. Often they have already imagined using whatever energy is Rx in a million different ways. So they may feel a great sense of danger from the idea of energy being misused because they know what could result. All of this is especially true of ppl with personal or prominent Rx planets. They may even sound like a therapist or "Zen" quite often. There is a flip to this though. Often Rx ppl are gentle but whenever they are not they tend to go all the way to the other end of the spectrum. How this manifests depends on the specific planets retrograding. So a Mars Rx person may be very passive, nonconfrontaional, and extremely gentle or a tyrant with bloodlust. Same idea with, say, Venus Rx. They may not be able to express Venusian traits very well or they may express an excess leading them into a ton of emotionally damaging relationships. There is usually no balance unless they are very spiritually/mentally elevated (which Rx ppl are good at attaining considering the amount of introspection done daily). One thing that remains true regardless of other factors is their cleverness. They are very cunning, observant, and mentally adept. This is because they had to learn other ways of getting what they want or expressing themselves due to having a different mode of operation than their peers. Makes for tons of creativity but also may be used for wicked purposes. I have only recently begun to understand my own Rx energy and I intend to research it further. Hope this gave you some insight. They are usually introverted, not the loud scream in your face type. There's usually something complicated about them. It's not all out there,it's underground. They're thoughtful, they think it over before they do it.It's like it has to percolate awhile. The action of the planet is more internalized. It takes awhile to make things happen. Retrogrades are very interesting and I really don't know that much,I'll have to study up. When I see a retrograde planet in a chart,it makes that planet more complicated,it doesn't act directly it mulls over things. Retrograde means backward,it's like the planet is going backward! You could be slightly retarded in that area,it's like it takes a long time for you to get it. Take Jupiter in Sagittarius, which is usually full of faith and almost blind optimism, taking things for what they are.Retrograde Jupiter means you have to really develop your own faith and ideas about religion, not take everything at face value. With Neptune retrograde it's like you are super spacy, could be really psychic, and pick up way too many vibes.Neptune is already a spacy planet, with it retrograde you could be more out there than here. When I see a chart with a lot of retrogrades,I think introvert. I was trying to think of someone who would have a lot of retrograde planets and thought of James Taylor, and sure enough,he has quite a few,I think 4!IP: Logged | |
