Out of curiosity, which one usually has the upper hand, either in transits, natal aspects, or synastry? They're both rather powerful fellows, and complete opposites, so I'm curious as to what all of you have to say about these two. IP: Logged |

All I can say (from memory) is that my Saturn Return was more powerful than the Uranus at the time. Though that said, Pluto was in Cap squaring my Saturn (return) which may have made it much more powerful than it otherwise would've been.IP: Logged |

I would say Saturn only because it is a closer planet to the Earth (and therefore to you) and Saturn usually has more personality influence in the natal than Uranus. However everything is variable based on natal circumstances, including the orb. So if your a natal dominant Uranus or have it in your top 3 (like me) Uranus might affect you more. However generally my opinion is that Saturn affects people more. ------------------ "Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace." -Dalai Lama IP: Logged |

I have been thinking about this lately...actually writing in my "journal" (more like a scribble book)...because I'm realizing how much my natal Saturn-Uranus square annoys me. For me they are about equal. So, I make long-term goals (Saturn), develop a plan, and Uranus says, "BORING! SCRAP THAT!" and the plan goes by the wayside, and I lose heart about reaching the goal, because the road looks too damn tedious to walk on. What I figured out is, I just need to keep re-inventing methods to reach the same goal, to keep Uranus happy. It's okay if I commit to one German learning program comprised of 115 lessons, get bored after 12, and need to switch. (Which is where I am now.) Uranus wants to intervene and correct the problem (the program has flaws I am sick of dealing with.) I will re-learn some things when I find a new program, and maybe I will shift again, but eventually I'll learn the basics even as I shift around. That's how I learned astrology. Not by reading one book front to back and studying. More like jumping into a tornado of facts, looking at it from new angles each day (learning glyphs one day, reading about one aspect the next, etc.) Rather than getting down on myself because I don't move in a straight line, I just have to connect the dots from one part of the process to the next, even if they are months or years apart, or seem to have nothing to do with each other. In other words it's all on me to find the order (Saturn) in the chaos (Uranus)...it'll never be perfect because my own Saturn wants dominance (Cap sun) but putting it in context (a Saturn thing...a mental structure) helps Saturn feel like it's won something. At least for now, as I hit submit, before Uranus gets out its wrecking ball.... IP: Logged |

Oh speaking of journals I always end up with a Saturn journal and Uranus journal(s)...not that I thought of it like this before But I realized I have the orderly, neat, "ideal me" journal where I use good handwriting, draw pictures carefully, include quotes by the smartest people I can find.... And then there is the one I'm usually writing in which is the opposite it's just a bunch of words, glyphs, random names, like a messy room where you alone know where things are, and why they are there. I prefer this one, with tr Uranus on my Jupiter, tr sun in Aquarius. I always START the year in the neat one (Cap season.) Not intentionally...I really want the Cap journal to last...I just cannot keep it up, it's so boring it kills me.

I have Saturn sq Uranus and they both win equal amount of times BUT, none of them make me happy in the end. Freedom (Uranus) ultimately makes me feel egotistical and stability/get-my-head-down-and-plough-through (Saturn), makes me feel claustrophobic. I'm f****d either way. IP: Logged |

Theeee Faith,Your replies have been so freakishly strange to me because I'm like, "IM THE SAME WAY!" Like when you were saying how you don't think marriage is for you or something along those lines. For a while, I've been going back and forth about marriage and how I don't see what the point is really. Then here, you're talking about your Saturn and Uranus journals. I have a notebook that looks so neat and organized and then another where it's nonsense and scribbles. There have been other posts of yours where I can relate but I would have to go back and dig through. I relate so much to people here than I do with those in my town. IP: Logged |

I think they're both powerful. Saturn affects me more though because I don't think I'm very Saturnian to begin with.IP: Logged |

Sorry, I wasn't ditching this thread, I've just been reading what people have to say, and don't have much of my own experience to add. When my natal Saturn was squared by T Uranus, it was also being opposed by T Pluto, so I'm not sure which was felt more. I have Saturn/Pluto square natally, so I suppose I'm already somewhat accustomed to that energy. Uranus square of course felt conflicting in terms of obligations vs the need for freedom (that was literally a feeling I had, not just a stereotype). And upheavals like remodeling the house, etc. IP: Logged |

Thanks for letting me know, theeee Readytochill! Glad I am making sense to someone. Sometimes...especially lately...I feel like a fish out of water, so it's nice to know if people can relate to what I am thinking, doing, or going through. @Violets Yeahhhhh transiting Uranus squares...do they do anything good for us? Tr Uranus has been squaring my sun forever it seems. Though it's only been a year. Makes me feel like nothing will be right again...like this past year was a bad turning point, actually. How am I going to recover from it...I go to sleep and wake up in the middle of the night wondering that. It's like all the sudden many problems crashed and piled up. Oh well. I learn "strength through adversity" ? IP: Logged |

I know what you mean. After the Uranus/Pluto square, and Neptune hitting my Mutable T-square at the same time, I sort of feel the same way. The upheaval seems like it's almost permanent now, which I don't care for. I normally can hang with Uranus energy, as it's reasonably prominent for me to begin with, but it's exhausting after a while. IP: Logged |

I wonder what happens when you throw Pluto into the mix?I didn't start this thread with my bizarro family synastry in mind, but here is a weird conjunction between my husband, myself, and our son: My husband's Uranus/MC My Pluto Our son's Saturn. Weird, right? So anything that makes a hard aspect to that point (around 7-8 Libra) makes us all really grouchy and emotionally disruptive. Not really interested in who "wins" out of that conjunction, but I wonder if anyone has anything to say about that type of weird synastry? Actually, it does seem kind of self-explanatory, lol. My husband's desire to constantly move around and change careers is kind of stifled by my son and I (not intentionally, it just is what it is). I have Uranus conjunct IC though, so I don't mind the excitement usually, but it does become exhausting after a while. Aaaaanyway. Rambling. IP: Logged |

That's actually very interesting synastry!!I had something similar in my family... My father's Pluto conjunct my mother's Chiron conjunct my sister's sun....all opposing my sun. Awesome Yes that was sarcasm Love my family but it was really hard. I think it's very cute how tight-knit your family is astrologically, and I hope your new little one even puts something there. Like...a crystal of energy forming bit by bit? IP: Logged |

Thanks, Faith! I've nicknamed our family the LOUD family. When we're happy, we're loud. When we're mad, we're loud. We would be better fitted to live in the Bronx, lol. But I prefer the countryside, heh. It's good that we all have pleasant Pluto/Moon conjunctions and trines, which I like. My husband and I have Moon trine Moon, my son's Pluto is conjunct my husband's Moon, and trine mine. My son is ridiculously possessive, but it's also really nice that we're all so close. IP: Logged |

Example:Me, my mom, my husband, our son, and my mother in-law. In a small farmhouse, lol. Scenario: Our son is being deliberately extra loud because he's annoyed that the adults are talking. The more we talk, the louder he gets. My husband is singing so loudly in the kitchen (Leo Sun with Sag Asc) that it's a ridiculous cacophony between the two of them, and I'm trying to talk to my mom and mother in-law, starting to look like this: *Sighhhhh* IP: Logged |

this is so cute!! Violets, do you have natal Saturn/Uranus squares that make this energy stand out more in the transits? IP: Logged |

No, but Uranus is pretty prominent in my chart. I do have Saturn/Pluto square in natal, though. Also, Uranus conjunct IC, trine Sun, sextile Moon, square Mars . IP: Logged |

That makes me picture a toddler gleefully destroying lego castles.. ! Especially that square, to a Capricorn mars of all things!! Uranus squaring a Saturnian mars. Order and chaos collide. IP: Logged |

Faith, That's a brilliant way to handle both energies! Let Uranus have its way, but keep at it in typical Saturnian fashion anyway. Let the battles be surrendered, but the war be won in the end. It's like when the kid is being hyperactive and the mom suggests he go up and down the stairs a few dozen times. He gets it out of his system, and mom doesn't have to play bad cop and say "Sit down and be quiet." in a stern voice. IP: Logged |

It's a weird square, as my Uranus is at an early degree of Scorpio. My family is well familiar with the stink eye and glare of doom, lol. IP: Logged | |
