Has anyone had this yet, and how did it manifest for you?

Yes, I experienced it 2000-04 (using a 5° orb). It challenges you at a deep level in your identity as you relate to others. I experienced no real help in finding steady ground within myself, no matter how others helped me. It was a period of hard-fought growth that showed me where I was weak, helped me challenged others' notions of 'weak' and helped me find my real strength.

The worst period of my life by far.

I count offhand:

- one relationship disappointed/transformed/rescued by mutual awareness of our past lives together (spring 2000);

- loss of my job Sept 2000;

- a total falling out with my parents due largely to their stubborn inflexibility (Sept 2000);

- a best friendship strained due to a sudden move in with him (Sept 2000), and my health/work difficulties; he would not communicate with me w/o using his dad for an upper hand (2001);

- another relationship with a woman who had genuine affection for me lost due to my insecurity/jealousy (Dec 2000);

- severe depressions began in which it seemed easier to just die than to keep going (2000-01);

- living in a homeless shelter twice (2001); parents were the only one who would help me after that;

- a total of 7-8 jobs lost (2000-2002) due to being a disposable employee with no power because I had health issues; I was left only able to get house/pet sitting jobs (2002-05).

- one former love lost to death (April 2001);

- a lost opportunity to live with a woman in Colorado in the mountains, but I developed health issues instead (spring-summer 2001);

- started attending a Unitarian fellowship where I made friends; they had folk music concerts; I represented the fellowship in 2003 at a leadership conference; I was the feature speaker at services numerous times; all this was the only bright spot in this whole period;

- a great connection with a woman who seemed to vaporously disappear, no continuation (late 2002);

- a green card marriage (2003-04) in which there was really nothing I could get in return; I had to be selfless;

- isolation, limited work, declining health (2002-04).

At the very end of the transit (nearing 5° separating) in Sept 2004 I hit rock bottom with a suicidal emotional breakdown. My parents were very understanding and stood by me, and I got help from a counselor. Not until the transit was past did I find transformative help from another person (energy healing) that helped lift me up out of my hole.

That sounds pretty dire, but it won't be that extreme for everyone.

This transit pulls up all weaknesses or baggage from a deep unconscious place. Many people instinctively avoid the worst through isolation, and because they are not carrying the heavy load of karma that I was.

Most people's chart Ascendants are not accurate enough to know exactly when they are going through this transit. With most folks, the transit occurs well previous to the time they think. Many divorces/breakups happen during the transits of Pluto square, opposite/contra-parallel, or conjunct/parallel the Asc.

Hope that answers your question, and I hope my experience didn't scare the bejeezuz out of you.

I highly recommend you get a copy of the book Planets in Transit by Robert Hand. It is truly a classic.

To quote some snippets from his interpretation of Pluto square natal Asc ...

quote:

This transit usually provides some very intense encounters with others, which may completely transform the important relationships in your life. The problem is that this transit is not always gentle in its effects ...
Pluto is the symbol of death and resurrection ...
Through apparent power struggles with others you will uncover your weaknesses and learn how to deal with them ...
In many ways you will be a new person after this transit ...

Thank you for answering so truthfully, Kannon. I've had some similar (if not exactly the same) experiences. I suppose I should look up what was happening in my chart at that time. Also, come to think of it, I must have gone through this transit when Pluto was in Scorpio. That would have been around the time I was in junior high and high school, which sucked.

I'll have to ponder on it, I suppose. A lot of people have a crap time during those years, but it did create a rather negative lifestyle and outlook for me that has never really gone away entirely.

Well, the negative lifestyle went away of course, but the scars might always be there.

I have Planets In Transit. The definition there (and the implications of Pluto squaring anything personal) is one of the reasons I started the thread.

Jeez.

My son was born at 9:03 in the morning, we paid very close attention to that. So at worst, off by a few minutes if the hospital clock was off for some reason.

He will go through this transit starting next year.
My guess is that it will be difficult for him to not be the only child in our family, as he's had our undivided attention for five years of his life.
He will also start kindergarten, which lasts all day, so he won't be at home with me the way that he normally is now (and he has Cancer Rising with Moon in H4/H5, so he really enjoys that closeness).

I hope the changes won't be terribly drastic for him other than that.
His cousin should be experiencing that transit right about now, so I'll be paying close attention to what happens in her life.

Hopefully just the normal changes of childhood...

I own it, and I look through it fairly regularly. It was kind of a bleak interpretation, but hard Pluto transits usually are, I guess. Mitigating transits help, sometimes.

I really do hope that things don't get that hectic for me. I think I have done most of the "underground" stuff that Pluto wants.

I am awaiting its first hit on my natal Asc within the next 3 years.

Uranus transit is sitting on my Moon/Mercury midpoint.

Naturally Mars is conjunct this Midpoint and I am more susceptible to feelings of anger and outrage. I want to talk about how I feel. But there are a lot of cuss words involved. I don't mince words when feeling like this.

This has been going on ever since Uranus went over my Mercury/Moon/Mars T-square a year ago.

At that time, I decided that television and newspapers were no longer things I wanted to engage in. They just collectively made me angry and precipitated violent thoughts.

I am expecting that Pluto sitting on the Moon/Mars/Mercury sensitive point i.e Moon/Mercury=Mars midpoint will uproot these same feelings once more.

I expect there will be some other thing that causes feelings of resentment that I'll have to give up. Something that will change me intrinsically(since Mars rules the 1st house)

Another friend of mine had Pluto conjunct his Asc and square his natal Saturn. And that resulted in him leaving his job of 11 years.

I suspect that changes on my job front will reach a breaking point too. As Mars is in the 6th house of work

My brain is clearly fried. I meant to ask about Pluto OPPOSITE Ascendant.

That's what my son will be experiencing, anyway. Oppositions still seem more difficult in my book, but we'll see.

At least it won't be squaring his IC/MC axis, as they're not in Cardinal signs at all.

i consider you just all have had a good bad pluto square ascendant transit...

even what kannon mcfee said...because at this time, i lost everything EVEN myself and since that day a large part of myself is dead, and i have to live with it, i remain alive like a wandering ghost respect myself as much as i can for my living parent but i am fed up with that...i am trying to push myself to a phd to reach some sort of achievement to make like i have had a story in this life for those who knew me and for myself like to solace...but actually i just tryin to fool myself. but damn it gives me some words to say when someone is asking me who i am what i do....

pluto square ascendant transit is retiling the whole Hell alone.

Reading how bad this transit alone is makes me feel like I've been set up for ultimate disaster. Pluto in 2024 will conjunct my Aquarius Stellium and IC, square my natal Mars (including Ascendant) and Saturn and form a T-Square, oppose my midheaven and eventually form a Grand-Cross. The only good thing is that it'll trine my moon, but

Not to mention, my saturn return will be in 2027/2028. I'm going to cry in a corner now lol.

I want to emphasize that I'm an old soul that was carrying a heavy burden of karma as I went into that transit of Pluto square my Asc. During that time I completed all unfinished karmic business. Normally a person dies when that happens (wraps up karmic business). I am fortunate that I learned that did not have to happen.

Most people's sense of purpose is so subconsciously tied to their karmic 'to-do list' that if it all gets done well before a full term of life, then there is a sensation of loss, 'end', nothing left -- even if that person has not yet experienced a full life of success, mate, love, a family of their own, etc. Because you see, there is the subconscious feeling that there is no one left 'obligated' to me (karmically), which feels devastating when you've been in that mode of living for so long.

I know this is getting off topic a bit, but it is important. Less experienced souls will not have nearly the sense of devastation I had during that Pluto transit.

It must be emphasized that your astrological factors are more difficult the more karmically loaded you are.

But understand I chose the path that led to that rock bottom experience (prioritizing spiritual development) -- and I do not regret it. It has paid off for me in the end.

Now I am truly free and the development of my new beginning continues even now!

So no purpose whatsoever is served by dreadful fear of any transit or other astrological factor. To do so is to miss the entire point!

Key points about hard Pluto transits:

- Hard Pluto transits are a necessary part of our development, so we can be empowered and learn how this is partnered with the empowerment of others. All power is shared.

- Hard Pluto transits are not opportunities for others to abuse you or step on you -- unless you allow it.

- Everyone who has lived a normal lifespan has been through numerous hard Pluto transits to their natal planets -- and they survive to old age. The average person (born around 1960-80) goes through a combined total of about 6-9 such transits by Pluto to Asc/MC.

- The average person at any given time is undergoing at least 2-4 such hard transits by Pluto to natal planets.

- Such transits are hardest on those (like me) whose Asc is closely square MC, so that Pluto's transits hit both simultaneously.

- The most difficult Pluto transit may be when it is conjunct or parallel natal Moon. At an average lifespan of say 80 years (less than 180° of Pluto travel), most do not experience it. I am just completing this transit and I can tell you it can be 'rebirth' as much as 'the end'. It is all in how you are prepared.

Its all about saying 'Yes!' to opportunities to grow and become a deeper person grounded in the power of compassion. Its kinda hard to be understanding with others when you've not been through trying times yourself, isn't it?

Wow!
Wealth of experience and information.

I did not experience the square, so I maybe do not qualify, however I did experience the conjunction of Tr Pluto to my Mars and ASC in 1997/ 1998.
The most cutting experience was my maternal grandfather suffering a stroke that almost cost him his life the very same night, and left him partially disabled. This in turn led to my parents and the rest of the family taking him into our home so we could care for him and we had to totally rebuild the house for this, and well he was with us for a bit more than a year more before he did die nevertheless.
Today would have been his birthday btw.

This was definitely a very shaping experience, as I have never before consciously had feared for anyone`s life and wellbeeing so much as I did that night when he was having the stroke.
(Mars rules my IC and is in 12th house conjunct ASC, as the apex planet of a Thor`s Hammer with Chiron in 4th and Vertex in 8th, if that even counts. Probably not, but I think I felt it then).

In retrospect the reshahping also influenced my personal mental reshaping (though I had another relapse, when a friend of mine died 4 years later in a motorcycle accident, not even having been 25 years at that time. It was a bleak period in my life).

from 2010-2013 Tr Pluto was
conjunct Venus
square MC
square Pluto

(the square to Pluto most frequent).

Not a bad time for me at all, but exhausting and transformational. And well okay summer 2013 was really harsh, as it resulted in some kind of heartbreak, directly followed by the death of my grandmother.

But it ALSO coincided at the end of 2012 with the Tr Pluto-square n Pluto in the decision to change my life, and stop comitting suicide in little steps.
I remember that strangely sober thought I had in my head that said: "Either you die for real or you finally start living for real. But you can`t do the in-between-anymore." lol

A little dramatic, but the next day I enrolled with Weight watchers and over the course of the next 2 and a half years lost almost 60 kilos of weight and my behavioural pattern changed with that as well.

I guess it has a little to do wtih these Pluto-transits.

It was no walk in the park, though honestly? For these years when I had the help of Pluto, shedding weight was so ridiculously easy. But ask me now! Not so easy to keep it off anymore and shed some more of course. :sighs:
Almost wished Pluto was back to square himself, it helped, I guess. (oh at the time Tr Pluto was also conjunct pr ASC).
