In this, though, I've realized that Vitamin D deficiency, and even treating it can cause SO many other symptoms.
First of all..
Taking vitamin D can lower Magnesium levels.
This of course, can tie into lethargy, weakness, and even raised blood sugar.
Thing is, when you are low in Magnesium, you also tend to become low in Potassium. So, that can also cause a lot more extra symptoms. So... If you're someone who is taking vitamin D, you may also want to take Magnesium, or see if you can check Magnesium levels.
Then, vitamin D also ties in with Calcium and is needed for calcium to be used correctly for the body.
Of course, your body regulates calcium with your parathyroid glands.
I doubt there is a link.. But.. For those of you who research these kinds of things.. Can stress on the parathyroid also cause imbalance with the thyroid?
I was really blown away reading experiences people have had with vitamin D deficiencies online.. I was finding it really hard to believe that one deficiency can make someone feel so crappy. But, then I realized, Vitamin D has such a large connection with other minerals in the body.
If I am correct, vitamin D also plays a pretty big role in the usage of calcium in the body.
I would wonder that if one is taking vitamin D, if that could cause a malabsorption of iron, because of an increase in Calcium uptake? (If there is an increase) Large amounts of calcium can block the proper absorption and usage of iron from the diet. Of course, I would guess that this would mainly happen with calcium from food though, rather than vitamin D's effect on it.
Of course, the only reason I mentioned Vitamin D is because it seems there are others here who are also deficient.
I was not aware of any of this to my knowledge but i actually read somewhere about magnesium levels being affected by Vitamin D supplements or just taking too much vitamin D?? i don't know but I will certainly bring this up to my doctor and see what her opinion is. Ill defently post my results on wednesday.
