Those of you who have natal charts with points in middle mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pices) will find this article of more interest than most. But it it is about The Jupiter-Saturn Balance ...

For the last couple months I've been experiencing the dual effects of Jupiter and Saturn transits to the Ascendant of my birth chart. Jupiter has been in transit conjunct my Asc 17VIR14, and Saturn square it. (In addition secondary progressed Asc has been conjunct sec.prog. Jupiter).

This has been a time of concentrated learning that has culminated in at least one decision to let go of a project (housing blog), allowing a small failure so I can get back some happiness. It may not be the only such decision needed to achieve that. There's been no doubt of the more jovial, energizing influence of Jupiter, but its optimism led me to overreach in what I was taking on.

The best one can hope for from Jupiter is a feeling of greater benevolence, and optimism. Optimism means a larger, clearer perspective on life.

Great article.

I've been dwelling on the same thought lately.

Tr Jupiter and Saturn forming a grand cross with my 18 Pisces moon, 16 Gemini Mars.

Interesting article Kannon. I can completely empathize with your situation. One year ago I started up a business venture to extend our work by commuting to a small town district one day a week to see clients/patients who were unable to travel to see me. It has been worthwhile but has been very taxing on my and my family's time. In the last few months I have come to the realization that it's too much stress to carry on. I did feel like it would be seen as giving up but I have to put my family's needs before anyone else's.

18 pisces sun
18 gemini moon
13 sag neptune

Initially I was so excited about this opportunity (t north node conj n pluto made it feel right) but since recently placing adverts to say I will no longer be operating in that area from May I have felt a weight lifted from me.

Very interesting article!

Even though I don`t have planets in the midst of mutable signs (mine are located at the early and late degrees - unless we count Juno at 16°58 Pisces), it was still interesting to read.
Maybe also cause I think both, Jupiter and Saturn, are pretty strong in my natal chart and I have to always find a balance between them.

Thanks GeminiKarat
Ceridwen, I was thinking about natals as well when I wrote this, like Jupiter opposite or square Saturn.

I have a couple friends who are really outgoing and are like people magnets, but I can see their struggles with balance with the Jupiter opposite Saturn they both have. (Both have the same birth date - 27 Jan 1970).

One (male) has long lived like a recluse in spite of his natural people magnetism; he has big ideas but stays stuck in a conservative area where he doesn't seem to belong.

The other (female) has perhaps as much people magnetism, but the ending of her first marriage in 1996 seemed to set off an anxiety-depression syndrome she later told me is a degree of bi-polar.

It seems it is easier to say 'yes' in the mind (realm of imagination), but find blocks or frustrations in the realm of the material and/or social worlds where people want stability and security rather than high falutin' ideals to fulfill. When we say 'yes' to ourselves, but find society saying 'no' it can turn an extrovert more in to themselves.

Ultimately, Saturn is not 'bad guy', but the leaden reality of how much work something will actually be. An encounter with its energies full-on may mark the point of decision in which we decide it is not worth the effort or sacrifices.

We all want to hear 'yes' all the time as Jupiter's jovial nature speaks in terms of possibilities, open doors, growth. But there can be no continual growth. Growth is cyclical because it involves work from which one must rest.

Jupiter would seem to be like hot air inflating the structure (Saturn) of a balloon. At some point you have to accept the limits of that particular structure, otherwise the balloon pops.

The confusion often comes in with the awareness of 'nothing is impossible' where many things may actually not be possible for me as an individual at all. This is the strange place of cleavage between the spirit's unity with everything, and the ego's desire to be the one that does it.

i have hard time to read all of you sorry they are very unclear post maye becasue of jupiter in opposition to neptune that you forget to add with this jupiter-saturn square.

here something readable...how the jupiter square saturn affect my life :

- Jupiter : my jupiter is right now exactly on my virgo ascendant : Feeling regenerated with the trine from pluto in capricorn in someway, doing some sport make pop muscle immediatly

- Saturn : hard work for little result...i cannot work as efficiently as i worked just before this square. i was much more productive on my daily task and amount of job done.

- saturn+jupiter in square: i feel optimistic sometimes then feel depressed...

- my guideline for the current T-Square jupiter-neptune-saturne : i try to stay real, each time my mind is wishful-thinking, yearning too much or imaginery thinking too much, i stop and make silence and peace in me to stay grounded. i try to pursue my goals but i don't bet on them because i may be deceived if it doesn't work as intended so i stay focused and i try to find more opportunities to follow if my main project fail.
