The general accepted rule is all April Fools Jokes must be conducted before 12:00 Noon.

All jokes after 12:00 are typically frowned upon. I notice your thread post time says 6:03pm.

@DualGem -- Oops, I didn't know lol. I was gonna do this earlier but I was busy today.

@CosmiqPhuz - Lol, I played a good one my friend today. Told her my mom doesn't like her and my whole family said I should stop talking to her.
Let's just say -- She didn't like my joke very well, LOL!

If you're going to go for mean ones then you should at least be creative. Something along the lines saying you've decided to join a monastery or even the military (and have thus come to say goodbye) would be more creative. (If you're brave, then say you're gay, just be braced for how others say they always suspected it, even if they then say that was their own AF prank...but was it really?) Even fake bugs and spiders are more creative than this.

Know that pranks that damage items like phones or even food can land you in court (though probably just cost you a friendship, at least for a time). I mention it because you don't seem to put a lot of thought into your "jokes" and in case you got inspired, I thought you should keep that in mind.

I was grudgingly impressed with one guy's mean joke (I don't recall if it was April's Fool or just because). He was in a town that at the time tested its tsunami siren everyday at noon, and then a woman just arrived in town who was waiting on the products of where he worked at. He asked her if she read the news today, and when she said she hadn't, he went on about how the North Koreans were full of it (they had been in the news lately) and they wouldn't dare fire on the USA as they said they'd do, and then, as noon came close, he changed the subject, and then as the tsunami test alarm went off, he pretended to panic...and she was on the verge of panic herself. Needless to say she wouldn't talk to him at all after that. But at least it was creative.

Oh, and AF on the net is usually posting joke articles masquerading as news (as opposed to something like this thread). Something from the Onion, perhaps, though plenty of news sites will add in April Fool jokes disguised as news stories, which is why you should automatically be suspicious of any news article posted as being on April 1. (YT has a Snoop Vision thing going on...at least I hope that's the joke for the day.)

I thought your joke was fine, for the record. I'm not much for pranks, though.

Also, before I saw your name posted, I figured it was another rant from Soren.

(No offense, Soren.)

Maybe it's a Gem mooner thing, i think fast and a joke may sound good to me (or in my head) but to actually speak it out, it comes out weird (atleast to others).

edit: @mar1982delta -- lol, ur welcome.

Maybe it's a packed 5H thing to me, and I need creativity.

When I chased down and (to my surprise) caught a girl who just tagged my basement door with a crude racial epithet, I scolded her more on her lack of creativity than anything else, and the look in her eyes like she'd just lost all her bearings in the world sticks with me.

She's lucky that it was me who caught her instead of the one she'd left that for. As I saw some "friends" put her up to it, I even gave a brief explanation why they were not her friends, so in a way I was trying to help her out (she was 12-13), and I even let her go rather than making her take me to her parents. At least I'd been meaning to paint that door anyway, so I finally got around to it (before the one the girl left that for discovered it as she'd have been hurt and furious over it). But even as I was painting over it, I just kept thinking how bad it was that people couldn't at least be more creative. And the freshly painted garage door must've surely been tempting, but it was never tagged again...I think they thought I was crazy and therefore wasn't sure what I'd do if I caught them at it again.

^^ That reminds me of an episode of Reno 911, where they're teaching kids how to graffiti properly after catching them...but I can't find a clip for it.

I'm hoping that something I saw on facebook just now, was just a horrible April Fool's prank, played by a news website. Something about Jeffrey Dahmer's house being available for rent for $8000 (at least). They mentioned the Republican convention as well - about it being available during that time - so it has to be a joke, right?

I fell for this stuff four times, counting this. Luckily, I was in the van down in Amish country, and shopping for seeds at one point. I needed to get out of the house, but I also figured the Amish might not be up for April Fool's.

Good one, Deptic! Even though it was past noon.
