So, some astrologers like to bump a planet into the next house if it's close enough to the cusp. I'm not really a fan of it (and I'll explain why in a moment). But for sake of discussion, how close is close enough? And do we assume that the sign must not change for it to be counted (the planet and cusp must share the same sign)? If so, what about a planet that is retrograde and just past the cusp? Do you read it as the previous house? My personal preference is to not count the planet in the next (or for Rx previous) house. I believe that the influence is actually the result of progressions and should be accounted for in that manner. But I want to here your opinions! IP: Logged |

Hmm, I don't really have a definite opinion on this simply because I haven't studied the house cusps enough. But from what little I know, I've been told being close to the cusp in between the houses will have some influence of the next house even if it's still technically in the previous house. For example, my Saturn is in the end of the 6th house, but very close to the cusp of the 7th house (I think 1 or 2 degrees). Astrologers have told me to wait to marry until my Saturn return - which is typically a 7th house thing but since it's so close to the cusp, it's still considered I guess. However, I still need to deal with saturn 6th house issues as well. This mode of thinking from astrologers seems to support the theory that the signs/houses are a spectrum and not as black-and-white. I'm leaning towards the spectrum... IP: Logged |

I like clear-cut math so I like to honor the house cusps as definitive fences. Though I do note when something is close to a cusp as I think it pulls something from the next house (through the fence). Especially if it's an angle. IP: Logged |

I have also debated this a great deal. And I finally am exploring getting rid of all house cusp issues by using the whole sign system
