Why isn't the 2nd house considered a Sexual House? I know Taurus is a sexual sign. When it's talked about Sexual Houses, the 1st, 5th, 8th houses, which respectively are Aries, Leo, Scorpio. What about the 2nd house? Why do astrologers ignore that house when it comes to sex? IP: Logged |

I believe Taurus is considered both sensual and sexual. IP: Logged |

I think the polarity between the 2nd/8th houses is exactly that - sensual vs. sexual.Taurus is a sensuous sign - smells, sounds, touch. It's more or less the "experience" or "feel" of all that which may not even end in a sexual act. Scorpio is a sexual sign and could do without all of those things and skip straight to the physical act. IP: Logged |

I see Taurus as the sensual, earthly physical pleasures that are related to sex. Not necessarily a sexual sign or house. Scorpio/8th house sex is the spiritual merging of energies. The emotional side of sex not just the physical act. Taurus/2nd house makes me think of strawberries and champagne and rolling around in satin sheets. Not taking things too seriously, just enjoying the experience. Scorpio/8th house is more like Tantric sex, listening to Enigma and staring into each other's eyes. Connecting on an emotional level. So if the 2nd house is the "physical act" then in a way the 2nd house can be seen as a Casual Sex house, no?IP: Logged |

2nd house is the house of sustenance. And is often a house that is glazed over or overlooked. But it is very important. The 2nd house is about physical nourishment/security and what we do in order to satisfy our physical needs i.e warmth, shelter, affection, freedom etc. Together with the 6th and 10th, it is looked at as one of the "work" house or how one makes money. But money is not a "gain" or comfort. But a means that we use to get the comfort and security we want. Physically, no-one can survive life without having to fulfill the needs of the 2nd house. As these are our basic requirements for living. And mostly what we strive for jointly within the fabric of our lives. So I wouldn't necessarily say that the 2nd house is "sexual" as much as I don't think that sex-in and of itself- is what people want. The need to feel loved/appreciated and physically gratified(2nd)is what sex (hopefully)fulfills. But it is only one avenue Taurus(though very much into sex) is not happy with sex alone. As Taurus wants the whole package; good food, good wine, good conversation and great setting etc. The reason that astrologers don't mention the 2nd may be because it goes without saying i.e the ability that two people may have in connecting sexually(8th)will be strongly dependent on how physically secure they feel(2nd). The last thing on your mind would be to connect sexually with someone(8th) if you are on the brink of losing your home(2nd) for instance.

Taurus may be a sensory/sensual sign, but that is not 'sexual'. Your reasoning goes off from there. The 2nd house has nothing to do with sex, but (as with the sign of Taurus) relates to pre-sexual development of a sensate/sensory nature, the oral stage of development (think infants sticking everything into their mouths). The 2nd house relates to what you have in hand or can learn to obtain (income). ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions | Expert rectification IP: Logged |

It puts the 2nd house into somewhat better perspective for me to think on this a bit. My Moon is there, in Virgo. It never really clicked for me, but if I think in terms of just "Earth", it makes a tremendous amount of sense. My Cap Mars is in H6, so it's easy for me to become slightly confused as to who's doing what in my chart. Is it my H6 Mars, or my H2 Moon? But I feel very emotionally fulfilled when I'm working outside in a garden, and surrounded by earth smells. I enjoy natural smells, like henna in the summertime and rain on rocks. It helps me to feel relaxed and at ease. As a Pisces Sun and Pisces Jupiter, I'm not that concerned with money. I don't like to stress about it, but if I have enough to meet my needs I feel just fine about living within my means, with fairly basic things. Now that I have children, that has become a bit more complicated because I want different things for them than I would want for just myself. Financial security is more important to me as a result of that, so I guess that might also be in line with a H2 Moon. Anyway, sort of going off on a tangent about my Moon, but the 2nd house has always been a bit baffling to me as well, when it's laid out as a basic security house, or money. I can identify more with connecting to the earth, and it makes a bit of sense in the order of the houses (in my opinion). IP: Logged |

I donīt ignore it. Along with 1st house it is a "physical house" in the sense of what you do with your body (and by extension what you have in material ways of course). And as far as I know bodies are definitely involved when having sex, though I still wouldn`t call it so much sexual as, well, yes, sensual. experience of the physical world, including everything. But maybe that is hairsplitting anyway. IP: Logged |

This makes so much sense. Your whole post made sense but i had to highlight your last paragraph. So basically, Taurus or 2nd house dominant people if economically depressed, would have no interest in the pleasures of life(including sex). So their sex drive is tied to their earnings!

The 2nd house is also the house of self value. If you don't value yourself and have low self-esteem that would play a big part in choosing to engage in sexual or this case sensual activity.IP: Logged |

Nope. 2nd house is tied to what we feel have value - energy, time, or whatever we find valuable/so deem to have worth. If I value loyalty and I get it from my partner, yes, it's tied to the sex drive. It's always on, no moodiness. No casual sex for me. I am too stubborn to change what I value in life. IP: Logged |

Yes, but I don't see that as some sort of proof that H2 people's sex lives are tied to their earnings. I would say that my Sun being in Pisces would detract more from that type of sentiment, although perhaps being in H8 would help. IP: Logged |
