I have a couple of friends who really do not empathise with animals, they don't understand them, don't feel remorse or sadness at the idea of them suffering for our benefit. They openly dislike the idea vegetarianism, but not so much vegetarians or vegans themselves, I think its more that they don't like it when people try to impose their beliefs on them, which I think is fair enough. However, the lack of empathy for animals when they are suffering is strange for me because I love animals. These friends don't believe that animals are conscious beings at all, and said that they are okay with the idea of them suffering for their benefit. I should also mention that these people are also incredibly humanitarian at the same time, extremely liberal political views, which I have to admit is really weird for me considering their views on animals, but maybe because it's almost the opposite to my beliefs, which is fine. I just wondered if there might be some indication for this, because these people don't lack empathy in general, and I do like them a lot as people (excluding these views). One is a Capricorn sun, moon and mercury and Sag ASC. The other is a Cancer sun, Aquarius moon and Cancer Mercury. ASC unknown but is likely Aries or Taurus ASC. They both have planets residing roughly around the 2nd (mainly) and 3rd houses. IP: Logged |

5H rules animals or pets so maybe any planets making aspects from that house? Check the house ruler too.Aquarius Moon can be pretty humanitarian, yet contradicting at times with their views, also cold. Capricorn Moon can be harsh at times too. IP: Logged |

Ah right, thank you! I wasn't sure which house pets came under actually, but makes sense, they are kind of like children aha!Capricorn: 5th house midway through Taurus. Venus in Scorpio in 11th. It also sextiles Moon, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune and Chiron! Cancer: I suspect Cancer or Leo 5th. I'm leaning more towards them having Taurus ASC and that would give a Leo 5th though. Either way its still a Cancer influence there. But if its a Cancer 5th, then the ruler is Aqua Moon in 11th. Can't really go into aspects with this one unfortunately :/ This is weird though because I too have a heavy 11th house and I am a Cancer ASC with Taurus Sun!!! IP: Logged |

Also as far as I know it is isn't an irrational fear or anything like that, it is more of a general personality thing with them. The Cancer had a pet dog until recently.IP: Logged |

Hmm well with what you described, I can't really see anything that would be a major indication. With the Capricorn, Venus in 11H might indicate someone that values what's right for the "greater good" or to an overall cause, since it's naturally the house of Aquarius. So to have any warmth towards animals may seem out of place for them b/c they don't see the rationale in choosing animals over humans. In reality, no one is making them "choose" between the two, but Aquarius's main concern is to care for what makes the most sense (this can make them puzzling at times) throw in the Moon in Capricorn which may lead them to think it's not "practical" to fuss over animals too much. As far as the Cancer, if we go w/ Cancer on the 5H cusp, then that would put their Moon in the 11H. You can apply what I said above here too. Even more so since they have an Aquarius Moon in the natural house of Aquarius. But it might be other aspects that causes people to have less compassion. Maybe lack of Pisces/Neptune influence ? I'm not exactly sure. IP: Logged |

Ah yes, I think that might be their overall attitude really. The Cancer said to me "what good has a lion ever done". I was like.... well, I guess its kind of neutral morally since its an animal based on survival and instinct unlike humans but anyway. I could go on with that, but its not the point. Anyways, I checked the Cancers chart again- nothing in Pisces. However, the Capricorn has Saturn in Pisces and a fair few Neptune conjunctions. Exact ones on Moon and Mercury! And a sextile to Venus. I have to admit this person gets very upset about people suffering. They go and buy homeless people food and drink and stuff. Its really quite bizarre. Maybe its an empty 5th house thing also. Neither have anything there, whereas I have pluto, jupiter and NN. EDIT: Also, my boyfriend has Aqua 5th house that is empty, but loooves animals.....how strange is this! Sorry for my insane ramblings, I'm stumped aha and thank you so much for helping AquaGembaby! IP: Logged |

Yeah it is interesting that they both have 5H/11H links and they both have Moons that lack warmth.Edit: I'm heavy air with Aquarius/Uranus influence w/ an empty 5H and I love both humans and animals. Some people just haven't been exposed to how amazing animals can really be. IP: Logged |

True perhaps it is just their moons really. And also yeah maybe its their environment in that they havent been exposed. Im pretty sure Cap has never had pets apart from a fish so theyre perhaps just being opinionated on something they just dont understand. They can be rather opinionated generally Cancer i have a feeling says stuff just to seem tougher- typical cancer male trait i think? And i am also Uranus dominant! I probably need a bigger database for this but (thankfully) i havent met that many people who *hate* animals generally (not just having a preferance to live without animals for whatever reason) IP: Logged |

I don't think this has much of anything to do with 5th/11th house axis. I have an empty 5th house, 5th house cusp in Gemini, and Uranus and Neptune in my 11th house. I have 8 cats and 2 dogs that I love very much. I grew up on a farm (the kind that raises animals just because, and not for food) as well. Some of your description reminds me of guys I went to high school with. I think most of that mentality stemmed from their immaturity. As in, they were saying senseless (and sometimes cold) stuff just to shock or disgust people. My brother (Aquarius Sun with a stellium in Aquarius) has said stuff like that before, as well. But I've also seen first hand that he loves both pets and wild animals just as much as I do. I think he just likes to get a reaction out of people. Could that be a possibility with these two? No quoting please. IP: Logged |

Its possible that is the case, they do tend to judge mainstream stuff quite harshly but i am sure the cancer guy just tries to look tougher sometimes. I dont know why, he is fine with being his own person for the most part i think.Cap girl is very quirky and bouncy, but also very opinionated. I dont think she would pretend to not like something. She can ve painfully honest sometimes (sag ASC). The other thing is that they both abhore slushy, romantic, gooey affectionate stuff. I think they just really dont like people or things that are too cutesy and people who get overly emotional. Though i have been with them. They are good friends and very very intelligent people on the whole. I dont know, its very weird. IP: Logged |
