There are a number of basic courses or texts out there. The Rosicrucians have an online course for free, but it is a bit outdated. The series of books by Joan McEvers and Marion March - The Only Way To Learn Astrology - isn't the only way, of course, but is less outdated. I recommend at least the first book (red) as a good start. The most important thing is to understand that it is a slow process that will take time, and that it is good to take breaks from it to allow your perspective to refresh. It is also good to learn from a variety of sources and give yourself the space-time to process at deeper levels rather than just superficially clinging to the aphorisms of a particular school or teacher. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions | Expert rectification ☉ ☾ ☿ ♀ ♂ ♃ ♄ ♅ ♆ ♇ IP: Logged |

If you are serious about learning this art, be willing to also pay money to get books and resources that are not free. We have been spoiled in this era of internet, with free information from forum and exchanges with fellow astrologers. There is an unprecedented sharing of information and it's great, but you still have to be willing to shell out money to acquire some of the knowledge. Are you in the US? if so, go to your nearest used bookstore and check out the metaphysical section. Should be loaded with books on astrology. Leaf through them. Get more than one book. Learn from more than one teacher because there is a variety of schools and point of views, and you may have to try different ones to find one that truly resonates with you. IP: Logged |

I'm in the process of learning myself as well. I second on the books. Be careful when dishing out $50+ on online courses by astrologers. I would only buy them if that particular astrologer is for sure your absolute favorite astrologer (and you've had your chart read by them as well)I'm not really in a position to be spending money on anything right now, not even books. So I've learned how to navigate the web. But I think the biggest thing for me right now is to learn to trust my own intuition on interpretations and not relying so heavily on other sources. This helps you kind of build your own style on reading charts. It is pretty hard for me though but it's just practice. IP: Logged |

I try to learn myself as well. What is important for me in my process is not to be single-minded: all the factors (planets, houses, angles, whatever) have so many sides to them! Plus the energies work co-operatively. I try to think as holistically as I can, which makes thinking (/interpreting) in a straight-forward way almost impossible. It's fine though, you kind of have to like some detours and surprising twists anyway don't you think?! IP: Logged |
